- Mudger, on 02/21/2008, -16/+101Wow the graphics are terrible.
- turboblake, on 02/21/2008, -12/+96This is probably because the game is still in development, but most of these shots look like amped up N64 graphics.
- The0, on 02/21/2008, -0/+60I would probably agree with you if I hadn't just played Mario Kart 64 not 5 minutes ago and been surprised as to how ***** it looked compared to memory.
But yes, they do look bad, and yes, its probably because they're still unpolished due to development. - turpenine, on 02/21/2008, -3/+29this is in the gaming section.
MORAN. - TheG2, on 02/21/2008, -0/+26I'm guessing this is because the games are still in development, we know the Wii can produce graphics much better than that (Resident Evil 4, Mario Galaxy, Zelda).
- Premonition, on 02/21/2008, -0/+22***** PENGUIN!
- slamm71, on 02/21/2008, -0/+22Graphics always look much worse in screenshots than they do in vids (or the real game). Even so, couldn't they have at least made the wheels on those bulldozers round? (2nd pic).
I don't think anything will stop me from buying this game though. - doshindude, on 02/21/2008, -3/+2310th place. 10TH PLACE. Epic.
And did I see Sherbet Land, Moo Moo Farm and Mario Raceway in those screenshots? Nice, N64 Track Remakes!!!!! - LettuceJoans, on 02/21/2008, -1/+19OMG this means I can race WEEGEE and my Hitler Mii! yeeeeeeesss!
- tidu, on 02/21/2008, -2/+19no, Wario Stadium, with the gap you can knock enemies into so they have to redrive 10 miles of track
- undy242, on 02/21/2008, -2/+18The graphics do look mediocre; I still think it's going to be a fun game.
- skywake, on 02/21/2008, -1/+16Look at the pre-release "Metroid Prime 3" and "Super Mario Galaxy" screens. Screenshots of Wii games seem to have a habit of looking overly horrible for some reason even though in the end they can look quite decent. I don't think its a "still in development" problem because its so close to release and I am not being defensive of the game when I say that it does look better then the GC Kart and that from what I have seen (IGN has a new trailer up) it does look a lot better again when its in motion. Plus, its a Mario Kart game... when a red shell is heading towards me the last thing I think is "someone needs to tighten up the graphics on level 3".
- cvitt04, on 02/21/2008, -0/+15I hope you're right.
- brianjlowry, on 02/21/2008, -2/+17At least I'm not wasting my time browsing articles on the internet on subjects I'm not interested in. You don't see me at FurryFriendLove.com commenting on your recently posted article, do you?
- Dgen_X, on 02/21/2008, -1/+16I'm hoping it's just because this game hasn't been finished yet...........
- BuckleButt, on 02/21/2008, -2/+16World wide time trial scoreboard? Sold. http://www.blogsmithmedia.com/www.nintendowiifanbo ...
- schmiggyjk, on 02/21/2008, -0/+12Haven't we as educated gamers learned that great graphics != good game play, and vice versa?
- DigTheDoug, on 02/21/2008, -0/+11They've already confirmed that it's similar to Brawl. You can use the motion wiimote, wiimote and nunchuck or gamecube controller.
- kev92486, on 02/21/2008, -1/+12Needs more Rainbow Road.
I can't wait to see the finished product. - jcroweall7, on 02/21/2008, -1/+11SNES is still my top choice. Super Mario World, Yoshi's Island, Donkey Kong Country, Street Fighter II, Super Metroid, Kirby Superstar, Earthbound, Chrono Trigger, Super Punch-Out, the Megaman X series, Link to the Past... The original Mario Kart was also good, though I'll admit the N64 version was better. The N64 is my close second choice overall. It's definitely my top choice for multiplayer gaming when I have a bunch of buds over at my apartment.
- bjs3171, on 02/21/2008, -2/+12it's, uh, in the gaming section...
- xorkaya, on 02/21/2008, -0/+9ARRGGHH!.... It sucks when you misread a digg title and give yourself false hopes about Megatron being in Mario Kart.
- AmazingAndrex, on 02/21/2008, -0/+9Meh, Gran Turismo 4 uses 2D trees.
- bigdsinferno, on 02/21/2008, -0/+7the steering wheel does come with the game. i just want to use my wavebird though.
- kz13, on 02/21/2008, -0/+7Dugg for Moo Moo Farm and Koopa Beach. And the NES shoutout in the first pic.
But if there isn't a super trippy Rainbow Road, I am going to throw a fit. - thecrazyd, on 02/21/2008, -0/+7Nah, he was in the last Mario Kart, and a few other games.
- skywake, on 02/21/2008, -1/+8to further prove my point some comparable screens of MP3, SMG and MKWii

it isn't going to win awards for graphical achievements but its not THAT bad and its definitely not something that the 64 could do nor the GC at a decent frame rate. I don't see any reason to attack it..... - inactive, on 02/21/2008, -1/+7bullet bill "kart?" whew, times have changed.
why, before those things would charge you in hope of killing you, but now, you've teamed up! - djsim, on 02/21/2008, -0/+6He should be on a motorcycle, if I'm not mistaken.
- Amplix, on 02/21/2008, -0/+6Nerds? on Digg???
Get outta town! - Soave, on 02/21/2008, -0/+6I think he knows that, but Wario Stadium was soooo much cooler for the exact reason he just described.
- Jemulov, on 02/21/2008, -0/+6On another topic, Adolf Hitler pull in first place at rainbow road.
- Sairgem, on 02/21/2008, -0/+5Surprised nobody has come in to defend snaking yet. Snaking completely ruined Mario Kart DS online for me. Some people like the added "competitive" spirit it adds. But all it did for me was give me a sore thumb.
- Cryoniq, on 02/21/2008, -0/+5and what about Mario Galaxy, Metroid Prime, Zelda etc.. I so loved them :P
- shinjiru, on 02/21/2008, -0/+5Truth be told, EVERYONE has a HITLER WII, it's a natural thing to do :))
- t0ken, on 02/21/2008, -0/+5I be nobody has EVER implicated digg users to be nerds. You tooootally called everyone out o_O
- Cryoniq, on 02/21/2008, -0/+5Still images of a display shifting graphics tend to look very bad. But in game the GFX look good becuase the tech make your eyes blend stuff together. A very effective tech.
- TheG2, on 02/21/2008, -0/+5It's not sad, if the gamecube can put out those kind of games then later in the Dev cycle the games will be pretty damn decent looking.
- MacSuxWindozSux, on 02/21/2008, -2/+7I do.
Faster game vs. slower game.
More objects on screen vs. less objects on screen.
4 way split screen compatible levels vs. one screen.
The graphics don't need to be at the same level since you'll be blasting by everything.
The level design has to be light because sometimes the screen is split 4 ways. Games only draw what you can see. So this can make a huge impact on framerate. Even though there's same screen surface area, there can be 10 times the detail needed to be drawn. - Devo420, on 02/21/2008, -1/+6I hope MarioKart for Wii goes in the same direction as the DS version. The classic tracks and online play were a nice addition. Only one thing they have to fix - online players who abuse the "snaking" technique!
- epyon180, on 02/21/2008, -3/+8I just don't understand how a game like mario galaxy can look so good while this game looks like *****.
- trc0, on 02/21/2008, -0/+4I might have to buy a Wii for this game
- chubbybubba, on 02/21/2008, -7/+11Please God ....don't let this game contain any wiimote jerking. Nothing kills a great game worse than excessive wiimote jerking.
- funktimus, on 02/21/2008, -0/+4Why aren't they borrowing ideas from diddy kong racing? Sure everyone always wanted to fly the plane or use the hoverboat... but come on... that was fun as hell.
- MikeSD34, on 02/21/2008, -1/+5The Wii trees don't look great, but the N64 trees look like green ***** on a stick.
- SmallZee, on 02/21/2008, -8/+12why does this look like the N64 version?
- brianjlowry, on 02/21/2008, -1/+5Fail.
- tron3000, on 02/21/2008, -0/+4why are people pissed the graphics are *****. thats not what the wii was made for. the wii mote is all you need for the best gaming youve ever experienced in your life.
- lexington86, on 02/21/2008, -0/+4Hmm let me guess... you don't like the Wii? Why are you reading this then??
- Sairgem, on 02/21/2008, -0/+3"I snaked in the DS Mario Kart, but only when someone else was doing it. Everyone that didn't snake was really bad at that game anyway."
Complete *****. The people who didn't like snaking were the ones who wanted to play the game the way it was meant, the way they played it back on the snes and N64. There's nobody out there who can't snake. Snaking is one of the easiest "advanced" techniques I've ever seen in a game. If you think you're good at mario kart because you can snake, you're kidding yourself. -
