- Charlotte_Web, on 03/26/2009, -0/+4The DSi has TWO cameras (inside/outside), four times more RAM than the DS, slightly larger screens, better speakers, and an SD card slot. It also loses the GBA port, so no backwards compatibility and no Guitar Hero.
It also will allow you to connect to the online store, similar to the Wii Store and iPhones app store.
The loss of the GBA port was the deal breaker for me; I recently purchased my third DS Lite. - Caleb83, on 03/26/2009, -2/+6It's surprising at how many comments say "a ds is not a console" and how many idiots dugg them up. A console is a device made to play video games. If a DS or PSP or Gameboy aren't consoles, what are they? If you say handheld, I say *****. handheld is an adjective. to what, you say? oh yeah, consoles.

No one wanted one back then and everyone was saying how stupid it was to have a dual screen, touch screen handheld gaming device. That changed after the DS released multiple good games aimed at the masses (MarioCart, NintendoDogs, SuperMario Bros) along with a slim design, and suddenly the DS became super hot while the psp went down the drain.
Games and prices can make or break a console. DS had the ability to play some movies and mp3s through homebrew OS but didn't pretend to be anything else, hopefully Sony has learned from this. - Caleb83, on 03/26/2009, -0/+2Did you throw the "who cares" comment just so that no one could respond with "Who cares about your comment?"

Sure when they release the next iPhone .. it may boost the sales rate and they may get the 100 million number in under 224 weeks.. but even if that happens there is the slight problem of the iPhone, the iPhone 3G and the upcoming iPhone being THREE DIFFERENT PRODUCT RELEASES. And btw, the iPod Touch is a different product too.

Just because the display and input device is built in, doesn't mean that it's not a console. Once again, "handheld" or "portable" defines what kind of console it is.
