Seems to sum the place up quite nicely. - Renton, on 10/10/2007, -3/+47Anyone know where I can get some ROMs?
- NipGrip, on 11/06/2007, -1/+43Well, that's a very surprising move. Way to break up a great community you had going, Nintendo. Yes, you can all now go to the various other forums on the internet and hope to find your old friends again. Very lame, Nintendo. This along with the word that Nintendo Power is going to cease to be as we know it are two moves that leave many scratching their heads as to "What the ***** are they thinking??"
- Pitfan, on 10/18/2007, -4/+40damn, I used to moderate those forums. Apparently no one was really warned (including the usermods).
This probably has something to do with the NOA headquarters moving..? - inactive, on 10/10/2007, -3/+29Yeah, I don't think anyone will miss them too bad. They were way out of control. The rate of having an intelligent conversation was about 1/1000. But I didn't expect much anyway....official forums are always bad.
- inactive, on 11/06/2007, -2/+26The little bastards better steer clear of Digg!
- MewtwoReturns, on 10/10/2007, -0/+22Honestly, I don't see this as a really bad thing, if they put up a new board where features aren't withheld.
The one big thing that turned me away from NSider forums was how many posts/how much time you had to have logged into the board before certain things were enabled. Seriously, 1,681 posts and 18,480 required pageviews before you're allowed to edit posts, something that should be available from YOUR FIRST POST? 11,257 posts before you can delete your own posts? 1,212 posts before you can even have a signature, and 37,000+ posts before you can have a full 90 pixel signature, short of earning it in a contest?
Seriously, 37,000 non-spam posts should be earning a free Wii pre-loaded with every single Virtual Console title in existence, not a signature and self-editing/deletion.
Hopefully they change that horrible rank system should they bring up a new message board. - REUYL, on 11/06/2007, -3/+20I miss Power On already. :(
So where are us Nsiders supposed to go now? - Microdot, on 11/06/2007, -3/+19nintendo is not about real gamers anymore. casual "gamers" (i use that term loosely... they arent gamers, merely someone who likes to weing their arms around the living room) are not on the internet clamoring about games. they dont care. they pick up the shiny fun box from the local walmart of gamestop, and play whatever it is.
sure... there are those of you out there (myself at one point as well) that consider yourself core gamers that own a wii... but you are in large part, a minority now with nintendo.
it fits their new image. the thanks shown to all of us that have made nintendo what they are today, was in the form of a pink slip.
***** you nintendo. ***** you very much. - StormCommander, on 10/10/2007, -1/+16Man... this sucks
- RMDTech, on 10/10/2007, -0/+14This does not surprise me at all. In fact this is the second time the removed their forums from their website. The first time pissed off a lot more people too. I mean they were one of the first major message boards on the net in the time of AOL. But oh well. Life goes on and everyone finds other forums to visit.
- Diggrock, on 10/10/2007, -0/+13Try a couple hundred thousand people...
- ReRush, on 10/18/2007, -1/+14I know that most forums are filled with morons. But as a Sage of this forum, I think I can quite confidently say that Nsider ranks very highly in number of idiots to intelligent people ratio. I've been at Nsider for four years and this exactly why I don't visit anymore.
Glad I'm not missing anything. - huelen10, on 10/10/2007, -11/+23I do not know what to say sadly......... What will be of all my friends? I miss .SHY, Merit Celaire, and KEZAY already........
My review of the Sonic Rush Adventure OST will be up somewhere else, but it just won't be the same......
And BRONSEN? I never got a chance to thank him for being such a good help and a friend to me. Wherever you are, thank you kindly. Goodbye my friends. - Synn, on 10/10/2007, -0/+10I wonder if this has anything to do with the "surprise" Reggie talked about for this month.
- REUYL, on 10/10/2007, -0/+10"Starting Sept. 17, existing NSider Forums will be available in Read Only format for one week. Private Messages will be disabled. On Monday, Sept. 24, the forums will be removed from public view."
No, the forums are not coming back. - fashnek, on 10/10/2007, -6/+16Well, there's always Nin10doh. A pretty active community of NSiders has been going on there for 4 years.
- inactive, on 10/10/2007, -1/+10Since when did a real world move affect an internet community? I doubt they had the forum servers under their desks.
- Smwbigboss, on 10/10/2007, -0/+9In before... Goddamn it!
- defectDS, on 10/10/2007, -2/+11Now times "SHADOW'S RACING MAMA LUIGI" by his 16649 post count and then times that by another 10,000 users who post the same way. Now you have the formula for a "discussion" in those forums.
Intelligence really was a needle in a haystack, I can't tell if I miss it or not. - Shorties, on 10/10/2007, -0/+9You know I signed up the first week (When it still was called HTS and a Zelda only forum) and had been a constant member for about 3 years. I have popped in an out since then but I have to say its really sad to see it go. After Camp Hyrule and now this it seems they are really abandoning their hardcore fans in favor of this "Casual Gamer" that they seem to love... I sorta feel cheated on. I loved you Nintendo you will always have a place in my heart from my childhood, but you just can't screw over fans like this.
(BTW I was SHORTY on Nsider) - matthewf01, on 10/10/2007, -2/+11man i'll tell ya what... ***** thank god.
that forum was so ridden with completely retarded threads started by pre-teens creaming their pants about their birthday and christmas and what mommy and daddy might have gotten them, and just being retarded; i called one kid out on his retardation, and estimated his age at about 12... he threatened to "sue me" because I "asked his age over the internet".
Uh yea... - Klarth, on 10/10/2007, -0/+8That post reads like a ***** Onion editorial.
"All the memories... My Unofficial Bleach Thread... All gone. I shall have to cancel my wedding to make amends!" - Amablue, on 10/10/2007, -0/+7The one thing I liked about the Nsider forums is the thing I also hate the most about it: Everyone is dumb, so I'm a genius by comparison. I think I even like the GameFAQs boards more than Nsider, though it was fun to show off things like the Wiimote hooked up to my computer with OoT running on an emulator to all the kids there.
- inactive, on 10/10/2007, -2/+9Reddit
- Innagadadavida, on 10/10/2007, -1/+8Haha! I get it!
- ReRush, on 10/10/2007, -1/+7Good heavens. If we're going to pull inside jokes in this digg topic... at least get them right..
Happy birthday topy!!!!!!!! - Leo21k, on 10/10/2007, -0/+6Nah, real life friends are a money sink.
- rand21althor, on 10/10/2007, -0/+4Thanks a lot, ELRADE.... ;)
- Nightwavex, on 10/10/2007, -0/+4Wow, they could have at least gave us a heads up of when this was going to happen. I didnt even know it was going to happen.
Cya all you NSiders. - TdiFFRob6876, on 10/10/2007, -0/+4It would be nice if they made an Nsider Channel for those that didn't buy the Opera Browser. Also a solution center could be integrated to reduce the annoying phone calls.
- Pitfan, on 10/10/2007, -0/+4His birthday is everyday! (no one understands what you're talking about, lv).
- inactive, on 10/10/2007, -0/+4"Nintendo must unfortunately close the Nintendo NSider Forums message boards indefinitely" - While this could mean they are working on a NEW (insert name here) forum, this pretty much says its R.I.P.: "we invite our fans to build on the spirit of community by starting their own Nintendo discussion sites."
Stick a fork in it. - tidu, on 10/10/2007, -0/+4lol @ LEO_LAPORTE
- joe90210, on 10/10/2007, -0/+4dude.....just no..
- STKD, on 10/10/2007, -0/+4Then you haven't been paying attention. Nintendo was never just for "gamers". Nintendo was, is, and hopefully always will be for EVERYONE.
- NecroSexy, on 10/10/2007, -2/+6And the fact that your username is IN ***** CAPS.
Actually, to add to your point, on top of the difficulty of sheer mass is content. The users generally aren't exactly mature. - NeoCortex, on 10/10/2007, -0/+3Gamefaqs. I just know they are all going to find their way to the forums on Gamefaqs.
- rand21althor, on 10/10/2007, -4/+7This came as a huge shock to me, early this afternoon. I was going to post around, as I usually do in the afternoons (I'm RAND_AL'THOR, btw). Instead, I saw that message from Andy.
Well, I'm gonna miss my NSider friends: DR_COOL, LIGHT_SPEED, DALEK, _THE_DOCTOR_, SUPERMEAT05, ELRADE, LEO_LAPORTE, EGWENE23, NINTENDOKING, LINKSFAN, and all the others.
I first joined Nintendo's online community back in '98, back before NSider, or even Hyrule Town Square, was launched. I've seen the forums go through many changes, and am sad that it has all come to an end.
Power On was my home, on that forum. My Unofficial Doctor Who Thread, Unofficial Bleach Thread, both gone.
All those good times, gone. NSider, you shall be missed. - luet, on 10/10/2007, -0/+2Well, now that I think about it, most of the time I spent on there I hated it. The entire population of users were hypocritical, pompous, idiotic, and elitist. Imagine a whole forum made up of wanna-be bourgeoisie. Not to mention you would get banned for the stupidest things. I was banned twice, the first time for bypassing a censor for "dumbass" and the second time for trading pokemon (really, not kidding). I met two people from that site who have turned out to be pretty good friends of mine, which was pretty much the only bonus. Really, I'm kind of glad it's gone now.
- masterthiefster, on 10/10/2007, -0/+2Perhaps one only the Wii Browser (or at least its user agent) can access... which wouldn't help matters any.
- rand21althor, on 10/10/2007, -0/+2I've a feeling this is not true. That line that Andy posted, that the forums will be removed from public view on the 24th, causes me to doubt bluefaced01.
- sportymario, on 10/10/2007, -0/+2Lol! Have you ever really been to the forums for an extended period?
there isn't like constant, mindless love for the DS and Wii there...intelligent posters or not! - TheRealDj, on 10/10/2007, -1/+3indefinitely means they have no current plans to bring it back.
- zaybertamer, on 10/10/2007, -0/+2At least the last thread created (not comment) was an ask for help. That is a good reason for forums.
http://forums.nintendo.com/nintendo/board/message?board.id=zelda&message.id=2558925
But really, such a dumb move on Nintendo's part. I can see temporarily closing it, but not throwing it out the window and starting fresh. - RMDTech, on 10/10/2007, -0/+2No actually they closed it after getting there own website not while on AOL's. I think it would be about a year or two after they stopped doing Interactive Stories on their website, which I think was their biggest draw in the first place.
And no this time they didn't even go out with a warning. Just one day went to the site and said the forums were down and we thought they were fixing them but they stayed down for about five or six years. - demeteloaf, on 10/10/2007, -1/+3HAPPY BIRTHDAY TOPY!!!!!1!!!
- SystmBetatester, on 10/10/2007, -0/+2great. now they have to find a new place to whore.
- Pitfan, on 10/10/2007, -1/+3Since the main people that run the forums won't be working there anymore.
Just a thought. -
