- chard, on 06/03/2009, -6/+127Great another game that will only prove how lonely I am :(
- jtbndy, on 06/03/2009, -1/+82You're still expecting online play from Nintendo?
- badtiki, on 06/03/2009, -3/+82Nintendo FINALLY listens to its audience! How many of us have been screaming for a return to mario as a platformer! Other than the DS iteration, there has been no love for mario in 2D
I hope this is a huge success and a prompt for nintendo to start pushing out other favs back in their oringal form, like Metroid or a return to Kid Icarus !!! us oldtimers rejoice, 2D is back baby!!!!!!!!!!!! - Rhonwyn, on 06/03/2009, -0/+75I really want the job of naming new Nintendo games.
"Hey Bob, what should we call the new Super Mario Brothers game for the Wii?"
"Uhh, New Super Mario Brothers for Wii?"
"Brilliant!" - MargotCross, on 06/03/2009, -15/+78super mario bros has always been my favorite!
- meruru, on 06/03/2009, -2/+58Nintendo hates the friendless
- NathanielJ, on 06/03/2009, -0/+33Don't forget the camera.
That evil ***** camera. - the8thbit, on 06/03/2009, -4/+37Because it had iffy controls, bad graphics, and less gameplay value than newer Mario games?
I'm not saying SM64 was bad, I'm just saying you're a nostalgic ***** if you really think Super Mario Galaxy isn't at least close to as good as SM64. - bigpixl, on 06/03/2009, -1/+31Videos and screenshots:
http://e3.nintendo.com/ - chingy1788, on 06/03/2009, -0/+28Now announce a sidescrolling metroid game
then I'd be engulfed with tears of joy - KenSPT, on 06/03/2009, -3/+27My Wii gets ignored far too much. I seriously barely play it anymore, which is a shame, because when it was first released you had to pry me away from it. However, as a guy who grew up with Mario, I'd definitely buy and play this ...
- inkubusfan, on 06/03/2009, -0/+22did anybody else notice how bad these guys sucked at a mario game?
i mean, blue toad literally avoided a green 1up mushroom.
it was painful to watch.
still excited for the game tho. - s0nicfreak, on 06/03/2009, -1/+22They did... see Super Mario 64 DS.
- inactive, on 06/03/2009, -2/+21Hmm... Another 2D Mario + Yoshi + iceball suit (which I've been saying they needed for years) + simultaneous multiplayer = instant win in my books. 'Course, I'm a Mario-playin' fool, and even though I beat the original when I was like in third grade, I still play it on a regular basis.
- NathanielJ, on 06/03/2009, -1/+20...except for Super Mario Galaxy 2 and the new Metroid game, yes.
- inactive, on 06/03/2009, -2/+20Quite sad? This is why I ***** own a Wii. Outside of staples like Mario, Zelda, Metroid, etc., I don't really give much of a ***** about console gaming, as pretty much everything else can be played on a PC, and it's a much better experience.
- SketchaMPM, on 06/03/2009, -1/+17One of the dumbest things I've read on Digg in the past week. Damn.
- alphavision, on 06/03/2009, -0/+15Love the idea of co-op SMB and Mega Man 2.5D!
- inactive, on 06/03/2009, -0/+14Mario Galaxy was the best platformer to come on any current gen consoles.
Yes, we need a sequel. - inactive, on 06/03/2009, -0/+13Blue Toad just isn't a cannibal. What's your problem?
- LocalDocal, on 06/03/2009, -2/+14Level design-wise, SMG definitely beats out SM64. It also had superior boss fights.
I've never once had an issue with SM64's controls, though, so I'm not sure what you're referring to here. On the other hand, the number of times I've had an issue with SMG's controls due to the gameplay style (changing gravity and small planets you can travel all around) is endless.
Personally, I thought SM64 was a much better game than Sunshine, but Galaxy seems to be on par with it. Call if nostalgia, if you want, but that's the way I feel. - ricker2005, on 06/03/2009, -0/+12So wait...you won't play Super Mario Galaxy because it's not a new IP. It's a fun game. That's really all that should matter.
- gglynn07, on 06/03/2009, -1/+13Hopefully they don't pull some bs by having everyone to own a DS to play the multiplayer...Although I won't put it past Nintendo to do just that. Hopefully noone from Nintendo comes on Digg, b/c I may have just ruined it for everyone.
- SeanyMac, on 06/03/2009, -0/+11Don't forget Super Paper Mario... that game was pretty killer.
- TheKingInYellow, on 06/03/2009, -0/+11uncle ernie?
- suldar, on 06/03/2009, -2/+12That looks awesome at the link below.
http://e3.nintendo.com/
Side scrolling Mario like the older ones but with improved graphics and the trees and clouds are totally different. I am all over this. I was never able to really get into the newer 3D Mario's for some reason. It looks like you can play multiple players at once too. This is gonna be so much fun for my daughter and I to play. - honeymustardn, on 06/03/2009, -1/+10You're posting on Digg.
- the8thbit, on 06/03/2009, -0/+9I remember those days. That was awesome.
- kinseyincanada, on 06/03/2009, -0/+9This is exactly what i wanted from nintendo, please dont make it really short and easy like the DS version.
- konartis, on 06/03/2009, -3/+121. Actors.
2. Pre-rended footage.
3. Microsoft bought the company, liked the deceptive tactics it employed and asked if it had any real technology. Not. Gates made it clear that this was to be a long and fruitful relationship. The kind of fruit that you can't eat. Plastic stuff, but people pay money for it. Heck, it looks good in the loungeroom- Goes with the plant. Hmm... Green Xbox.
/s - geodebug, on 06/03/2009, -0/+9Multiplayer is cool. Will be fun playing with the kids.
- ErrorF002, on 06/03/2009, -1/+10pwned by improper spelling of pwned and Natal all in one sentence.
- Arkanok, on 06/03/2009, -9/+17Seriously Nintendo please, PLEASE make something new, something original, and something fresh. No, I'm not talking hardware, I'm talking software! Yes, you innovated hardware by bringing the motion sensing to the table (which is cool in a way) but you fail to bring innovation to the software side of things.
I sold my Wii because I was so bored with it. The games were terrible (except for a few, which were just old games re-done) and it lost its appeal very quickly.
So, nintendo, until you decide to create NEW IPs with new characters and worlds, I'll never touch another nintendo console. - kylere, on 06/03/2009, -3/+11It is about gameplay not graphics. You make the mistake of all the crappy game companies.
- LostOverThere, on 06/03/2009, -20/+27Huzzah! Though, the lack of online play leaves me a little disappointed. :<
- YourMomsAnAnon, on 06/03/2009, -0/+7"Well that's a 'fresher'."
- daize, on 06/03/2009, -0/+7"I'm going on break!"
- Greengoo, on 06/03/2009, -0/+7Seems to be working for me...
- phpirate, on 06/03/2009, -0/+7He's the greatest video game character of all time. Why wouldn't they use him?
- JRW5061, on 06/03/2009, -0/+6you suck.
- coasterswim, on 06/03/2009, -3/+9Mario Kart Wii's online play is virtually flawless.
- DaFunk, on 06/03/2009, -5/+11That reminds you of Little Big Planet? Besides it being a multiplayer side-scroller, how so? It reminds me of just about every other 2D Mario side-scroller up to this point, except you can add in other players (which does not equate to Little Big Planet). Not trying to be overly snide, just really wondering how you're reminded of Little Big Planet by this .
- phpirate, on 06/03/2009, -4/+10Nintendo is not the one who had cameras which you wave your hands in front of and make gestures, and isn't coming up with more motion controllers. You better double check whos doing the gimmicks.
If you get a nintendo console you usually get it for the mario games, and they announced two of them. I'd consider that pretty successful. - pmkenny1234, on 06/03/2009, -1/+6I don't give a crap if it can be run on a handheld. Is it fun? Yes? Then I'll play it. I'm currently playing through Chrono Trigger and loving it. Let's just say that the polygon count on that game is a bit....low.
- MikeMania, on 06/03/2009, -1/+6This better run 60fps at the very least
- Bozmanbeyond, on 06/03/2009, -3/+8With all the hype of a big announcement I was rather disappointed. I thought they would announce a totally new Mario not fine tuned remakes. And what? No Zelda.
- NathanielJ, on 06/03/2009, -2/+7You didn't read the part of his comment where he said "sidescrolling", I take it.
- inactive, on 06/03/2009, -0/+5Let them eat Cake!
Signed Princess Toadstool, Peach - whiledo, on 06/03/2009, -1/+6As a married guy in his 30s who owns a house, I can tell you my time for gaming is a lot less than it used to be. I just have way more stuff to do socially and in home improvements than I used to. I can only imagine what it will be like when we start forming babbies. For me, the Wii is actually just fine as a Nintendo Sequel Player. I do understand the confusion from people who play games quite a bit more, though.
Owning it rather than renting it means you can play through the games at your own pace rather than having to cram them into a certain specific period of time.
I do look upon things like the new multiplayer SMB game with envy, though. Wish it existed in a time in my life when i could regularly get enough people together to play such a thing. - mikemehak, on 06/03/2009, -0/+5If you disprove, don't buy it.
I guarantee it will sell more copies than anything else coming out at the same time. -
