- Greg2k, on 02/16/2008, -2/+19THE EARMUFFS, THEY DO NOTHING!
- libertao, on 02/16/2008, -0/+15Ironically, Nintendo is giving an advantage to those who have illegally modded their wiis and played the Japanese version.
- Murdats, on 02/16/2008, -1/+11Oh my goodness-this is great, but it really pisses me off how everytime Nintendo (or other companies) do something like this-they act like EVERYBODY lives in America
- darkNiGHTS, on 02/16/2008, -1/+11Of course they do, you can't expect NIntendo to put the relatively small market of the UK ahead of the huge video game market of the US.
- doshindude, on 02/16/2008, -2/+12Make them online...? Please? *wakes up from dream* damn.
- Megaten, on 02/16/2008, -2/+11As if South Beach wasn't awesome enough already...
COME TO FREAKING MIDDLE-OF-NOWHERE, ARKANSAS! - Zippo, on 02/16/2008, -0/+9And by North America, you mean: Just the US.
No love for Canada :( - freakon, on 02/16/2008, -4/+13THANK YOU. NO ONE EVER GIVES ANY LOVE TO MIAMI!!
- Greg2k, on 02/16/2008, -0/+8Do us all a favour and say "Europe gets shafted again". Spain, France, Germany, Italy, Portugal, etc. also get shafted, and I don't see anyone acknowledging that.
Please, UK gamers, stop considering yourselves an entirely different market to Euro gamers. For worse more than for better, you have to deal with NoE just as much as we do. We're all in it together. - griff36, on 02/16/2008, -0/+8i think you are missing the "home theater system" part for the winner...
- appleseed1234, on 02/16/2008, -0/+7Worcester Polytechnic Institute? That's where my grandma works, but I'll be on vacation SON OF A BITCH!!!!!!!!
- Innagadadavida, on 02/16/2008, -2/+9DON'T DO IT! IT'S A TRAP!
- KezG, on 02/16/2008, -3/+9UK gets shafted again
- Yotaru, on 02/16/2008, -0/+6Losers should get blasted off of platforms...
- PhantomBantam, on 02/16/2008, -0/+5Worcester? Really?
- TehRoxor, on 02/16/2008, -0/+5Well, as far as Nintendo of America is concerned...
- Shadowfox99, on 02/16/2008, -9/+14PLEASE COME TO SOUTH FLORIDA!!!!
- iofthestorm, on 02/16/2008, -0/+4That would be amazing. I think they should make some sort of Brawl Tournament Channel or something if they can't update Brawl via WiFi to enable online tourneys.
- Elranzer, on 02/16/2008, -1/+5Any stage, all items enabled, Yoshi especially welcome, Final Destination the only stage disabled.
- Elranzer, on 02/16/2008, -0/+4It's possible they're playing their expensive, imported, legitimate copy of Brawl rather than a torrent. There's quite a bit of lag when playing a DVD-R game on the Wii, if it has a lot of streaming data., and therefor no real advantage.
- SpeedyG, on 02/16/2008, -0/+4I think it'd be hilarious, and one hell of a playing field leveler.
- lordtyros, on 02/16/2008, -2/+6***** fox.
- supremespleen, on 02/16/2008, -0/+3None in Chicago? What the hell?
- inactive, on 02/16/2008, -1/+4Not surprising the kind of people that live here....
- tidu, on 02/16/2008, -1/+4Wouldn't it be a dick move if they made us play with Wii motes? ;)
- Elranzer, on 02/16/2008, -0/+3Because of your voting record.
- Greg2k, on 02/16/2008, -0/+3The Japanese ISO is out; the problem lies within the modchips.
- Elranzer, on 02/16/2008, -0/+2It's a far bigger market for them than Japan or Europe.
- noseeme, on 02/16/2008, -0/+2Hopefully one of the winners knows how to rip a DVD iso and share the love, if you know what I mean. :D
- tidu, on 02/16/2008, -0/+2because half of the people in the world are in california. it's all proportional.
- Asianwaste, on 02/16/2008, -0/+2No one cares about us MidWesterners. I think it's the crappy weather or the lack of defining accents.
- hipposaurus, on 02/16/2008, -0/+2By the time the winner is announced, the game will be released already ("The finals will also take place in New York on March 8, as part of Best Buy's Midnight Madness launch event for Smash Bros. Brawl."). Therefore, anyone who pre-ordered the game, or picks a copy up can rip it.
- Elranzer, on 02/16/2008, -1/+3In Japanese...
- Carlix, on 02/16/2008, -1/+3No love for Mexico either ;(
- GhostCow, on 02/17/2008, -0/+2Go back to 4chan.... Please?
- Jak08, on 02/16/2008, -0/+2Or you know, it is possible that they are really obsessive and purchased a japanese Wii to play their legal japanese brawl.
- AZNundercover, on 02/16/2008, -0/+2C'mon... What about Phoenix? Last time Nintendo was here is when they were trying to pimp the Gamecube before it was launched. Got to play Smash Bros. Melee for the first time there. Of course it was sweet!
- tacojohn, on 02/16/2008, -0/+1They were there w/ the Wii before it launched too- I went to their little concert and played it. Fun night.
- Jak08, on 02/16/2008, -0/+1Yeah Sparta got the shaft too
- Mystikal, on 02/16/2008, -0/+1Saturday? I played it yesterday.
- rjejr, on 02/16/2008, -0/+1The NY tournament and finals are the day before the release, so it's not like NYers are getting all that much of a preview. It sure is going to make for 1 heck of a midnight launch party though.
- Asianwaste, on 02/16/2008, -0/+1No it's not. It's quite plain and somewhat exciting. Madness? Nah, I'd say this promotion is quite in order.
This isn't Sparta either. - MewtwoReturns, on 02/17/2008, -0/+1I'd much rather they force items on. That would screw with the tourneyfags even more.
- GoldYoshi, on 02/17/2008, -0/+1Well, it works perfectly on my wii. I've found it perfectly worth it to get the legitimate copy and mod my wii with a region-free chip thingy. I'm sure super rich people have 2 wiis from each region...
- jsin1276, on 02/17/2008, -0/+1As long as they don't have "Tourney" rules I am all good with it. Though like before they probably will have those dumb rules as in no items, only 2 levels that are flat, etc. It is really annoying with those type of rules as it doesn't show what Super Smash Bros. is all about, random things happening and being surprised how the outcome can change easily.
- MewtwoReturns, on 02/17/2008, -0/+1Dugg you up for truth.
If Nintendo continues doing tournaments, and doesn't stop with just the pre-release one, and continues to play with a NORMAL ruleset instead of the failure that it is items being off, it'll do so much to give many more people a chance at winning, instead of the same few people every time. - fudsak, on 02/16/2008, -0/+1Why are they teasing us? Just release the game!
- Verz, on 02/16/2008, -0/+1And two in California.
Biased towards Asia as usual. - TantrooM, on 02/16/2008, -1/+1Um, this article is kinda silly, the NY tournament is on March 8th... that date sound familiar? I will be waiting in store lines that day to PURCHASE a particular game instead of playing it in some tournament.
