- moredown, on 10/28/2009, -4/+45Can't wait to play it
- kylescousin, on 10/28/2009, -2/+37This looks so fresh and colorful... looks like nintendo still owns it when it comes to platform games.
- eclaires, on 10/28/2009, -5/+28excited that they made it 4 player...
- KSUdesigner, on 10/28/2009, -2/+23I had a hell of a lot of fun playing these kinds of games 15 years ago. If you have fun playing it, what the hell is the big deal if it looks like it was made today or 15 years ago? Seriously people, gaming is about having fun, it's not about how good something looks.
- mywhitenoise, on 10/28/2009, -1/+17And you're the reason I HATE playing multiplayer. Haha, I don't play well with others.
- Syric, on 10/28/2009, -1/+16This is obviously more of a nostalgia trip than a revolutionary new concept in gaming, but that doesn't mean it won't be fun as hell.
- allisonaxe, on 10/28/2009, -1/+13Go look at Rushnerd's comment up there, about standing on the wrong side of the screen impeding scrolling, and tell me, again, that you wish it could play online. if someone does that online, there's no recourse. if they do it in your home, you push him off the couch, beat him senseless, and send him home.
- fishbeef33, on 10/28/2009, -2/+14Dear Joest23,
I'm sorry that you seem to believe that the only games worth being made are those "hardcore" games that cater to the testosterone-driven, 15-30 yr old male base. I'm certainly glad you found a genre of video games to enjoy, but I'm curious if you really are or ever WERE a Nintendo fan. If you were, you would have realized years ago that they're not specifically interested in making games just for the FPS shoot-body-parts market. I'm tempted to say "live and let live," but fanboys of ANY kind have a really hard time with that. So keep bashing. It's entertaining at the least.
Sincerely,
A video game fan - po43292, on 10/28/2009, -3/+14I may have to get a Wii for this.
- taibo, on 10/28/2009, -1/+12I'm happy with how they handled the whole Super Guide business; I was worried for a while, but this looks to be alright.
- Trifold, on 10/28/2009, -0/+11Give me a reason to find out what my friend code is?
- Syric, on 10/28/2009, -1/+12Nobody would deny that LBP is fantastic. But it's more of the exception than the rule.
- CptGreencoat, on 10/28/2009, -1/+11Dick.
- rushnerd, on 10/28/2009, -8/+17I LOVE multiplayer side strollers, because you can single handled piss everyone off by either standing still or going the wrong way :D
- kevro, on 10/28/2009, -3/+12Every one , Do the Mario!
- noumuon, on 10/28/2009, -2/+11it looks nothing like a 15 year old game other than it being a platformer, and if that's your justification, well you'll be pretty disappointed with 99.99% of all video games.
- allisonaxe, on 10/28/2009, -1/+10if this is well designed, then the rest of the team can push on the other side of the screen and force the screen to scroll, dropping you into a pit.
- Trifold, on 10/28/2009, -3/+11Looks good. I hope my Wii remembers how to play games after all this time...
- allisonaxe, on 10/28/2009, -1/+9no you haven't. I still have my genesis, its still hooked up, and I still play it, but its not capable of a game like this.
- ItsTheMattMan, on 10/28/2009, -1/+8"We played the game together for a good amount of time, and the intimate atmosphere and laid-out surroundings allowed me to really just sit back and enjoy what the game is trying to do. This is a new 2D Mario game with new suits, new moves, and new secrets, but the four-player co-op/competitive play is where things really shine. Play with your friends and compete for the best score. Play with your kids and help them get all the items. How you play is up to you, and the level design is what you'd expect from Miyamoto and company.
This is going to be a big, big title. Every time I play it, it gets me just how well Nintendo does this sort of magical, but initially simple, experience. Playing with a crowd simply brings the hidden complexities and game play elements to the surface. "
I was sold before this but whatever, it's going to be great...plus there's nothing wrong with a nostalgia trip because nostalgia plays a big role into why we love Mario anyway. - Jenle7498, on 10/29/2009, -0/+7That makes cents.
- SirTheGuy, on 10/28/2009, -1/+8I think you forgot the /s
- emjaymj, on 10/28/2009, -1/+8Totally untrue I play Super Mario Bros quite often on the virtual console. Speed running it is very fun and relaxing.
- zip000, on 10/28/2009, -4/+10This looks great, but unfortunately, I have no friends, so multiplayer games - at least non-online ones - are a waste on me.
My wife doesn't like gaming much, and my kid is still too young....I can't wait until he can play some mario with me though!
[he'll probably be a jock and not be interested in video games] - scottrothman, on 10/28/2009, -5/+11So stoked. If you don't like the super guide feature, you know what? Don't use it.
- BrownieMix, on 10/28/2009, -0/+6/s....
- coraleaterlinda, on 10/28/2009, -2/+7I will probably buy a Wii simply to play this game. It looks amazing.
- rocknog, on 10/28/2009, -1/+6The funny thing here is, in another 15 years, I guarantee the SNES will get more playtime than the PS3. The PS3 will go on to be replaced - the SNES is timeless, so I don't understand bitching about a game even if it does look like an SNES game.
- Elranzer, on 10/29/2009, -0/+5RIP Captain Lou Albano
- rocknog, on 10/28/2009, -0/+4If the Wii focused on the exact same kind of games that the other systems do, I would be incredibly disappointed. I have a PC for hardcore gaming, but sometimes I just want to sit back on the couch with a nice platformer or action/adventure game, and that's where my Wii comes in. Or I want to play a competitive game with a few of my friends. I look at it this way - a while back, I considered springing for a 360, but when I looked at the games I was most interested in, I realized they were almost all playable on a PC. If this had been the case for the Wii, if it had exactly the same kind of games available on the 360, I never would've even bothered with it.
- mcphilip, on 10/28/2009, -0/+4I'll get over it once I start playing, but man, why'd they have to mess up the music? ***** a cappella!
- clippclop, on 10/28/2009, -1/+5What exactly would WiFi do for this game?
- TheyCMeTrollin, on 10/28/2009, -2/+6buried for inaccurate. nintendo fanboys eat this crap up.
- richIsBored, on 10/29/2009, -0/+3Get him involved early. I had my nephew playing mario games with me at 3 years old.
- chaosblade77, on 10/29/2009, -0/+3If a Nintendo fan wanted all of the things you mentioned, why wouldn't they own a PS3/360? It's contradictory, I am a "Nintendo fan" because I like my Mario platformers, my Metroid adventures, my Fire Emblem RPGs, etc.
Maybe it's because I'm not a fanboy and own more than one console, but I'm glad Nintendo doesn't feel the need to change what they do just because some people aren't interested in what they make and only play the flavor of the month action/shooter game. - clippclop, on 10/28/2009, -2/+5Little big planet was also a side scroller platformer and it was awesome.
You can say every game is the same and such and such another game. Would you like if it was made in a different franchise? - copypastry, on 10/28/2009, -0/+3I bet you also beat the ***** out of your teammate in battletoads :(
- uberduger, on 10/28/2009, -0/+3I miss the days where there were lots of fun platformers. I have a 360 and it saddens me to have so few platformers available. Banjo Threeie was my last real hope, but since that turned into Nuts & Bolts, it turned into crap.
Bless the XBLA/Indies, because I don't have the cash to buy a PS3 right now... - fishbeef33, on 10/29/2009, -0/+3I have to disagree. There are quite a few very good, very high quality games with lasting appeal for the Wii. The problem is that they're not properly marketed by Nintendo because they're too busy catering to what's been dubbed the "casual" crowd. Here are some of the games I have, or have played, that are Wii exclusive and are just fantastic:
-Fire Emblem: Radiant Dawn
-Rune Factory Frontier
-A Boy and His Blob
-Muramasa: The Demon Blade
-Boom Blox (a little on the casual side, but still very immersive)
-Little King's Story
Sure, there's a lot of shovelware for the Wii and I do blame Nintendo for that because they seem to give licenses to anyone with a pulse. But all of those crap games overshadow a very tight collection of games that a hardcore player could spend a lot of time with. - oda1, on 10/28/2009, -0/+3"It's going to be hard to find a demographic that won't fall in love with this game, actually... notwithstanding cynical PC gamers."
Why don't you lay off the PC gamers, lou. - saferwaters, on 10/28/2009, -1/+4The graphics are "a little" better? I know we all remember classic games as looking nice back in the day, but let me refresh your memory on what SMB3 looked like: http://cheats.ign.com/dor/objects/6694/super-mario ...
Now watch the video again and compare. - Rockkybox, on 10/29/2009, -0/+2Panic on funkatron
- sageerrant, on 10/29/2009, -0/+2Yup. It's far better to try something until you're almost sick of it and at the point of giving up than it is to fall in a pit twice in a row and throw in the towel.
Some people are just too impatient or unwilling to learn to play games at all, but there's a decent chunk that would get the hang of it if they have to keep trying. If they know that there's a way to move on when they've failed, they'll be more willing to try until that point. - m4x30000, on 10/29/2009, -0/+2Win.
- Maysh, on 10/29/2009, -0/+2So many good games coming out in November, and so little time to play them :l
- avidlinuxuser, on 10/29/2009, -1/+2This is different from other troll comments.
Trolls have a nasty habit of using the same memes.
Seriously, look up videos and at least read this article to you know get the fact that it's completely different from the DS version. The inclusion of the Koopa Kids is also an obvious sign NSMB Wii is different from NSMB. But alas, you can't change trolls. - SreyaNotfilc, on 11/17/2009, -0/+1They do. Just grab a DS.
- Elranzer, on 10/29/2009, -1/+2They're more fun because they're on Sony systems? Seems only Sony fanboys love the Ratchet & Clank series. They're legitimately mediocre and boring to everyone else.
- Elranzer, on 10/29/2009, -0/+1More games should be like this. I wish they'd do a retro overhead Zelda game.
