- cbrunet, on 10/19/2008, -2/+230I met Reggie Fils-Aime a few years back, and my only words for him was that I wanted him to take my money. He looked at me confused, and I explained that I wanted Nintendo to just take my money, and all I ask for in return is a localized version of Mother 3. He laughed and said "That's what I keep hearing", but I guess what he really meant was "I don't care". So screw you Nintendo, and thank you translators!

- oboyojinsaka, on 10/19/2008, -2/+84Most fan translated games have various issues and bugs that make it obvious that it was done by 'just a fan', but this patch is amazing. They took their time and did a very good job!
- OddMoniker, on 10/19/2008, -4/+85One of my favorite games of all time, and perhaps my absolute favorite RPG EVER.
- ileftfark, on 10/19/2008, -1/+59This so awesome it's free. Otherwise, I'd have to call my dad to put money in my bank account and make a record of my progress.
- Rapturez, on 10/19/2008, -1/+52I registered just so I could digg this. Do yourself a favor -- play Earthbound first, follow it up with this, experience the best week of your life.

- laguano, on 10/19/2008, -2/+44I don't know if it was just me, but I was thinking something pretty dirty for the first paragraph.
- mattcoady, on 10/19/2008, -0/+39Ninendo should just pay these guys a fat stack of cash and just release this.
- RainDrizzleFog, on 10/19/2008, -2/+36Hey, for a games company they sure don't know their audience. Why not go grind out a few more copies of your best sellers, hey Nintendo?
- Mooneyedboy, on 10/19/2008, -4/+36I remember logging into the translation page, and suddenly feeling something wet, salty, and strangely tear-like on my cheeks. It was only to my surprise several minutes later, that I realized that they were indeed tears, and I was crying.
This is one of the most beautiful games of all time. To compare it to mother 1 or 2 is impossible; all three are beautiful, similar, and infinitely different. Perhaps what makes Mother 3 even more beautiful is the love that went into translating it, supporting those translators, creating wonderful fan-works, and sharing the love that such a soul-searching, awe-inspiring, and dare I say it, heart-rending game can inspire.
You owe it yourself to check out this game. Even if you've never heard of it, hate RPGs, or don't like the hype that some of us die-hard fans have created. Please, check it out. I can assure you, you won't be dissapointed. - horseradish2, on 10/19/2008, -0/+24Digg this to support an amazing translation and get the word out for a great game that people will definitely love!
- nochilinopity, on 10/19/2008, -0/+23Too bad Nintendo of America couldn't be bothered to do the translation for the hardcore crowd...
- dmacmattack, on 10/19/2008, -2/+23www.google.com
- clydemagikbunny, on 10/19/2008, -1/+21If you could only play one video game in your entire life, play Earthbund :P
But then cheat and play this because it's freakin' great.
Mad props to you guys for doing an AMAZING job translating. - Railoc, on 10/19/2008, -0/+18Nintendo has lost touch with their fans again, and the fact they wouldn't release Mother 3 outside of Japan optimizes that. I still love them, but I won't be buying a Nintendo system again until they make some games I like - including localizing games like Mother 3. It's not a form of feeble protest or anything - there's just very little in Nintendo's game line up that interests me today. And this is coming from someone who loved the N64.
- slothbot, on 10/19/2008, -0/+17After nearly 15 years of constant bad news and being ignored by Nintendo it's good to see the Mother fan community coming together to localize what Nintendo continually refuses to. The fan translation patch is anything but a quick-and-dirty solution and, instead, translates Mother 3 into English with all the elegance of an official localization, if not more so.
- Zachari, on 10/19/2008, -0/+16I'd love to take a "cracked bat" to whomever refuses to get the real version made.
- ihatepeterh, on 10/19/2008, -0/+15They've spent FOREVER on this, and it shows. Everybody's patience has paid off, as they've done a phenomenal job.
- mrberns, on 10/19/2008, -2/+17Who says there aren't any good new games for the Nintendo hardcore crowd?
- Hukuzo, on 10/19/2008, -1/+16One of the greatest games of all time.
- NaziHatinChimp, on 10/19/2008, -1/+15Thanks guys.
- LUElinks, on 10/19/2008, -0/+13The game starts slow, and is definitely more emotional than Earthbound.
Its a solid game though. - Room302, on 10/19/2008, -1/+14This project has been an epic collaboration that I and many other faithful supporters have been following. I'm overjoyed.
- whataSAMF, on 11/28/2008, -1/+14the music is AWESOME.
i had never heard of or played this game until this morning, and look at me, 4 hours later and im still going strong. - chrisbarr, on 10/19/2008, -0/+12How do you do that? I can only do a normal digg
- katanaswordfish, on 10/20/2008, -0/+11Give my regards to the next frog you meet.
- honeymustardn, on 10/19/2008, -2/+12http://gba-rom-news.org/rom_2376.html
- UNL1M1T3D, on 10/20/2008, -0/+10See Nintendo this is what happens, you drop the ball and now they are playing your game on a competing system.
- ihatepeterh, on 10/19/2008, -0/+10You can dump the patched rom onto a cartridge, yes. You can't dump the patched rom onto the actual cartridge, though, if that's what you meant. But a flash cart, yes yes.
- Dundasbro, on 10/19/2008, -0/+10You thrust with your pelvis while at the same time as digging.
- Davers, on 10/19/2008, -0/+10So if this patches the original ROM, one could theoretically dump the patched ROM back onto a cartridge and play it on the console as it's meant to be played?
- Lorddias, on 10/19/2008, -0/+10Welcome to the RPG world. See you in 56 more hours.
- Lungkisser, on 10/19/2008, -6/+16Wow, Mooneyedfanboy. A little much?
It's a good game with a good story, but if you hate RPGs, you will hate this, as it's doing nothing nontraditional for RPGs. - Fatcheeseguy, on 10/19/2008, -0/+10Would this be possible to play on the PSP, since I am able to play GBA emulators on it? If so, how?
- ism70605, on 10/19/2008, -0/+9Or one could write their own EPROM with an EPROM writer for the more legitimate feel.
- NaziHatinChimp, on 10/19/2008, -1/+10Google "mother 3 j" exactly like that.
- katanaswordfish, on 10/20/2008, -0/+9Mother 2/Earthbound didn't do well in the US because it was poorly marketed. The advertisements said, "This Game Stinks" and they gave out horrible chemical scratch and sniff stickers. On the other hand, the game did pretty damn well in Japan, and so did Mother 3.
- RobotBuddha, on 10/19/2008, -1/+10I almost can't believe this! How...awesome! Even more, I'm 'sick' and don't work for a couple days. Normally this would be annoying, but I get to sit in bed playing earthbound 3. Talk about the most awesome blast to my childhood, ever.
If anyone even remotly involved with this project is seeing this, thank you. I'm sure you know how much of an impact this series made on a lot of our childhoods, and seeing it getting this kind of respect is wonderful. Not to mention getting to play it! That there's a patching tool for osx and even linux is amazingly thoughtful as well. I was all prepared to fire up virtual box, and then saw I didn't have to go to the trouble!
Time to go crank this

up a few times in celebration. - JakeKreber, on 10/20/2008, -0/+9The year is 20XX
coincidence? - badassninja, on 10/20/2008, -0/+8Thank you, because I was feeling way to lazy to patch it myself.
- Tiak, on 10/19/2008, -0/+8I would buy 3 Wiis as a display of gratitude if I could get a Super Mario RPG 2 on them.
- FoxOrian, on 10/19/2008, -0/+8No joke, they did a great job. But knowing Starmen.net, I wasn't expecting it to be shoddy and do an injustice to the game.
The only other really good fan translation of a game I saw before this was Wonder Project J2. - ihatepeterh, on 10/19/2008, -2/+10I'm up to chapter 4, and so far, I think it's better. I love Earthbound, but I'm blown away with Mother 3 right now.
- lazyslacker, on 10/20/2008, -0/+7I'm gonna need to play earthbound first. Also, I'm expecting to be dugg down for this.
- katanaswordfish, on 10/20/2008, -0/+7Timeless visuals, excellent music, cool and strange design elements, fun gameplay, creative stories.
Basically everything that modern games lack. - Xizer, on 10/19/2008, -0/+7Congratulations Nintendo, you just lost an opportunity to make a lot of cash by releasing an official version.
- fiatjustitia, on 10/19/2008, -2/+9if you have to ask, you'll never know.
- honeymustardn, on 10/19/2008, -0/+7No fan translation, but there was an official one - but they never released it commercially (it was found by fans though). http://www.angelfire.com/pa3/goku141/earthboundzer ... (sorry for angelfire of all sites)
- Drull, on 10/19/2008, -0/+7You can leave at any time I think.
