- chuckdraws, on 04/14/2009, -3/+25Finally! I can cut my virtual carrots with precision soon! Thank's Cooking Mama!
- navidb, on 04/14/2009, -5/+26i think it truly is bs that this 1:1 accuracy wasn't included to begin with, but that's capitalism i guess.
- vawksel, on 04/14/2009, -0/+15Don't buy it then until a game comes out for it.
- Animan351, on 04/14/2009, -1/+14Damn it! it pays to procrastinate. I spent an hour yesterday trying to find out the release date for motion plus and now it just comes along digg slapping me in the face as it laughs.
- Disinterested, on 04/14/2009, -0/+8damn it. more accessories!
- zeebo, on 04/14/2009, -0/+7Have friends bring theirs when you need 4 players.
- Elranzer, on 04/15/2009, -0/+6"no friends ? then why have 4 controllers in the first place ? wishful thinking ?"
He's Goro. - Frozo, on 04/14/2009, -3/+9$19.99 isnt pricey.
- freetyme, on 04/14/2009, -0/+6Make a 3D Zelda game with this. It would be awesome.
Wonder if it'll make steering with just the wii remote easier for future racing games (as I'm sure this doesn't help older titles but just new ones that are programmed to support it) - kalvinb, on 04/14/2009, -0/+6According to http://e3.nintendo.com/wii/wiisports2resort/index. ... Wii Sports Resort will include a WM+ which makes the price a bit more sensible.
By releasing the device early maybe they're hoping the people who are thinking ahead will be able to avoid shortages once people realize what it's for. - qwertydvorak, on 04/15/2009, -0/+5"No friends. And they most likely would not have any."
no friends ? then why have 4 controllers in the first place ? wishful thinking ? - Flynnz, on 04/14/2009, -0/+5it looks ok...but what shocks me is that people arent pissed about this. after all, we were all told the original wii controller would do all these things. Now I would have to pay nintendo again to get what was marketed to me in the first place. (and buy it multiple times no less for each controller)
starting to think softmodding my wii would be a bucket full of super fun justice. - Durinthal, on 04/14/2009, -0/+5"Should have been" != "Nintendo knew before launch"
Hindsight is always better for everyone, including companies that rake in billions regardless of what they do. - Takfam, on 04/14/2009, -3/+7"THIS ALWAYS SHUD HAV BEEN WITH THE WII! LULZ!!!" Yep, guess you caught them. Nintendo gimped the Wii for launch just so they could sell the motionplus almost 2 and a half years later.
What would we ever do without big N's haters to remind us of all the fun we shouldn't be having with the Wii? - vogelzang, on 04/14/2009, -3/+7$19.99 x 4 is pricey.
- MacHarborGuy, on 04/14/2009, -0/+4most of that resale value is due to ALL of the virtual console and wiiware titles being locked to the Wii friend-code. I wonder if you can untie your Wii from your Club Nintendo account?
sadly, most used systems are selling on amazon and ebay for around the retail price anyway. honestly, as much as $250 sound good, having my VC games and more games on the way sounds better. I won't get pissed with Nintendo until they announce their transition place from Wii to Whatever. - SkippyDoorknob, on 04/14/2009, -0/+3Ah, I was wrong. It's Sega, not EA.
Sega's Virtual Tennis, which ships May 19th, supports MotionPlus. - earlvanze, on 04/14/2009, -1/+4As a reward for all your hard work, you get +1 Digg.
- Claude1971, on 04/17/2009, -0/+3try
- Elranzer, on 04/15/2009, -0/+3Congrats, how's the retirement?
- XxbladesfirexX, on 04/14/2009, -0/+3This one was here first, plus there are less ads:
http://digg.com/nintendo/80_controller_Nintendo_an ... - Elranzer, on 04/15/2009, -0/+3That would be cool, but unfortunately no new Cooking Mama (or Gardening Mama) games have been announced.
Here's hoping for Baby Mama soon... - Animan351, on 04/14/2009, -0/+3Thanks, I feel vindicated now :)
- djpray2k, on 04/15/2009, -0/+3So are all new Wii consoles in shops going to come with them pre-packaged for the same price? If not that really bumps up the price of a Wii.
- spegman, on 04/14/2009, -0/+3six weeks from now I'll be very busy wasting time
- Xelseragoth, on 04/14/2009, -0/+3And for the three 3rd party games that support it coming out in June.
- MacHarborGuy, on 04/14/2009, -0/+3I wonder if this will allow more accurate registering of the speed of, say, a baseball pitch. WiiSports simulates bowling enough that I have the same curve and overall score as in real bowling. I just wonder who or what is compensating for the fact that I don't have a real bowling ball in my hand; me or the game?
Anyway, I would just like to see a new Baseball game where pitching had a little more degree of control behind it. - MacHarborGuy, on 04/14/2009, -0/+3why is it lame? Nintendo did the exact same thing with WiiSpeak. The device was released ahead of time with a download ticket for the WiiSpeak channel. No one seemed to complain. Plus you will apparently be getting new, Wiimote+MP sleeves with each Motion+ package (either single or packed in with a game).
I wonder if this means we will see WiiPlay Party with a WiiMote, Motion+ and sleeve.
on a sidenote: does anybody think that it is funny that WiiSpeak had a download ticket for the channel? guess that means it is now locked to the Wii it was downloaded to, no selling it to someone else used. - chaosblade77, on 04/15/2009, -0/+2Miyamoto (at least I think it was him) said last year at E3 that they were considering packaging it with future Wii remotes.
I'm sure manufacturing costs would be lower if they just built it into the controller instead of selling it as two parts, so if it does get "packed in" with the remote, it will probably be integrated. - kinseyincanada, on 04/14/2009, -4/+6wow now just buying the controller for a Wii cost over $80.
- Frozo, on 04/15/2009, -1/+3Well, to keep it relative... if you're the type of person that buys new peripherals to keep 4 players covered, than I'm guessing you're used to spending a whole lot more than $80.
- Flynnz, on 04/14/2009, -1/+3no I will get it and softmod to make up for it. and bitching does in fact help. It raises awareness when companies do things that a lot of consumers would disagree with. Just look what happpend with ps3. Big part of the reason its in the position it's in now is from people bitching.....just sayin'.
and more to the point how can you think it's not ok to complain when a company does something you disagree with? ***** man if everyone did that, we would be screwed as consumers. - chaosblade77, on 04/15/2009, -0/+2You can still use WiiSpeak in games without the channel. If I'm not mistaken, all the channel is for is talking with people outside of games, so you can call family members or something.
But yeah, it's an incentive to prevent used peripheral sales. - Claude1971, on 04/17/2009, -0/+2isn't Japan more like an Imperialism? just saying
- trdrstv, on 04/15/2009, -0/+2Any chance they are going to sell a Wii Remote with this built in? I don't care if it's the same length / dimensions as it has with the attachment, I don't care if it's $60 (the price of both), but I would REALLY like 1 remote with it "always there" and little chance of it being pulled off / removed / lost.
- djpray2k, on 04/16/2009, -1/+3Doing good. Just sitting on the porch eating Werthers Originals.
- abrasion, on 04/14/2009, -1/+3It fully came into perspective for me yesterday when I was with a co-worker buying a new 360 (due to RROD, lol)
We went in to Big W and there it was, an Xbox 360 arcade for 288$ AUD and the Xbox 360 Premium was 348$ AUD
(That's 208$ US and 252$ US respectively)
The Nintendo Wii is 399$ AUD for 51$ more
So for 51$ less than a Wii I could get
Modern CPU and GPU, giving me high definition graphics
DVD video playback
Decent online gaming
60gb of hard disk storage
High def video playback across a network (with a PC)
HDMI output to my television, instead of component
and god knows what else.
This Wii fad, it HAS to end soon, it's a 399$ 'monopoly' replacement, allowing people who'd pull out twister, monopoly, a deck of cards at a party to simply pull out the Wii.
Besides the party aspect, it's 399$ of junk plastic. - FireX, on 04/15/2009, -0/+1Zelda makes everything awesome...
- inactive, on 04/14/2009, -5/+6I'm not going to want to buy 4 MotionPluses at $20 each. It's too much money for accessories when I could buy a game. Le sigh.
- inactive, on 04/14/2009, -4/+5Because this is the way it is and if you can't change it, bitching won't help. I like Nintendo games and enjoy the Wii. Are you really going to try to prove a point and just NOT get this? I'm sure as ***** not. We're getting an improvement and I'm taking it.
- ButchersBoy, on 04/15/2009, -1/+2Cool; I have a family.
- FireX, on 04/15/2009, -0/+1I recommend industrial strength adhesive
- TheBlueVulcan, on 04/15/2009, -3/+4Except for the fact that $60 of one comes with the console, plus all your friends probably own one, too.
- nat014, on 04/15/2009, -1/+2Looks like great fun
- djpray2k, on 04/15/2009, -2/+3Sold mine before Christmas 2008 after having it for 9months. Made a tidy profit, so easy.
- abrasion, on 04/14/2009, -4/+5Awesome the Wii as it should've been in the first place.
Been stung once nintendo, thank god for good re-sale value on ebay.
Not re-buying. - trdrstv, on 04/15/2009, -0/+1not necessarily... I'm getting WP+ mostly for Tiger Woods, and you can pass the controller back and forth if you really need to.
- SkippyDoorknob, on 04/14/2009, -1/+2I believe there's some sort of EA tennis game that will be out even before then that will work with MotionPlus.
