- tidu, on 10/11/2007, -5/+31Anyone watch the footage of Reggie... talking? I feel awkward watching it... His bad jokes don't make up for it, either.
- JonnyTrombone, on 10/11/2007, -5/+24Nintendo will always be #1 in my heart.
- inactive, on 10/11/2007, -5/+23*shrug* who cares about who's #1. It's all about the games.
(wii owner here) - Paroparo, on 10/11/2007, -0/+15That's one way of talking to a mass of people, slow and clear with important things emphasized.
But yeah, he sounds like he's never played a game before when he talks about the games themselves. - sexualaj, on 10/11/2007, -0/+14@diggthesite
Can we report this *****?
He keeps linking to a site called searchjerk, all the comments he posts on digg are about that stupid site.
I Kill You Spammer - lijamez, on 10/11/2007, -1/+14"What's better than whack-a-mole? How about zap-a-zombie?"
I cringed. - xerus, on 10/11/2007, -1/+14He started out smooth with "My name is Reggie, and I... am happy." then he turned into a robot. Robot Reggie is no fun.
- uppedbyhiggins, on 10/11/2007, -6/+17Okay, I'm calling shenanigans.
I'm sick of these comments: "Except Zelda and Wii Sports I haven't played it". Awesome. That means you probably haven't actually played a lot of the titles out for the Wii. Come on, the Wii may not have a catalog like the PS2 (not YET), but it has got a lot out there for a console that isn't even a year old. Play some of these and then report back to me:
-Super Paper Mario
-Wario Ware
-Rayman Raving Rabbids
-The Godfather (the wii edition has the best controls)
-Excite Truck
-Trauma Center
-Cooking Mama
And if you think those all suck (really?), I guess you'll have to wait until late august (Metroid). Or sell your Wii and get a 360. I don't know. I don't really care, just enough with these comments.
In the meantime, I'm happy for Nintendo, I think they're doing a good job keeping video games fun--the Wii was my reintroduction into gaming. - brocklese, on 10/11/2007, -3/+13I know exactly what you mean, he uses very bad "catch phrases" I guess you could call them, it makes it awkward.
"Gentlemen, and ladies, start your engines, for Mario Kart Wii"
"This game will turn the fight, to an absolute brawl, Smash Bros. Brawl"
Pretty awkward. - Gundark, on 10/11/2007, -1/+11Actually game developers care. They forecast sales based on market-share. They put the most time and money into games that will net them the biggest profit. If you think its all about the games, then you also care about number 1.
- Travisty2012, on 10/11/2007, -5/+14Quality is NOT rehashing old games / play styles / game types in to a high resolution console.
Quality IS reinventing gaming, bringing FUN back into, and making something new. - jazzmann04, on 10/11/2007, -1/+9So does this finally mean that third-party developers are going to start making more Wii games? And can someone convince Microsoft to let Rare release Wii games too? I wanna play Banjo-Kazooie 3 damit!
- jobobshishkabob, on 10/11/2007, -1/+8because you cant go into a store and buy one. they are going to be #1 in sales because if a store puts their stock of Wiis out, they will sell out in less than an hour, probably even before that.
- doshindude, on 10/11/2007, -5/+12STFU. Gameplay>Graphics.
- stupidStan, on 10/11/2007, -2/+9why is something different a gimmick?
With that thinking, Pong was a gimmick... look where it brought us - Malarie, on 10/11/2007, -0/+7I think the reason why the Wii is soo successfull is because it is a Social Console. You can play it with a lot of friends or your whole family. While the PS3 and Xbox are for more serious gamers. By social console i mean put an Xbox, PS3 and a Wii on a table surrounded by chics or people from all ages, they will probably choose the Wii. Non gamers dont really havea clue on how the PS or Xbox controllers work. They will say: Too much buttons. But even my old Grandma can swing a Wiii-mote.
I think Nintendo created the new foundations of the videogame industry with the Wii.
By the way, i am not a hardcore gamer. I still play my cube every once in a while but thats pretty much it. - boredsam, on 10/11/2007, -1/+7Ichiban!!!
- stupidStan, on 10/11/2007, -0/+5way to support your worthless opinion...
- johnhummel, on 10/11/2007, -3/+8No kidding - that Madden 2008 and Tiger Woods and Baseball games totally don't exist at all!
- inactive, on 10/11/2007, -1/+6I've bought rayman, zelda, wii play, RE4, and madden 2007. Out of those 5, only zelda, re4, and wii play were really worth the money. Out of those 3 I now only play RE4..because I haven't beaten it yet.
Nintendo does need better games right now, hopefully Q3-Q4 will be better. Still pissed Metroid won't have online though :( - vulapine, on 10/11/2007, -1/+5I've seen a lot of 360 users justify their purchase by talking about how many have sold.
And PS2 users made the same arguement in regards to the Xbox.
I hope you enjoy your gold medal. - jobobshishkabob, on 10/11/2007, -2/+6If you think good games can't be good without amazing graphics, please, by all means, stop playing video games. The Wii is NOT a gimmick. Obviously you've never played it for a good amount of time. It is by far the best console (besides my SNES :-) ) I've owned. Just look at Sony, who, by your definition, are "thinking about the future"... they had to make a price cut faster than Microsoft had to. Their sales are way behind Nintendo, their games, quite frankly, are not that great. You can walk into any store and see the PS3 in stock, because they are able to keep up with the LACK of demand. Nintendo has made and sold way more and you still, after over half a year, can't walk into a store without buying one, and stores can't put them out without them being sold out in an hour. I'm not a Sony hater, I have a PS2 and I love it. As Reggie said yesterday, Nintendo IS the future.
- jobobshishkabob, on 10/11/2007, -0/+4Pong was a copy of another game but we'll let that go for the sake of the argument...
- johnhummel, on 10/11/2007, -1/+4No kidding - I mean, them showing Medel of Honor with 32 multiplayer online - no online there! Or Wii Fit with online - what were they thinking? Or Mario Kart - no online there after all. Better toss out that Mario Strikers, and -
Online for the Wii is here. No, it's not Xbox Live - but as a guy with kids under 10, I'd rather not have them being told what ***** they are in that cesspool. I'm rather hoping that for M rated games, they just let people connect via boards, but we'll have to see. - Bkaufman, on 10/11/2007, -2/+5REIV....soon to come Metroid, SSB, Galaxies, Mario Kart.
- jobobshishkabob, on 10/11/2007, -1/+4Well said.
- Cyber_Akuma, on 10/11/2007, -1/+4Funny how both Sony and Microsoft are shooting for first place and can't make it but Nintendo does it by shooting for being #2.
- fantasticFlan, on 10/11/2007, -0/+3What makes you think the lack of good FPS will last long enough to catch up to them?
- jobobshishkabob, on 10/11/2007, -1/+4I own a Wii too, I know just as much about as you do. You are comparing current gen to previous gen in the price cuts. I was talking about the PS3 with the 360, not the original Xbox. And what ***** are you talking about? I was watching their press conference and for a good portion they were talking about 3rd party games that are also being released for the 360 (with equivalent graphics) and the Wii (with different gameplay). The only game I am excited that is a PS3 EXCLUSIVE is MGS4. Wii Sports and Zelda were launch titles. Obviously you did not follow E3. SSBB, Mario Galexy, Metroid, Mario Kart, and their increased 3rd party support (and Sony's loss of 3rd party support) is going to make Fall 07 - Spring 08 kick ass for the Wii.
- stupidStan, on 10/11/2007, -6/+9Kids and old people are a market too you idiot.
Just because the 'nerds on digg' demographic doesn't like the Wii doesn't mean that it is a failure.
I don't like 'Brats' but they seem to be doign fine without my support. - inactive, on 10/11/2007, -1/+4buried for just repeating everything said on the press conference.
- KingGoonie, on 10/11/2007, -1/+4um... GC sold liek 30 million and had many multimillion selling games throughout its life... so... how was it tucked away in closet? It sold almost as much as xbox, and actually sold more games..
- HolyChimp, on 10/11/2007, -0/+2Quality is mini game compilations... duh!
- mymidgetfriend, on 10/11/2007, -1/+3Dugg down, reported, blocked.
- mywhitenoise, on 10/11/2007, -0/+2I'm talking about Garage's comment. No ***** Nintendo is selling like crazy.
- Dracker, on 10/11/2007, -0/+2If you consider both consoles and handhelds, Nintendo DS is number 1 this generation, by a *HUGE* margin
http://vgchartz.com/hwcomps.php?cons1=Wii®1=All&cons2=DS®2=All&cons3=X360®3=All
If that times out, here's just the data:
10.08m X360s have been sold worldwide
9.05m Wiis have been sold worldwide
44.97m DSs have been sold worldwide
This does not change the fact that Wii will overtake Xbox 360 soon if it continues to sell at this amazing rate. - SpaceDreamer, on 10/11/2007, -1/+3Yes.
There is a "report it" link for that purpose.
It appears after you digg down his comment. - mywhitenoise, on 10/11/2007, -2/+4Zelda IS a Cube game. What's the other good Wii game out? RE4? Oh *****, that's a Cube game as well. Paper Mario? Wasn't that a Gamecube game ditched and moved over to Wii?
- psyonide, on 10/11/2007, -1/+3A bit off topic, but when reading so many diatribes as to why console A is better than console B, and generally seeing how gamers behave (at least online) I sometimes wonder if there are any SANE people who play video games.
Then I remind myself that these people are just the vocal minority and sane people usually have something better to do with their lives than hang around in forums and argue about video games as if they were debating the war in Iraq or stem cell research. I like video games as much as the next guy, but seeing people get so worked up over these pieces of plastic, circuits boggles the mind.
*prepares to be dugg down* - seifried, on 10/11/2007, -0/+2All I know is I have been looking off and on to buy a Wii for about 2 months now (I can't be bothered to line up or anything hence the not having it yet). Heck even my wife wants one (we had a chance to play Wii sports at a relatives house, she loved it). I can't imagine we're the only non computer game/console owning couple that is wanting to buy a Wii.
- mywhitenoise, on 10/11/2007, -1/+3That is by far the dumbest logic I have ever witnessed on digg.
Obviously they're number 1 because they can't keep their product on the shelves....because people want it, people buy it. I'm trying to think of ways to make it clearer for you. - orb_nsc, on 10/11/2007, -1/+3Yeah, Resident Evil 4, Scarface and Manhunt 2 are totally kiddy games. What are they thinking?
- Enterprise8875, on 10/11/2007, -5/+7Super Paper Mario, Wario Ware, Excite Truck, Resident Evil 4 etc. There are lots of great Wii games plus Virtual console and the big 3 coming out in the next few months. There are more games to play for Wii then there are hours in the day.
- mywhitenoise, on 10/11/2007, -2/+4They're focusing too much to appeal to the "everybody" market....I hate everybody! Instead of quality games, we're getting littered with *****.
- joey368, on 10/11/2007, -1/+3get a job, kid. 30 bucks will only get you a Wii points card & a controller glove.
- mywhitenoise, on 10/11/2007, -2/+4What an idiot. Like that price isn't going to spike to $300 in the last 2 minutes.
- Langford, on 10/11/2007, -0/+2#2 would be fine too, as long as there is enough of them in people's homes that developers are inclined to keep making more games for it. The more there are out there, the better it will be.
- SkippyDoorknob, on 10/11/2007, -0/+2The developers care. Whoever is selling the most consoles will have the most potential buyers of the games they make.
- mywhitenoise, on 10/11/2007, -0/+1I have a modded Wii and it plays online games fine (well the 2 ***** ones that the Wii has right now).
- TenebrousX, on 10/11/2007, -0/+1when enough people block him, he is banned
