did you mean this? http://www.1up.com/do/newsStory?cId=3167633
nywho, I know people still have a thing against friend codes but personally I don't care. The effort isn't that great to get everything working and once you do get it working it works. I personally would rather have it this way then having all games locked to my Wii FC. The way it is I can not only have multiple accounts for MKWii on the one console but I can also give people varying access to online communications. I don't want some people I want to play Kart against to be able to send me messages for instance.
Sure they could have added Voice Chat between friends (I don't know why you would want it with randoms). Sure they could have made the exchange of FCs automated between connected Wiis. Maybe instead of a number they could have let you pick a name of some sort. Still, once it is all set up and done it really doesn't make any difference. I don't see why everyone is putting so much effort into complaining about a system that doesn't take more then a few seconds to set up anyway. - gamergod42, on 05/01/2008, -1/+3It's not that Nintendo doesn't GET online. Like it or not, Nintendo chose safety over simplicity, so friend codes are here to stay. Sure, friend codes are annoying, but once you enter them in, you never have to do it again. It takes all of a few seconds to enter one. And they aren't that hard to find - friend codes are all over the Internet on forums, sites like http://mapwii.com , http://nintendoworlds.com , http://sharewiis.com just to name a few, and mario kart chat rooms all over the place. Since voice chat isn't built in, many kart players are using Skype http://skype.com and XFire http://xfire.com to chat while playing kart. It works fine, but it sure would be nice if it was built into the game.
