- Mpwns, on 02/27/2009, -8/+110at this rate soon every game will have it's own controller.
- Pxtl, on 02/27/2009, -1/+64The N64 was the greatest controller ever made for people with three hands.
- inactive, on 02/27/2009, -2/+49Not bad but I will stick with my Gamecube controller for legacy games like F-zero and Smash.
- Sublex, on 02/27/2009, -6/+49I love the Classic. It's so bad.
- kingmanic, on 02/27/2009, -8/+32There are literally a handful of games which use the wii mote well. Nintendo sold us a slightly upgraded Gamecube on the premise of a innovative control scheme and under delivered in nearly every way. Almost all good games for the Wii are better played on a GC or classic controller (SSBB, Zelda, Mario Kart, Fire Emblem etc. . .). The wii mote didn't even do it's job that well and needs an add on (wii motion plus).
I've been pretty disappointed in Nintendo for the last year and they just continue to disappoint. - moomoomoomoo, on 02/27/2009, -5/+26Too.....Many.....Controllers........
- maduin, on 02/27/2009, -0/+18Sure it sucked in hindsight, but it was the first good controller for 3D games. Both the original PS and Saturn controllers didn't even have analog thumbsticks. The N64 controller made thumbsticks mainstream, without it, we may still be using D-pads. Not to forget the Rumble Pak, which is now incorperated into just about every modern controller.
- ebolaworld, on 02/27/2009, -0/+17They should release different system controllers (snes, n64, genesis) that plug into your wii remote.
- maduin, on 02/27/2009, -1/+18you mean N64 controller? Even if you meant that, it still would have a totally different button layout. Your video game knowledge is fail.
- ogenbite, on 02/27/2009, -2/+18So it's a PS3 controller duct taped to a Wii-mote?
- xprojects, on 02/27/2009, -2/+15lilbitmoreslyk: Zelda sucked balls with the Wiimote, I think that game gave me arthritis.
Some people (the ones that don't play games often or for long stretches of time) think motion controls are the best thing since sliced bread, and maybe the Motion+ attachment will help and 1:1 movement will be better for gameplay... but as it stands, aside from bowling and aiming, it seems it turned out to be a complete gimmick that actually does more to hurt than help.
Anyone who disagrees should note that most of the major games (apart from Metroid and WiiSports) still play the exact (save a few waggles) same way they would with a normal controller. Very few gameplay mechanics have been born to this Wiimote nonsense. - jeffwmartin, on 02/27/2009, -0/+12I vaguely remember getting a game on my Atari 2600 (yes, I'm old) that came with its own controller. I guess one button and a stick just wasn't enough for the game.
- LOGNATR, on 02/27/2009, -0/+12Looks like a Dualshock controller...hmmmmm.....
Not that I see anything wrong with that. The Dualshock is my favorite controller. It's basically an upgraded SNES controller. - maduin, on 02/27/2009, -5/+16PS3 = Rerelease a bunch of old games with HD graphics to make up for lack of creativity.
PSone + HD
Xbox 360 = Release the same FPS repackaged over and over again to take advantage of morons.
PC + Thumbsticks.
You = "dar dar dar, I'm a stupid fanboy... dar, my parents have to buy me things"
Human - Friends. - tbb73, on 02/27/2009, -7/+17Hey, Nintendo... you're not missing controllers, you're missing actual real games!!
- PhoenixAvatar2, on 02/27/2009, -0/+10At the expense of it's original fanbase.
- normalkid0615, on 02/27/2009, -1/+11They have more controllers than good games.
- WeaponAlpha, on 02/27/2009, -2/+12I believe you can get something similar at the hardware store.
- LostOverThere, on 02/27/2009, -5/+14Personally I prefer the SNES like Classic Controller much more then this one.
- watcht, on 02/27/2009, -1/+10What the ***** are you on? Honestly did you even think about what you just wrote? "one looks like an angel the other looks like a devil..."
- ZaxCG2, on 02/27/2009, -1/+10Its a classic controller with wings and bigger zL/zR buttons. If it has rumble then I'd be interested.
- ventralnet, on 02/27/2009, -1/+9Wii = revolutionary game interface that actually got the general public into playing.
- Takfam, on 02/27/2009, -3/+11Meh, I'd much prefer a recreation of the N64 controller. I won't buy some N64 games on the VC are because the controls seem just plain awkward with either the Gamecube or current classic controller.
- mattyboy555, on 02/27/2009, -1/+8Don't forget to spray paint it white.
- TurboBeard, on 02/27/2009, -0/+7I read it as 'Gamecube + gyros' - You know, the Mediterranean sandwich
That sounds delightful. - maduin, on 02/27/2009, -0/+6They've always been an add-on shill. The NES had the Power Glove, the Advantage, the Max, the Zapper, ROB, Power Pad, Famicom Disk System, just to name a few off the top of my head. Once you get the install base, you know you already have a built in market for add-ons. Nintendo is a business, and businesses are in it to make money.
- robopuppy, on 02/27/2009, -1/+7LOL, where do you think Sony got the idea for the original PS controller?
- LDawg, on 02/27/2009, -1/+6White = Angelic
Black = Devil?? - scooterbaga, on 02/27/2009, -7/+12I'm so glad I bought 4 classics now...
I don't think I've ever actually been mad at a console/game company before. This really should've been some sort of add-on for the existing controller. - MrFisty, on 02/27/2009, -0/+5A quick stocktake of my living room reveals: 2 wiimotes, 2 nunchuks, 1 zapper, 2 wiimote handguns, 1 classic controller, 1 gamecube controller, 2 DS3s, 1 sixaxis, 4 buzz buzzers, 1 buzz dongle, 2 guitars, 1 mic, 1 drum kit, 2 guitar dongles, 1 drum dongle, 2 DS2s, 1 wireless DS2, another dongle for that one, 2 360 controllers, 1 360 remote and a PS3 remote.
No wonder my missus stared daggers at me when I suggested getting a SF4 arcade pad. - Pxtl, on 02/27/2009, -0/+5Depends what it's for. Most of my use of the SNES classic controller doesn't use the right-hand joystick, or the L2/R2 buttons, so it doesn't bother me either... but for a full-out modern game that used all of those, it would be painful.
I wonder if this is an indicator of Nintendo moving away from Wiimote-fetishism and back to more "conventional" control systems that would require a more conventional gamepad? - vat0r, on 02/27/2009, -0/+5That all have to be used at once apparently.
- spaceyraygun, on 02/27/2009, -0/+450,000? you got 50,000 points on double dragon?!
- ed4649, on 02/27/2009, -1/+5This doesn't look like a Playstation controller at all!
- ventralnet, on 02/27/2009, -1/+51. Have a moderately sized audience of whiny nerds
2. Have a huge audience which includes my grandmother in her nursing home....
2. wins im afraid to say - Takfam, on 02/27/2009, -3/+7Hey, thanks for linking a big ***** dildo with no NSFW warning. Jackass.
- Hurricane, on 02/27/2009, -2/+6This is a Nintendoized version of the Sony Dual Analog PSX/PS1,PS2,PS3 controllers.
- inactive, on 02/27/2009, -0/+4It's really a software problem more than a hardware problem. I remember they had the same issue with the DS at first, though it got dealt with a lot more quickly. At first, every single friggin' DS game made use of the stylus, even if it added nothing, and sometimes it just made the game a pain in the ass (I'm looking at you, Dawn of Sorrow, which was otherwise an incredible game). Eventually, though, developers got over it, and realized that a different approach is needed. For some games, they just ignored the styles entirely, which was great. For other games, they realized that if they were going to use the stylus, the game had to be built up around it, that you can't just make a game and tack on the stylus at the end. And now we have great games that don't have the stylus at all, and great games that use the stylus surprisingly well.
- ventralnet, on 02/27/2009, -1/+5haha me too
- jeremymccurdy, on 02/27/2009, -0/+3Looks more like a beefy dual shock controller to me.
- TheObviousChild, on 02/27/2009, -0/+3To his credit, Lucas was the best Rad Racer of the land. I suppose you could say he was the Raddest Racer.
- KibibyteBrain, on 02/27/2009, -0/+3This basically looks like a cross between the GCN controller and the Wii classic controller, redone in a Wii design theme. Except I'd bet like the Wii Classic controller, the build quality is not as good as the GCN controller, so I'll probably still be sticking with the wavebirds as long as they last. Its not really a new controller, more of a version 2.0 of the Wii classic controller, and barely an innovation at that.
- m0rn1n6s74r, on 02/27/2009, -0/+3hopefully it will be instock.... EVER.
- Avarise, on 02/28/2009, -2/+5Nintendo has always failed at controllers, like the current 'classic' controller which, for no good reason at all, has to be plugged into the wiimote... from the most akward position on the controller. Seriously, in order for the classic controller to work it has to be wired to a stick. Badly.
Now they just need to put the buttons in the right place. - EricAnderton, on 02/27/2009, -0/+3My thoughts too.
In fact, shouldn't there be a hack or third-party do-hickey that lets one plug a dualshock into a wiimote?
Then again, how about a bluetooth bridge for a dualshock? - Shaflugi, on 02/27/2009, -0/+3You HAVE to stick to the Gamecube controller. When the Wii switches into Gamecube mode, you can't use anything Wiimote related, the Wii's bluetooth isn't even on :/.
It's too bad, too.. before the Wii came out, I was hoping I could play Melee with a classic controller. Turns out the controller sucks for anything not SNES, anyways. - khyberkitsune, on 02/27/2009, -1/+4Nothing new to see here, different-shaped PSX controller. Maybe the analog sticks don't have buttons in them but otherwise this doesn't look like much of anything NEW at all.
- ventralnet, on 02/27/2009, -1/+4Link down. here is direct link to image.
http://o.aolcdn.com/gd-media/galleries/399/a_NES-A ... - LightUrple, on 02/27/2009, -0/+3But...you haven't even used this one yet. ....Or have you?!?
- LDawg, on 02/27/2009, -1/+4Um, no. Every game should NOT have its own controller. Go to the arcade if that's the experience you want.
