- cozamonkey, on 03/06/2008, -3/+70They should have done this with Brawl too :(
- theragu40, on 03/06/2008, -1/+39$2000 for a 30" display? You've been had, my friend.
- dragonlor20, on 03/06/2008, -1/+27Or you could have just kept Excite Truck and bought the other games IN ADDITION to Excite Truck. Excite Truck really is a great game, easily one of the better releases thus far, and certainly one of the most compatible racing titles with the Wii Remote.
- inactive, on 03/06/2008, -2/+24God dammit. Digg REALLY needs a "suggest a better link" feature. Skip the blog and get the info undiluted and unedited from NINTENDO:
http://www.nintendo.co.uk/NOE/en_GB/news/2007/goin ... - MagnumVP, on 03/06/2008, -2/+22I hope they don't make it too complicated. That is what made the 64 version so great and addicting. Simple, easy and everyone played it could at least grasp it. Just because the controller has a button doesn't mean that it needs to be used. I just need an accelerator, brake, stearing, "hard" turn and the ability to fire my turtle shell forward or backward.
- a6n28f, on 03/06/2008, -0/+18What are you talking about? It has the "Apple" logo on it. That clearly makes it the greatest display ever.
Idiot. - YuriSakazaki, on 03/06/2008, -0/+14They seem to be taking notes on what makes XBL work and slowly working them into their products, which is nice too see.
- aydoubleyou, on 03/06/2008, -3/+15Honestly, I look forward to this more than Brawl.
- Failchan, on 03/06/2008, -2/+12The fanboys on Gamespot take that a little too far by adding comments like "once again Nintendo are the innovators". Of course, if you're on Gamespot you already know you're in hell.
- inactive, on 03/06/2008, -2/+11According to Sakurai (Smash Bros. creator), having leaderboards, voice chat, and ranked matches would hurt people's feelings.
Oh, and people would be pissed if he added too many third party characters... and adding too many characters would make the game bloated (yet apparently adding endless levels wouldn't).
I'll never understand how someone can be so brilliant yet dense at the same time. - theragu40, on 03/06/2008, -1/+10It's more just that it's exciting to see Nintendo finally catching up with where they should be in online gaming. People who are Nintendo fans but also play games on PCs or other consoles have been thinking for years about how great it would be to see some Nintendo franchises online, and now we're seeing the realization of that dream...so you can't really blame people for getting excited.
- aqcarter, on 03/06/2008, -4/+13awesome! i hope this game is as sweet as the original!
- theragu40, on 03/06/2008, -2/+10Double Dash rocked.
- Failchan, on 03/06/2008, -3/+10I have nothing against the Wii but I find it amusing to read the latest Wii features. Leaderboards and online status! It's nothing new - but there's nothing wrong with it.
- zmanvii, on 03/06/2008, -1/+8Don't forget the ability to either poop out a banana peel or launch it forward. OW WOW WOW WOW!
- Ellipsys, on 03/06/2008, -0/+7Perhaps it can be a downloaded channel for Brawl users?
- dualscreenman, on 03/06/2008, -0/+6Well, if they didn't "add something" you'd probably ridicule them. I guess improvements are bad?
- theragu40, on 03/06/2008, -0/+6So let me get this straight. You called red shells "red *****" (see above in first comment replies), and banana peels "dicks"? Why? It isn't funny, so there has to be some ulterior motive here.
- Claude1971, on 03/06/2008, -2/+7from the tool who can't find one at the store
- jetsetter883, on 03/06/2008, -0/+5huh? it comes out in April/May...

These should do the trick and for $13 total, but I am not sure how it would work with the dual-DVI input the larger Apple Cinema displays have. - NTolerance, on 03/06/2008, -0/+5Going through the single player game in co-op was fantastic. It's too bad that everyone bitched about the dual player per kart concept and now there's no more co-op.
- mjworthey, on 03/06/2008, -0/+4Xbox adds something that was standard on PCs 10 years ago and everyone gets excited.
- calibration, on 03/06/2008, -2/+6Umm, Brawl has matchmaking with random people.
- atruskot, on 03/06/2008, -0/+4I'm going to guess that the resolution your monitor runs at is 2500x1600 (I believe thats the correct ratio)... thats waaayyyy higher than HD, btw.
if the resolution is any less than that, I have no idea why you paid that much for the monitor. - cawpin, on 03/06/2008, -1/+5You must have been the one everybody beat on. 64 was, and is, a very fine game.
- marix, on 03/06/2008, -6/+10Mario Kart 64 was a buggy piece of ***** compared to Super. Super required true skills in deathmatch mode. 64 was luck based on who got the most red shells the fastest.
- mattyice11, on 03/06/2008, -1/+5He's talking about skill based matchmaking where you always play people on the same level as you.
- skywake, on 03/06/2008, -2/+5They are being a bit vague on if they like it or not. One second they praise the way it has simplified and taken the game back to its roots in the same way MKDS did. In the next sentence they are complaining that its TOO simple and complain that the way that they have made it accessible to new players might annoy hardcore players.
For the record they never said the controls with the remote were weird. They just said it had a bit of a learning curve and its a control method that some people will love and some people wont. Whatever the case its just one of four control options. They are being really harsh about the graphics and I can understand that but from what I have seen personally I don't give a ***** if they like it or not, its good enough. It does look a bit slow but I remember thinking the same thing the first time I picked up MKDS and MKDS (IMO) is the ultimate version of Mario Kart if you forget about snaking which they have removed for MKWii. What's not to love? - Klisk, on 03/06/2008, -2/+5Yeah, but still... No match making in brawl is disappointing. I don't have friends, let along enough friends with a wii. Having to organize your own online play instead of playing at random is kind've a let down.
- billski, on 03/07/2008, -0/+3why are you even reading this article?
dumbass - inactive, on 03/06/2008, -2/+4You could buy the component cables for the wii, and try and look for a Component to DVI cable to adapt it.
I'm not sure how it would turn out though.. - SpookyApplePie, on 03/06/2008, -1/+3YAY!!!!!!!!!
- CaptianCharisma, on 03/06/2008, -4/+6I traded Excite truck in for SSBB because when this game comes it will be the only racing game I need, I can't wait for this game and to see how this channel works, they definitely needed to do this with SSBB
- Shaflugi, on 03/06/2008, -2/+4You don't have friends? Ouch.
- BearinG, on 03/13/2008, -0/+2Not with a Wii
- billski, on 03/07/2008, -0/+2Nintendo FTW!!!
- WardC, on 03/06/2008, -4/+6This is a general question about the Wii...I don't own a Wii, a PS3, a PS2, or any modern game system (I own an old NES and sn SNES). I recently just purchased a 30" Apple Cinema display, which is giant, gorgeous and great...but the only hookup is via dual-link DVI. I paid a hefty penny ($1799 + tax) came out over $2k for the display...just wondering if there is any way to hook up and use this display with a game system, such as the Wii. I don't want to have to buy another HDTV display or such to use just for gaming. Thanks. (btw I don't own an HDTV)
- SHv2, on 03/06/2008, -4/+6Wake me when they release it. Until then, Mario Kart 64 on my Wii is where I shall be.
- jetsetter883, on 03/06/2008, -0/+1this game looks gorgeous
- ChrisGilmore, on 03/06/2008, -1/+2Like the sound of it, the whole experience is ruined by the Friend Code system though.
- BearinG, on 03/13/2008, -0/+1But its a computer screen.. not a 30" HDTV.. Sure its from Apple which will be more expensive but big computer screens are always alot more expensive than HDTVs..
Think "1600p".. - SniperSlap, on 03/12/2008, -0/+1Seems kind of sucked out that they don't offer real online play.
Nintendo Wi-Fi is a hoax. - WardC, on 03/07/2008, -0/+1The resolution on the display is 2560x1600 (dual-link DVI). When hooked to a regular DVI video card (one that does not support dual link), the resolution is basically cut in half to 1280x800, and at this resolution on the 30", it's grainy, pixellated, and looks horrible. I also own a 23" Cinema HD display that does 1920x1200 native, and is regular DVI. This display will probably be the best one to use with the Wii. 1920x1200 is just over HD resolution, and is the highest resolution supported by regular (single-link) DVI. 1080i and 1080p HD is 1920x1080 resolution. The reason HD resolution is different than the WUXGA 1920x1200 is because HD displays are designed at 16:10 aspect ratio while the widescreen computer displays are generally 16:9
- inactive, on 03/06/2008, -0/+1Good joke! Very funny! Would laugh at again!!
