- sdcarter, on 06/16/2009, -3/+27Lemmie guess, Zelda stuff, Mario stuff, Metroid stuff, and Pokemon stuff. Is there ever any oth... Wait... really? Firefox's spell check recognized Pokemon and not Metroid? Ugh, that's just ***** sad.
- CoD4, on 06/16/2009, -6/+30FTA: "I wish we had more to offer at this years E3 expo. My sincere apologies for not releasing more games for our loyal fans. The hardcore crowd must wait a few more months for exciting announcements"
- UselessTrivia, on 06/16/2009, -1/+24No he's basically saying he knows first hand how everyone is going to say their controls are gimmicky and not accurate or sensitive enough.
Trust me, people will get a little excited because there will be a good tech demo that makes it seem like Natal is going to be revolutionary, but then after a few months the kool aid will wear off and everyone will be like "*****, this ***** is pointless and none of the good games use it." - Luvboat, on 06/16/2009, -0/+23I think you've nailed it, but I believe Mario has always been more about the gameplay rather then the story, so its not really something to be upset about.
- doshindude, on 06/16/2009, -3/+23TL;DR version:
Galaxy 2 will have little to no story (which kinda sucks), Zelda is not even close to finished yet (and they are looking into manadory MotionPlus usage), and Nintendo doesn't announce things in advance anymore. - KSUdesigner, on 06/16/2009, -0/+19All the story a Mario game really needs is: "Plumber goes on epic quest to save the princess."
- YouRookies, on 06/16/2009, -0/+19There's still Tokyo Game Show to look forward to in 3 months. Maybe that's what he means. PLEASE MAKE A NEW STARFOX.
- SoulGrub, on 06/16/2009, -6/+24He seems reluctant to answer the question about the new motion controls. I guess he didn't want to offend.
- theaceoface, on 06/16/2009, -0/+16"...I talked to Mr. Koizumi, he said that he would try to sneak in story elements without you knowing" Way to snitch someone out!
- NYKnicker, on 06/16/2009, -1/+15Shigeru Miyamoto is the genius who will get things back rolling again for Nintendo. I can't wait to see the new Legend of Zelda game.
- stinkstank, on 06/16/2009, -3/+16No. Meaning it won't work the way they wish it would.
- jeremymccurdy, on 06/16/2009, -0/+12Why? They're always good games.
- Flytrap, on 06/16/2009, -0/+12In another interview, Nintendo, said that they did evaluate it extrensively and actually started the original Wii concept around a motion-sensing camera (having hoped to expand what Sony has done on 2 dimensions through to 3 dimensions). In that interview, Nintendo claimed that using accelerometers proved more effective and game responsive.
Either Microsoft successfully overcame some challenges that Nintendos more limited research budget (at that time) could not or Microsoft may yet encounter those same challenges that drove Nintendo to decide that the Wii Remote was a better 3 dimensional controller. - judahhertz, on 06/16/2009, -4/+16I really wish he would focus on completely new games rather than more sequels.
- SkippyDoorknob, on 06/16/2009, -5/+17If you're referring to the Wii remote, that can hardly be compared to an IR remote.
- boombume, on 06/16/2009, -1/+11I have no idea what you are saying.
- Luvboat, on 06/16/2009, -1/+9"I’m watching people play New Super Mario Bros. Wii with a big grin on their face. So I’m hoping that we might be able to create a similar-feeling experience for Zelda."
I'm thinking a return of Fierce Deity's Link from Majora's Mask is in order. You can't help but smile with all that power. - Disastrophe, on 06/16/2009, -1/+9He looks diabolical in that picture/thumbnail...
- dagamer34, on 06/16/2009, -0/+8I'm still thinking that it's a bit harder to program an entire body than it is the accelerometer in a Wiimote. It really all depends on the tools given to developers and the cost of those tools.
- Irishsmurf, on 06/16/2009, -1/+8What?
That's just being stupid. Story can carry a lot of games. - YouRookies, on 06/16/2009, -4/+11Give me the faster more accurate controller over the Natal any day. If you watch the demo videos you'll notice there's a slight delay. It'll be great for mini games though.
- DelMonte, on 06/17/2009, -0/+7The princess not always in another castle, once Mario reaches world 8-4, the princess is in that castle.
- taibo, on 06/16/2009, -0/+6I may not have been the biggest fan of the Wii, but damn Miyamoto is cool.
- EnnuiStudent, on 06/17/2009, -0/+5I thought so too. He looks like some kind of mad scientist...
- inactive, on 06/16/2009, -0/+5Mr Miyamoto,"Oh yeah?? That bitch is FIRED!!!"
- kinseyincanada, on 06/17/2009, -0/+5whatever Zelda, Mario, Metroid and Pokemon are awesome games, why woudlnt we want more?
- mijokijo, on 06/16/2009, -0/+5What article are you reading?
- taibo, on 06/16/2009, -0/+5Why the hell would you not buy a game just because a character makes a return appearance?
- SkippyDoorknob, on 06/16/2009, -0/+4He got a closed-door demo of Natal from the Microsoft group.
- h3xZ, on 06/16/2009, -0/+4They should learn from our friend Rick...
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Yu_moia-oVI - gizmo12688, on 06/16/2009, -0/+4So......much.......power....
- gizmo12688, on 06/16/2009, -2/+6knowing Miyamoto, its him not wanting to offend.
- Mrbigjohn, on 06/16/2009, -0/+4Super Mario, big time!!
- ryansmith18, on 06/16/2009, -0/+4That's not even a sentence. Were you drunk when you posted that?
- inactive, on 06/16/2009, -1/+4I enjoyed it.
- Elranzer, on 06/17/2009, -0/+3See my comment a few ways up.
- taibo, on 06/16/2009, -1/+4I rather have something with buttons that rumbles and actually responds.
- SkippyDoorknob, on 06/16/2009, -1/+4The IR part is only used for the pointer functionality. Motion detection is through accelerometers and then it communicates to the console using bluetooth. Plus it has a speaker.
- TheBogie, on 06/16/2009, -2/+4Miyamoto is elbows deep in saki, Geisha girls, and all that fancy expensive sushi that have the rare endangered sea slugs in it.
Miyamoto is partying it up, and I can't blame him.
The only way Miyamoto will find out about the new motion controls is if they put it in the Karaoke machine down at the bar. - Halsfield, on 06/17/2009, -0/+2For some reason I really like hearing/reading things by miyamoto, he's just so devoted to making a fun game and seeing his vision created. I just don't see too many people in the xbox/ps3 department that have that(there are of course companies that make games for those systems that do have those qualities). Most of the time all you hear people from those systems talking about are graphical capabilities, hard disk space, and processing speed moreso than content and how it is going to make the playing experience better. You can have all the hardware in the world and without imagination and vision you'll have a flop every time.
While he says that he doesn't necessarily want more story in galaxy 2 I think he means that he doesn't want so much story that it gets in the way. Every single Mario game out there has a story, but to what degree is what changes. I don't think Mario needs xenosaga(or mgs)-like cutscenes to deliver storyline which is what it sounds like was being suggested. I do think the games like mario rpg/paper mario(the rpg versions) were really incredible games and show that Mario with an expanded and detailed storyline isn't necessarily a bad thing. - avgbody, on 06/16/2009, -1/+3I buried the story, for being inaccurate, just for that fact. The title was misleading. He basically dodge the question and did specifically talk about Natal.
- Elranzer, on 06/17/2009, -1/+3He is.
- Recluse84, on 06/17/2009, -0/+2Im kinda with you on that one man. for games like Mario Party, the motion controllers are a blast.. But I really got sick of playing Twilight Princess with that control scheme. I miss pressing a button to attack as opposed to wiggling my hand around. It just gets tiring.
- UselessTrivia, on 06/17/2009, -1/+3Exactly.
- Elranzer, on 06/17/2009, -1/+3Really, the "new IP" argument is getting tired, especially when it seems to always come from the same people who get all boner about Metal Gear Solid spin-offs or Final Fantasy XIV (FOURTEEN!!!)
Anyways, doesn't Nintendo have enough new IPs in the last decade:
Oueden / Elite Beat Agents
Golden Sun
Cosmic Walker
Dynamic Den
Line Attack Heroes
Professor Layton
Hotel Dusk
Art Style
Clubhouse Games
Chibi-Robo
Wii Sports
WarioWare (aside from Wario himself, nothing to do with Mario or even the Wario Land series)
Not to mention Nintendo's "old and tired" IPs still tend to be the best games around...
Mario
Zelda
Metroid
Kirby
Punch Out
Star Fox
Pokemon
Smash Bros
Fire Emblem
Mother/Earthbound
Game & Watch
What exactly is your complaint again? - miggols99, on 06/16/2009, -1/+3The Wii remote isn't simply an IR remote. It's so much more than that.
- sevenalive, on 06/17/2009, -0/+2Legend of Zelda is the *****!
- s0nicfreak, on 06/16/2009, -1/+3Siiigh, I hate the way that articles like this don't include the origional conversation... just the translation, which may or may not be completely accurate.
- h0ly, on 06/18/2009, -0/+1I get the impression he doesn't really want to keep the text-based storytelling (like Rosalina's library) on Galaxy 2.
