Metroid and Halo are different styled games. Metroid focuses on puzzles and exploration while Halo is a traditional FPS. That's like comparing Mario Tennis with Virtua Tennis. The orginal Tomb Raider is considered a third person adventure game. Lara Croft uses plenty of guns, but it is not considered a third person shooter.

Metroid often bases its game play on intuitive but more involved puzzles, eg you might see a bridge early on that has a gap you cannot cross yet, later on you might be able to dash-jump across, but until then it just has to go into a personal memory buffer. This is not a "fanboy invented genre" and has existed in many games such as Kings Quest, Castlevania, Zork, Myst, and Zelda games, it's called the Adventure genre. What is radically different about metroid (and thus likeable to players like me) is there is little to no dialog to concern with, and it focuses on combat more than an average adventure game.

If you are so concerned with the visual quality of your games, then yes the Wii is not for you. If you just want to sit and gawk in disbelief in how "realistic" your games are, then you have fun with your ps3; I for one enjoy an all-around quality game (which is why I welcome delays). Although just because the graphics are not up to the 360/ps3 level, this in no way means they suck.

Yes it does seem that online gaming is the way to go nowadays, though I don't agree with this. Games can be extremely fun without your precious online play. And besides, does every game really need online multiplayer? A few online games work for me.

As I said with the graphics issue, is this really necessary to constitute a great game? I would appreciate these features, but my TP in 480p is good enough for me, because IMO the game is amazing as a whole, along with most of Ninetndo's games.
