- abajaj2280, on 11/29/2008, -6/+159I can do the same thing without tremendous effort.
just plug it into the top of the wii. - VyPR, on 11/30/2008, -4/+77That's like pissing in the floor, wiping it up with a towel, and wringing said towel out into the toilet, claiming to have engineered a way to urinate remotely; a whole lot of wasted effort for a ***** accomplishment.
- Shaymojack, on 11/30/2008, -1/+51They note how it allows you to play wirelessly - I can do that with a wavebird controller. :/
- ZenMojo, on 11/30/2008, -0/+24Then plug the wavebird into the top of the Wii.
- renski13, on 11/30/2008, -1/+25I commend you for not saying first. I have a lingering question though. Who the heck are you yelling at?
- skywake, on 11/30/2008, -1/+22To be fair, there aren't that many games worth mentioning that support the Classic Controller but not a GC controller. The only game I can think of that supports the CC and not the GC controller is Geometry Wars Galaxies. I mean, this is a cool hack but it doesn't really have much point.
Plus, you can buy Classic Controllers that are shaped like all sorts of different controllers.

This is like hacking a car so you can drive from the backseat via wireless steering wheel. - thirdman, on 11/30/2008, -0/+13The voices, I guess
- CoreyTamas, on 11/30/2008, -0/+11I'm not saying TalSiach is or isn't at wit, but... if not for you, I would never know who he was. Now that I do, it has as little impact on my Digg experience as it did before I knew.
TalSiach probably is a twerp with some scripts, but... maybe you need to let the white whale go? - inactive, on 11/30/2008, -8/+18This is stupid, I am not impressed ,this does not belong on Digg.
Just plug it in! - Garofoli, on 11/30/2008, -1/+11... Where did you get that example from?
- cyrix, on 11/30/2008, -0/+9Me... I kinda/sorta/maybe stole his fig newtons from the fridge at work a few weeks ago.
- MrColdheart, on 11/30/2008, -5/+14dugg for calling people stupid
- inactive, on 11/29/2008, -25/+34What is it with all these people nagging about what some guy accomplished with his engineering skills. Weather it is practical or not, he did something most of you could never do. Get over it!
- tomato1324, on 11/30/2008, -0/+9you can also control the menu w/ the wii remote which is included with the wii. no classic controller purchase required. and every game that supports the classic controller also supports the game cube controller. so....whats that point that we're missing?
- Nrvana423, on 11/30/2008, -0/+8*whether
- VyPR, on 11/30/2008, -0/+8It's patented. Don't even think about stealing my idea.
- NathanielJ, on 11/30/2008, -0/+8I love hardware hacks and whatnot, but this is beyond useless. How about we reminisce with some (infinitely cooler) Johnny Lee Wii hacks?
http://www.cs.cmu.edu/~johnny/projects/wii/ - MrColdheart, on 11/30/2008, -1/+9calling him a hax0r?
- tomato1324, on 11/30/2008, -0/+8not only can it be done without tremendous effort by plugging the gamecube controller into the top of the wii, it can be done wirelessly by plugging a wavebird into the top of the wii.
- Ducttape21, on 11/30/2008, -0/+7Why is your sarcasm making me laugh so hard? This doesn't usually happen.
- Ashkc88, on 11/30/2008, -0/+7The classic controller is much better for Super Nintendo games than the GameCube controller. Have you tried playing Super Mario World with the GameCube controller? It's really hard to run & jump to fly without hitting "A" to make you do a twirl jump. The classic controllers and the GameCube controllers are also better with NES/Genesis games rather than the sideways Wiimote.
That being said, the classic controller isn't the controller I'd use while playing Nintendo 64 games. It just feels awkward. - ScottyAnimal, on 11/30/2008, -0/+7Buried for redundant modification.
- Albaster, on 11/30/2008, -0/+6Sorry, but no, this isn't an accomplishment: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/WaveBird
- NathanielJ, on 11/30/2008, -0/+6"He's now the only one who gets to use wireless GC controllers with Nintendo Wii."
Gee, that's strange, since I've been using a wireless GC controller with my Wii for a year now... - BirdCatcher, on 11/30/2008, -0/+6wavebird for the win
- uglymike, on 11/30/2008, -0/+5What a waste of time
- Sornos, on 11/30/2008, -1/+6TalSiach diggs ~182 stories a day. Which compared to most Diggers that get material to the front page, it's not the highest I've seen. From what I've deduced, people like this spend a few hours a day digging a few hundred stories submitted by their "friends". It is what makes this Digg World go round.
- ZincSaucier, on 11/30/2008, -0/+5yo i modified my nes emulator on my pc and now i can use my keyboard as a controller!
- inactive, on 11/30/2008, -1/+61337 h4x0r?
- robev, on 11/30/2008, -0/+5Update: As a bunch of commenters have pointed out, this can be done already by plugging the GameCube controller directly into the Wii. However, this mod lets you do it wirelessly -- err, if you don't count the big microcontroller and mess of wires.
- dhyancraig, on 11/30/2008, -0/+5I agree with most comments on here that this is pretty useless.
Especially when he is only playing Mario Kart.
Someone tell the guy that you can use the Gamecube controller or Wii Classic Controller to play Mario Kart Wii! - diggproof, on 11/30/2008, -1/+6I had to shell out 25 for a Classic Controller to be able to pause Super Metroid. There were plenty of buttons available on the GC controller, they forced me to buy it for nothing.
- Taiyoryu, on 11/30/2008, -1/+6Summary fails to mention that it hooks the GC wirelessly to the Wii which is the real mod.
- Rockkybox, on 11/30/2008, -0/+4I guess he didn't notice the little door on the top of the wii
- msqueak, on 11/30/2008, -1/+5http://www.wsu.edu/~brians/errors/weather.html
- username7410, on 11/30/2008, -8/+12***** AMAZING!!!
- brian124, on 11/30/2008, -0/+4dugg for pure ridiculousness.
- JordanM85, on 11/30/2008, -1/+5If you are going to download a game, just hack that controller for the computer. The VC prices are ridiculous.
- DatoeDakari, on 11/30/2008, -0/+3When I got my Wii, this was the first thing I bought.
- smoger, on 11/30/2008, -0/+3that's not true, as the GC controller is compatible with all SNES VC games.
in fact, it's compatible with ALL virtual console games. - ZincSaucier, on 11/30/2008, -0/+3just because it was hard to do doesn't make it a great achievement. it saves no time energy or money, and leaves you with an ugly mess of wires
- smoger, on 11/30/2008, -0/+3but those games dont support classic controllers.
it's a catch 22 because 99% of games that support CC also support GC. so really,.. as everyone pointed out.. pretty pointless. - doshindude, on 11/30/2008, -0/+3Ahh...I love the Onion...
Wait, some guy actually thought the Wii wasn't compatible with GC controllers??? - Nicoon, on 11/30/2008, -0/+3So this tremendous effort, does it involve popping open the hatch, unveiling the gamecube controller ports and plugging it in?
- tendonut, on 12/01/2008, -0/+3Oh yeah? Well I have FOUR wireless gamecube controllers for my Wii. And I've had them since 2003 (I think).
He actually wasted more money cracking open a Wii remote ($40) plus a regular GameCube controller ($25) then it would cost to just grab a few wavebirds from like Amazon ($35) - lolwutpear, on 11/30/2008, -0/+3dugg for beating me to it
- hydriplex, on 11/30/2008, -0/+3The Classic Controller does allow you to move the cursor with the joystick.
