- dagooh, on 11/14/2007, -1/+172I've played that game so many times that I wouldn't mind a remake just so I can enjoy it on a different level.
- BlackholeStorm, on 11/14/2007, -3/+152The quote from Aonuma:
"Ocarina of Time was the first title I worked on, and I was continuously tackling challenges every day during its development, so I think this is the title I feel I impacted the most…I have to say though, the first Zelda game that I played and felt potential in was Link to the Past. I'm actually very interested in what it would be like if we remade that title as a 3D game."
He didn't really say Nintendo was going to make one, or even really considering it. He just said that he would be interested in what it would be like. I would guess he's speaking as an individual, not for the company. - NikoK, on 11/14/2007, -4/+116This would result in an infinit Wii shortage....and then the world would explode.
Also they should make a revamped Goldeneye 007 for the wii, Every nintendo fan would go crazy and splurge - bbqsalad, on 11/14/2007, -3/+61Best of the series imho.
- DBiz, on 11/14/2007, -2/+59If there's one game deserving in the Zelda franchise, it's A Link to the Past.
One of the largest Zelda worlds to date, and not to mention one of the best soundtracks...
How great would the Lost Woods and Dark World look in full 3D glory? I really don't care if it pushes back future Zelda games, keep it looking like Twilight Princess and I'll plop down $49 in a heartbeat. - scooterbaga, on 11/14/2007, -1/+45I hate you. Damn you and your logical statement.
- inactive, on 11/14/2007, -3/+34DO IT NOW!!!!!!!!
- Genjeta, on 11/14/2007, -3/+32I'm all for it as long as it doesn't interfere with the development of future new Zelda titles.
- beckerist, on 11/14/2007, -0/+25Between that and "Link's Awakening" for the first game boy, if they were to remake either I would be set for weeks!
- Klak, on 11/14/2007, -3/+25uhh one just came out for DS. also twilight princess is fairly new
- nights0223, on 11/14/2007, -0/+19Or, since LA is a direct sequel to ALTTP, they could just put them both on the same disc.
- Terra21, on 11/14/2007, -2/+21Hmm, dunno if it could compete with the orignal, the one for the snes was one of the best.
- andrewsavage, on 11/14/2007, -7/+24I do have to say that "A Link To The Past." IMO, is the best game ever made. And to remake it, may take something away from it.
- Spuy767, on 11/14/2007, -0/+17So long as there is no creative license taken with the original game, this would be the greatest thing ever.
- inactive, on 11/14/2007, -2/+19Get away from Zelda games. MMOs ruin everything.
- Psythik, on 11/14/2007, -1/+18Does this article remind anyone else of the Chrono Trigger 3D remake?
http://www.opcoder.com/projects/chrono/ - MikeMayer, on 11/14/2007, -1/+17This would be amazing. LTTP is the very best 2D Zelda game ever made.
I would LOVE it if they made a 3D version!
This made my day. - gungaroo22, on 11/14/2007, -2/+17They just came out with 2 new ones in the past year. Tard.
- random19, on 11/14/2007, -2/+16UPDATE: They just set a release date.
Its coming out the same day as the FFVII remake. - mjbinon, on 11/14/2007, -0/+13Wow, that is just an awful idea. What about the Zelda series would lend itself to anything MMO?
- plizard, on 11/14/2007, -1/+13considering a link to the past didn't have that option, i think you'll be safe
- SocialPoison, on 11/14/2007, -0/+12That would be the first time I've spotted that particular grammatical blunder.
- spyrochaete, on 11/14/2007, -0/+12You and 7 million others were born without faeries. Wait 10 minutes for the deku boss to respawn out of thin air to prove your worth. Then collect 12 mushrooms for witches brew. Long live the land of Hyruleroth.
- thefandango, on 11/14/2007, -2/+14yeah except rare and nintendo have long since parted ways, and EA owns the rights to all future MGM video game properties.
that's why you'll never see goldeneye on the VC either. - mrmagos, on 11/15/2007, -1/+13LTTP was a great game, leave it be. Just the other day, I was thinking that the bastard stepchild of the series, Zelda II, would be a good candidate for a remake. The story was decent, the world was large and engaging, but the gameplay was horrendous.
- Otto, on 11/14/2007, -0/+12While the MMO idea is clearly stupid, having a networked cooperative small team game could be quite fun. Say, a 4 player team game where each colored Link had to do things at the same time and such, similar to Four Swords but online.
- dafragsta, on 11/14/2007, -0/+11I'd like to see the original gold cartridge 8-bit Zelda get the Super Mario All-Stars treatment.
- harajukukei, on 11/14/2007, -1/+12i agree, recently i played it on my nds via a snes emulator for the same reason. my fav. of the zelda series, and prob in my top 5 all time games as well.
- KingGoonie, on 11/14/2007, -2/+13How the hell do you figure Link to the Past is like Ocarina or Twilight?
- ScottyMcBaggs, on 11/14/2007, -1/+11Holy *****... holy... *****, I had never even heard of that, WHY wouldn't Square just buy them out?? I am pisst, it looks incredible from the screenshots.
- doshindude, on 11/14/2007, -0/+9it wasn't in MM, WW, or TP, so stfu.
- mattsw84, on 11/14/2007, -1/+10This is the first time an internet article gave me a hard on.
- inactive, on 11/14/2007, -0/+9So? All Zelda games are like this. Just the way Metal Gear games start you out with just a gun, and you pick everything else up along the way. Same way Mega Man has to acquire everything in every game.
Its common that major themes carry over from game to game. They pit you in all kinds of environments. The only place Link hasn't been is space, and rightfully so. - hockey, on 11/14/2007, -0/+8If all they did was simply recreate the game with a 3D world it would still be awesome. Same puzzles, same locales, everything.
- drlha, on 11/14/2007, -0/+8You could just buy the GBA version (a more or less direct port) and play it on your DS.
- vpshockwave, on 11/14/2007, -0/+8Link to the Past was my first video game when I was real young, and I absolutely LOVED it. I still play it at least 10 times a year. I'm not sure how they'd remake it 3D -- but the thought just sounds awesome. Of course, from the sound of the interview, it doesn't sound like they'll *actually* be doing it, but the thought is nice.
- JlmAWP, on 11/14/2007, -2/+10Did you read the article? Or just comment?
I'm thinking the latter. - crichton101, on 11/14/2007, -0/+8 EA owns the rights to all future MGM video game properties, so as far as Goldeneye is concerned for the VC that should not even be an issue because it would simply be a past game being brought to the VC. The only parties involved would be Nintendo, MGM and Rare, and ofcourse the actors involved due to likeness issues and/or rights.
- Synn, on 11/14/2007, -2/+10Remakes of classics are never a good idea? Resident Evil Remake was amazing. Metroid: Zero Mission kicked ass. Metal Gear Solid: Twin Snakes was cool. What are you talking about?
- bubbakja, on 11/14/2007, -0/+8Can you say Wii Ware?
- Ub3rg33k, on 11/14/2007, -1/+9Development on a Zelda Wii title (not a GC port like TP was) has been underway for at least a year already, probably more like two by now.
- LunarOcean, on 11/14/2007, -0/+7My four bottles seem to say otherwise. Well, okay, at least one of them does. The others can have scrumptious potions of win.
- inactive, on 11/14/2007, -2/+9Some popular items and characters are carried over, but the lands and dungeons are different game to game. He's just trolling.
- briankoenig03, on 11/14/2007, -1/+8I'm not sure what the poster means by "non-games", but if he's referring to the plethora of sub-par minigame collections on the Wii, Nintendo isn't to blame unless you are blaming them for making a successful console (which attracts low-budget, cash-in-quickly developers). Look at the games Nintendo itself has released: Wii Sports, Zelda:TP, Metroid 3, Super Mario Galaxy, Wario Ware, Mario Strikers Charged, etc. If these are "non-games" then I love non-games!
- Firehed, on 11/14/2007, -0/+7They could make a Zelda suite, but I think the word you wanted was "sweet".
- HappyScrappy, on 11/14/2007, -3/+9Link to the Past is the best one. But it's key that it have top-down view, and very uncluttered graphics. Don't mess it up by making it first-person or over the shoulder view.
- jnosanov, on 11/14/2007, -0/+6Apparently so.
- curtosrules, on 11/14/2007, -0/+6have you been under a rock or something? They all relate, but none are really "remakes" of another.
- illt, on 11/14/2007, -0/+6personally i'd rather see a highly stylized 2d remake.
- sinizuh, on 11/14/2007, -2/+8Remaking a Zelda game? Yahtzee (Zero Punctuation) brought up a lot of good points about the Zelda series in his review of "Zelda Phantom Hourglass". I think Nintendo has climbed out of the hole they dug themselves into a couple of years ago, so now it's time for something new and exciting!
