- mediaphile, on 05/29/2009, -3/+153"Trailer" should read "Concept Video"
- z00k, on 05/29/2009, -2/+129Sadly like all the other games this one will most likely be canceled due to legal problems... It looks fantastic though.
- schroeder, on 05/30/2009, -0/+86Now THAT's a ***** Megaman game with some real team play. Why don't they make games like this anymore?
- FrozenPie, on 05/29/2009, -0/+61want!
- dvdking, on 05/30/2009, -0/+49Suggested new title for the game "Mega Man Forever"
- imodium, on 05/29/2009, -2/+51The author said that this is just an animation that he created using a software called Autodesk Maya. It would be great to have it as a real game.
- jeremymccurdy, on 05/30/2009, -0/+43Come on Capcom, buy his work and make it into a full fledged game! I would buy it twice!
- twiztidsinz, on 05/30/2009, -1/+39Because it's easier to turn out the same things rather than be innovative.
- DelMonte, on 05/30/2009, -1/+28Reminds me of Metroid Cubed, which is a 2.5d/3d remake of the original NES Metroid.

Unlike this demo, Metroid Cubed is a 99% complete playable remake of the original game, reconstructed by sculpting the original graphics on voxel volumes (3d pixel grids) while this Megaman demo uses flat textures on boxes and flat sprites. - Nicoon, on 05/30/2009, -1/+21Expect a Cease & Desist letter.
- Alpha17x, on 05/30/2009, -1/+20This might not get cancelled. Capcom is actually usually pretty support of fan projects regardless of what they are so long as the creators. 1. Don't slander capcom, 2. Don't make money off of it, 3. Don't have racist or hateful stuff in it. I was working on a 3d megaman X way back in the day that fell apart, we asked for permission to do it ahead of time. They responded with pretty much those 3 key points. Usually the best way to handle fan projects like that is to keep the main company up to date on it, It's surprising how lenient I lot of developers are.
- RandomGorilla, on 05/30/2009, -2/+13Because you touch yourself at night... and on the bus... and at work...
- paradigmxx, on 05/30/2009, -1/+12Totally awesome.
- powerphail, on 05/30/2009, -0/+8This looks awesome, I hope it actually gets released -- if it doesn't I might just cry.
- geoboy, on 05/30/2009, -0/+8Co-op games make having a little brother totally worth it.
- PorcusWallabee, on 05/30/2009, -3/+11***** the RIAA and antiquated copyright laws.
Long live the copyleft! - twiztidsinz, on 05/30/2009, -1/+8Agreed.
- inactive, on 05/30/2009, -0/+7But if what you said was true, then they would release this Megaman game.
- zeebo, on 05/30/2009, -1/+7I don't know, to me it just looks like they made it 3d for the hell of it, and then didn't change anything to take advantage of that. If anything, it looks like they just made the game more awkward to play.
- Squipo, on 05/30/2009, -0/+6I think it's just a tech demo. I'm sure it will never be realized unless someone runs with the idea, because the creator probably has the good sense not to even try.
- chad78, on 05/31/2009, -0/+6The RIAA has *NOTHING* to do with this. This is a video game, not a song. And while the video couldbe called a "movie" Mega Man is not - so it's not **** the MPAA, either. If anything, it would be F the ESA, (the Entertainment Software Association - http://www.theesa.com/ ) - but more accurately, F Capcom - if they chose to squash it.
- DeadPlasmaCell, on 05/30/2009, -0/+6Sadly it looks like it's just some guys work
- inactive, on 05/30/2009, -0/+5It isn't being released. It isn't being developed. It's just an animation. Unless someone else goes about developing it, it will never be made because the author of this animation isn't a programmer.
- durruticolumn, on 09/18/2009, -0/+5
What a brilliant concept for a game. Someone needs to do a Castlevania like this. - DemiRonin, on 05/30/2009, -0/+4Mega man is too hard :(
- Vodd9, on 05/30/2009, -1/+5And hire the guy.
- jgtg32a, on 05/30/2009, -0/+4Reminds me a bit of VirtualBoy for some reason
- Mihey, on 05/30/2009, -0/+4Um.
It is just a concept video. They can't shut down what doesn't exist. - fuzzynyanko, on 05/30/2009, -0/+4CAPCOM is actually one of the better companies with regards to letting others use their IP. I could actually see this being let go
- aaronoog, on 05/30/2009, -0/+3Tucking fits.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QUEO9Mfmn4M - Miknarf, on 05/30/2009, -0/+3mega man game with team play......when did they ever make games like that?
- DelMonte, on 05/30/2009, -0/+3You're right, Metroid Cubed doesn't add anything gameplay-wise, and this was not the original goal. It was more of an experiment about transforming 2d NES graphics into 3d objects using volumetric rendering.
When I was playing 2d NES games when I was younger, I had somewhere in my mind a 3d vision of how these graphics would look in 3d. Metroid Cubed is a realization of that. Some people find the concept in itself interesting, some don't.
This 90 degrees point of view rotation thing is not a new idea, there's a whole game designed around this concept (I forgot the name), while at the time it was released, Metroid Cubed was a novel idea (The voxelized Super Mario wallpapers came a few years after).
As for changing things to take advantage of that, real voxel rendering is extremely cpu intensive (voxel terrains are not really voxels) and at the time it was unthinkable to render the whole level and enemies in real time on an average PC using Shockwave, so that's why it's pre-rendered.
There is though an unfinished demo of Metroid Cubed where you can rotate the view and seemlessly transition from the original 2d NES look to the 3d voxel view:

Anyway, ideally, combining the gameplay of the Megaman 2.5d demo with the voxel rendering of Metroid Cubed would be nice. - inactive, on 05/30/2009, -2/+5***** *****.
- raydeen, on 05/30/2009, -0/+3And my head asplodes. The only thing that could possibly top this would be the original NES Ninja Gaiden games redone in 2.5.
- twiztidsinz, on 05/30/2009, -2/+4Seems that 'some guy in his basement' can put out better work than these gaming companies (see all the C&D'd Chrono Trigger stuff) can so they see it as a threat.
I would have gladly paid for Chrono Resurrection and Crimson Echoes. - inactive, on 05/30/2009, -1/+3Animation != actual playable game.
- Pxtl, on 06/01/2009, -0/+2This. I had have brothers. I feel like I had a completely different childhood from other kids who talked about classic NES games that were single-player. There were single-player games? And people played them? Seriously? Megaman 2 was one of our few exceptions to that rule.
- inactive, on 05/30/2009, -1/+3Concept Video != Man-years of animation, modelling, texture creation, music composition, level development, story writing, game engine design, testing, etc.
- robEstyles, on 05/30/2009, -1/+3I thought that was why the dinosaurs died out?
- Manberries, on 06/01/2009, -0/+2You got the joke. Congratulations.
- falser, on 05/30/2009, -1/+3Why Megaman 3? Megaman 2 was better, and the music was far superior. But then again it's been a while since I played MM3. Damnit now I'm gonna have to fire up the nes emulator. I'll be gone all afternoon, cya.
- Javindo, on 05/30/2009, -0/+2I want this game.
- Pxtl, on 06/01/2009, -0/+2Seriously. Little Big Planet should have set off alarm bells to game company sitting on an old platformer that it was time to break out the old 2.5D, and that we want co-op.
- onegoodsoul, on 05/30/2009, -0/+2CAPCOM will snuff this out rather quickly...
- sperin4, on 05/30/2009, -0/+2I want this so bad.
- woulok, on 05/30/2009, -0/+2gimme gimme
- scotchw, on 06/02/2009, -0/+2What message, that people like Zelda/Chrono Trigger?
- scotchw, on 06/02/2009, -0/+1play
- Arcanis, on 05/30/2009, -0/+1Only if Megaman was from Square.
