- supyonamesjosh, on 10/10/2007, -4/+75Just a reminder, Ocarina of time didn't get a 10 out of 10 from Nintendo Power
- sparkmonkeyz, on 10/10/2007, -3/+48When have you seen Nintendo Power review a game with awesome scores that didn't get awesome scores from other magazines? If anything, in many cases they have been harsher on their 1st party titles.
- EDmAN, on 10/10/2007, -0/+28I haven't read any preview yet that has claimed this game as anything but the FPS or should I say first person adventure that proves the Wii remotes FPS capabilities. I don't think Nintendo power is bias. They have given some 7-8 range scores to first party nintendo games in the past, and I don't believe they've given out many 10s. Some publications give 10s at a drop of the hat, that is why I look towards IGN, Gamespot (sometimes), and for Nintendo Nintendo Power. The official PSM isn't bad for Playstation games either...
- Rikkochet, on 10/10/2007, -1/+26Have you read NP lately? They're quite brutal with most reviews - I've yet to see anything PR-mouthpiece-like in it.
- Zap2, on 10/10/2007, -0/+23IGN give MP:C a 9.5...there it is, MP:C, along with BioShock, are the games to own!
http://wii.ign.com/articles/815/815424p4.html - Renton, on 10/10/2007, -0/+22I think the only game to get a 10 from NP so far is RE4.
- KnockoutNerd, on 10/10/2007, -4/+25Yeah but back when OoT came out they had a different rating system, they recently added 10/10.
- Mewchu11, on 10/10/2007, -0/+21Provide a bigger twist ending than the original
- inactive, on 10/10/2007, -1/+16It probably can't blend.
- hasahugedig, on 10/10/2007, -1/+15IGN's review is out. It got a 9.5. You should go to the last page of the review where they have their break down, and compare it to Bioshock's. It's practically the same. They gave Bioshock a 9.7 though, of course they are different reviewers.
- reddevil3, on 10/10/2007, -0/+12IGN is going to post it's score in half an hour (3 AM Eastern, 12 AM West Coast). I'm guessing 9.5.
- Renton, on 10/10/2007, -0/+12IGN gave it a 9.5
- skywake, on 10/10/2007, -4/+14Metroid can't do a barrel roll....
- meshgiath, on 10/10/2007, -0/+9Apparently "other-system fanboy" hasn't ever read Nintendo Power. They have no problem bashing Games made by Nintendo if they suck. They haven't since the late 1990's. It's usually best to comment on things you have some working knowledge about, not just something you have a gut feeling or suspicion about.
- Rodman930, on 10/10/2007, -0/+8No. It will cost you $53.
- inactive, on 10/10/2007, -0/+8Yeah, WTF. And if the next Zelda doesn't have multiplayer I'm going to effing flip out over that too.
Some people need to realize that not every single game is cut out for multiplayer. As Metroid Prime 2 proved, multiplayer doesn't necessarily do much for the Metroid series. - samdu, on 10/10/2007, -1/+9I'm by no mens a fan of MS, but the other replies hit it on the head. Metroid Prime doesn't NEED multiplayer. Why is everyone so insistent on EVERY game having multiplayer? Metroid is an adventure game. By its very nature, it's more about the story than anything else. If you want to go all death-match on people, there are plenty of multiplayer shooters out there for you. Substituting Samus' arm cannon would be just that. Enjoy what the game designers intended for you to enjoy and quit yer bitchin'.
- Shanobi, on 10/10/2007, -0/+8You have no idea what you're talking about. Go watch the IGN review.
You lock on targets simply as a strafe point, auto aiming your weapon with the wii remote.
On easy, there is an auto-lock-fire, but there are 3 other control settings the advanced one being, as IGN put it, the best control scheme available on any console, ever. - Shanobi, on 10/10/2007, -0/+7Anybody who thinks they're biased, should have seen my post about that in the last MP3 Nintendo Power thread. They score their own games lower on average than every other major publication. Anybody who thinks NP scores are biased, clearly doesn't read NP.
They are brutal. - MechaZain, on 10/10/2007, -0/+7After everyone's reaction to the controls, I'm hyped. Maybe if this sells well compared to the first two Nintendo can revitalize the rumored Metroid Dread project to top it all off.
A guy can dream, right? - conman16x, on 10/10/2007, -0/+7you know, typing "is" and "than" is redundant if you use the > symbol.
- opnickc, on 10/10/2007, -2/+9"but the nixing of the promised multiplayer is so disappointing"
Show me where they EVER said Metroid Prime 3 would have multiplayer. You can be dissapointed if you want, but don't act like Nintendo promised then didn't deliver. This was something never in the game to begin with!
"Let's stop making excuses for Nintendo and start demanding that Nintendo step into this millenium when it comes to mulitplayer."
Don't forget to tell the guys who made Bioshock while you're at it. - Shanobi, on 10/10/2007, -3/+10Gametrailers.com: 9.6
"Some of the greatest moments of gaming, ever burned to disc."
"No better control option, ever concieved."
"You'll never want to play dual analogue, ever again."
"A near religious experience."
Visuals: "MP3 proves that art trumps all." "Holds it's own against any other console."
"After a couple of hours, Nintendo's theory of gameplay over graphics will make total sense." - gwhardyiv, on 10/10/2007, -1/+7Sure. You can have multiplayer. It's called Halo.
- Coridan, on 10/10/2007, -2/+8So your saying the rating system only went up to 9.5 before?
Someone's in denial. - thebellmaster1x, on 10/10/2007, -1/+7It'd be blogspam if it were some guy talking about how much he loves the game.
Quote from Nintendo Power != blogspam - Diggtatorship, on 10/10/2007, -0/+6Good call
- Mrstupid7, on 10/10/2007, -0/+5Soon you'll be bitching about Final Fantasy and Zelda not having decent multiplayer.
- KnockoutNerd, on 10/10/2007, -0/+5No I am saying they used to rate the games using 5 stars.
- Epacitythug, on 10/10/2007, -3/+8Is there anything Metroid cant do?
- piratearggghhh, on 10/10/2007, -2/+7Even hinting at this being better than Ocarina is seriously setting it up for never meeting expectations. I've seen that leaked hour long video and it looks pretty good but I don't see anything that's more spectacular that Ocarina during its time. I mean if it's all based on the controls, they better be super incredible to justify a 10, which means "perfect" pretty much.
- redlemon, on 10/10/2007, -1/+6because. you CAN get some multiplayer. just look at every xbox fps, or computer fps, or computer rts... i mean jesus, maybe they didn't include multi because it didn't work very well with the games engine. ya know?
- mymidgetfriend, on 10/10/2007, -0/+5Haha, nice
- Toupee, on 10/10/2007, -0/+4GV is a great game, but I don't think it's Metroid in any sense really.
- KireGoTI, on 10/10/2007, -0/+3Let's look at these reviews in a different light.
Sonic and the Secret Rings: 7.6
Shadow the Hedgehog: 4.8
Red Steel: 5.5
Killer 7: 8.3
Super Monkey Ball: Banana Blitz: 8.3
Resident Evil: Deadly Silence: 7.9
Star Fox Command: 7.5
What horribly biased source stays within a point range for so many titles? Give up? It's Gamespot.
This is some serious muckraking. First of all, very few of these games are horrible, or even bad. Only two of them rate below 7.5 on Gamespot's own ranking. And, as you said, none of these examples are even first party games (although Star Fox is a franchise). - zofobread, on 10/10/2007, -1/+4Why is tikkimann being dugg down? All of those games received pretty high ratings and they all BLEW!
I mean Red Steel? Come on! - KireGoTI, on 10/10/2007, -0/+3I follow game reviews very closely, and Nintendo Power always pisses me off. Ever notice that games that were on Gamecube and also PS2 tended to rate higher on PS2? Nintendo Power is part of the problem. They would frequently rate games way lower than the press average.
People on the IGN board are saying that Nintendo Power is biased the same way as XBox and PS magazines. Those magazines usually rate games higher. NP rates them lower. That's a bias, I guess, but not in the way people are thinking. - Mrstupid7, on 10/10/2007, -0/+3A good example of the quality of the story versus quality of multiplayer. Halo's story sucked no matter how you cut it and the single player was very hohum. The multiplayer was quite alright though.
- Shanobi, on 10/10/2007, -2/+5You're a moron. I guess every game website, magazine, and fan of RE4 is wrong about it being the best version of RE4 available because you, joe internet user, say so.
- inactive, on 10/10/2007, -0/+2Your mom != news
- AK10, on 10/10/2007, -0/+2I beat RE4 twice on the Gamecube and it is an excellent game. It's the thumbstick + arcade shooter reticle aiming I can't stand.
And then all the RE fanbois come in and digg me down for "probably never even playing the game" because in this case I found the traditional controls better? That's just sad. - Zap2, on 10/10/2007, -2/+4So far, but Prime 3 looks to change that.
- devjunkie, on 10/10/2007, -0/+2Nah, 3D Metroid is just fine.
- Mrstupid7, on 10/10/2007, -1/+3*****. Utter and total *****. I have a feeling someone hasn't even played RE4 or doesn't know how to learn.
- MarkOfTheDead, on 10/10/2007, -0/+2Gamestop preorders don't really cover much more than bragging rights these days. Especially when you can pick it up five bucks cheaper at your local big box.
- Shanobi, on 10/10/2007, -1/+2Gametrailers.com: 9.6

"After a couple of hours, Nintendo's theory of gameplay over graphics will make total sense." - Coridan, on 10/10/2007, -0/+1It's called digging the title and not reading the article. Yes, they have Digg access in Soviet Russia too.
- ssj27gohan, on 10/10/2007, -0/+1People just seem to think "Oh there's guns, there better be multiplayer", which is why they're complaining about the lack of multiplayer in MP3. Though I agree with Samdu, basically Metroid multiplayer would be the same as every other multiplayer shooter but with Samus' arm cannon.
- Shanobi, on 10/10/2007, -0/+1IGN 9.5
Vibe magazine 9.5
Those are the two other than NP's review that I've seen so far. - Ashex, on 10/10/2007, -0/+1Agreed. I was at PAX over the weekend and Nintendo had 3 consoles with Metroid 3, look absolutely amazing and everyone who picked it up was able to get acclimated to the controls very quickly. Unfortunately there was a line of people so I didn't get to play :(
