When is Destructoid ever professional? - Craga89, on 10/11/2007, -3/+34All the metroid games are freaking awesome. Nintendo are really pulling some great games out their asses lately.
- Rocketman1882, on 10/11/2007, -3/+20Let's hope the developers were smart enough to include sensitivity changes.
- muka3d, on 10/11/2007, -2/+19They did indeed include sensitivity options. It's been confirmed by one of the speakers in the E3 conference.
Plus, the Wii itself has global sensitivity options. - Shorties, on 10/11/2007, -0/+15FYI: August is the most common birth month because it is situated 9 months after December (The time when most people snuggle up).
- charlescheese, on 10/11/2007, -3/+15Destructoid games digg. That's all there is to it.
- j3rm1981, on 10/11/2007, -5/+16Interesting - the amount of difference between one E3 review and another. I'm reading things that range from "mostly good but the turn controls feel slow" to "perfect".
Can't wait to see for myself how this one pans out. - theNthDoctor, on 10/11/2007, -3/+14First-person shooters using the two-stick controller have always been totally impossible to play, when you're coming from a mouse-and-keyboard world. But the Wii controllers look like they could way surpass the playability of PC FPSs... oh, and yay Metroid!
- gregulate, on 10/11/2007, -0/+10I just reserved corruption earlier today. The EB Games employees tried to convince me it was going to be awful, and that I should instead reserve a better game like Madden for the 360......sigh.
- soccerman90, on 10/11/2007, -1/+11there are 3 different settings for the controlls. So if the bounding box is too big, you can make it smaller, and you will turn quicker
- Megaten, on 10/11/2007, -2/+11Erhm...because it's an adventure game that just so happens to use a First Person perspective, and not a shooter? If you want to play Metroid in that manner, go pick up Hunters.
- pickypg, on 10/11/2007, -7/+15It's a video game. Freak.
- xerus, on 10/11/2007, -0/+8I also have a birthday. Only once a year though.
- MCHampster, on 10/11/2007, -0/+7Why do people continue to reply to people using the @ notation? Just hit "Reply" in the "Reply to this comment" and you can reply directly to that person.
- Shizcake1337, on 10/11/2007, -7/+14All these people complaining about MP3 having no online MP. It was announced about a year ago. Besides metroid games were meant for a great singleplayer game. The multiplayer on Hunters was great but the SP mode was mediocre at best. People who want MP3 online MP so bad just want to turn use the game as "Nintendos Halo." Metroid = Singleplayer Halo = Multiplayer, they both do their jobs, don't make metroid something it wasn't meant to be.
"Wanting Metroid Prime 3 to have online multiplayer is like biting into an apple expecting to taste an orange." - rubenz, on 10/11/2007, -0/+6Fun will make or break a game.
- FoxMcCloud, on 10/11/2007, -0/+6I'm gonna be honest here... I am all for the Wii control scheme but I hope it has more of a story. I am getting a little tired of collecting artifacts when I want to be Samus and blow some pirates out of the sky. I don't want a Halo game; I just crave an ass kicking Samus game to top all first person shooters.
- stormgren, on 10/11/2007, -3/+9Until graphics are absolutely photo-perfect, what's the point? The graphics are... decent, and the point of games is to have fun, right? That doesn't always involve amazing graphics, does it?
- Naruto28, on 10/11/2007, -4/+10Why does every game nowadays HAVE to have online gameplay? Some games just work better as a single player experience - adding multiplayer would only diminish what makes them great games.
- xerus, on 10/11/2007, -1/+7Cruise control for awesome.
- loseroid, on 10/11/2007, -0/+6anyone else tired of Destructoid cheating the system and cheapening our experience on here? We need to all get together and contact Digg about their complete disregard for everyone else. This cheating has to stop. Please contact Digg and report them. Also stop digging their articles up even higher after they cheat their way into the hot section and front page. This is digg.com, not destructoid.com. Their articles are lame anyway...usually written well after someone else and often not even correct.
- opnickc, on 10/11/2007, -0/+5"ANY FPS IS FUN ONLINE"
So buy the 32-player online Medal of Honor for Wii this fall.
Though I will agree with you to a point. Even a very vanilla online mode would've been nice, just for the added value. You can only play the same single player experience so many times (except for RE4 it seems, that never gets old somehow). Having an online multiplayer mode would mean I could pull it out and play it here and there long after I beat it.
Of course, what I'd really like is a nice, full-featured online FPS for the Wii. We know the system's controls can be great for the genre, and the quake-style run and gun gameplay rarely gets old. Seriously, I know Epic hates the Wii and all, but just a port of UT2004 with good controls and some extra content (maybe a map editor?) would be fantastic. - soccerman90, on 10/11/2007, -3/+8yes their are sensitivity changes
- epyon180, on 10/11/2007, -0/+5http://www.gamespot.com/pages/image_viewer/frame_lead.php?pid=928517&img=1&sid=undefined
A better gallery with less load time. - Coffeedemon, on 10/11/2007, -0/+5If its as good (game quality-wise)as the first Prime I'm there and will buy a Wii when they release it... but that doesn't look much different/better than the gamecube ones.
- Shizcake1337, on 10/11/2007, -0/+5You should pick up fusion, zero mission was a remake, but fusion was actually very surprisingly good for a completely new Metroid sidescroller
- SkippyDoorknob, on 10/11/2007, -2/+6The global sensitivity option is only for how sensitive it is to the sensor bar (to ignore stray IR, etc). It does not affect how the pointer moves.
- OHiggins, on 10/11/2007, -2/+6Metroid Prime was never meant as a multiplayer game anyway. The multiplayer Echoes was horrible while the focus was on the story.
- ihascheezburger, on 10/11/2007, -0/+4YOURE JOKING RIGHT CAPTAIN?
- fantasticFlan, on 10/11/2007, -1/+5Watch the videos (http://www.gametrailers.com/game/1979.html ), it's a great improvement on 1 and 2.
- sibhod, on 10/11/2007, -0/+4Considering I play VC/XBLA games way more than this-gen games, I can easily say that graphics do not make the game.
- Renton, on 10/11/2007, -0/+4Until everyone started hacking it.
- inactive, on 10/11/2007, -2/+6This destructoid crap is really getting out of hand. They got FIVE articles on frontpage as of this writing, and NINE in upcoming right now with 20+ diggs. Nobody sees this? Why isn't anyone writing to abuse@digg.com about destructoid's cheating of digg? Please people, the only way to stop them is if we make our voices heard. I wouldn't care if it's one digg, but they are taking complete advantage, and during E3 too to get higher hits which will make them more with their ad revenue. Please let's all put a stop to this and write to abuse@digg.com!
- gcnaddict, on 10/11/2007, -2/+6Online gameplay on the DS for Hunters kicked ass dude. Why would wii online be any worse?
- piratearggghhh, on 10/11/2007, -0/+3That was good. Full of wit. The length and cussing take away from it though.
- Shorties, on 10/11/2007, -2/+5OH great now we get into console bashing. Listen the Xbox is an excellent System with Excellent games, and excellent online play, The Wii is an excellent system with some amazing games no reason to bash.
- gameboi, on 10/11/2007, -0/+3It amazes me that alongside Destructoid, Joystiq and Kotaku are usually found too -- yet I don't see all the negativity in the comments for them. What gives? Destructoid works hard to provide coverage of what's going on in the gaming world, and people reward us for that. To our fans, Thank You! For everyone else, don't rush to judgment and come check us out. You are missing out on a lot of fun and a close-knit community. We don't bite.
- inactive, on 10/11/2007, -0/+3Sorry, but that's all you're getting. Better than nothing, I'd say.
- Coffeedemon, on 10/11/2007, -0/+3No reason you can't add some deathmatch to a game with a first/third person perspective ... even if the game "doesn't need it". Its just some added value after you've finished the SP game to run around in some maps and shoot other people who are using skins based on characters from the game... it doesn't have to be a part of the story - just some added value since online "everything" is so damn ubiquitous.
I would like them to spend 90% of the time on the single player and then add some deathmatch on. Its there if you want it and if you don't it has nothing to do with the story anyway.
Everyone saying it doesn't work online seriously sounds like they're rationalizing Nintendo not embracing the century we live in. Tacking deathmatch or any online mode to a side-scroller might meet your apple/orange analogy ... in the case of Prime in 2000 & ***** 7 it sounds more like excuses. - blobzorz, on 10/11/2007, -2/+5Those pics are too small, looks like mP1/2
- ChineseRoom, on 10/11/2007, -0/+3But that's the thing, "Haze" didnt invent it so retro isnt stealing anything.
- Lasereth, on 10/11/2007, -2/+4Uhh...what games?
- Magee1205, on 10/11/2007, -5/+7I wish they'd go back and make a side scrolling Metroid. Maybe they can add one to their virtual console or something. I'm sure Metroid Prime will be a great game...it's just that I want an old school style Metroid.
- sibhod, on 10/11/2007, -0/+2I would prefer it if game developers would actually focus on making a good single player and multiplayer separately. Usually one or the other feels tacked on. Although I love multiplayer and would like them to include it, Metroid has always been a single player game, so I'm glad they're focusing on that instead of halfassing either.
- stormgren, on 10/11/2007, -1/+3Despite what you may have heard, CAPSLOCK is not, in fact, cruise control for cool.
This has been a public service announcement. - R3Dirkulous, on 10/11/2007, -0/+2They dont use the friend code for every game, its a game by game basis.
- Syric, on 10/11/2007, -0/+2Do you live under a rock?
- Zarxrax, on 10/11/2007, -1/+3Did you miss the ones on the GBA?
- ihascheezburger, on 10/11/2007, -1/+3Just the fact that Nintendo uses the friend code system proves that online gameplay on the Wii isn't that good...They already have a parental control feature; shouldn't we be able to disable friend codes?
- Coffeedemon, on 10/11/2007, -0/+2You never know. It could be like Half-Life 2. Play one of the best single player experiences available at the time for several hours... and then go online and kill a guy with a toilet.
