Soul Caliber is fun but it falls into the standard fighting game trend of having to memorize long combo chains. Aside from the newest Tekken no other fighting game forces you to create your own combination or learn as many advanced techniques as melee.

      • TheTOH, on 01/30/2008, -0/+3If you count Sheik, Zero Suit Samus, and the two extra Pokemon packed into Pokemon Trainer, you'd get 39, which comes pretty close to 40, assuming we get a 35th roster spot. There was actually a list circulating the past couple weeks, and it said there would be 35 character slots. So far, the 34 character slots that have been shown were all on that list. Wolf is all that's left.

Roy was a bit slower (considerably, really), but Marth's speed advantage wasn't enough to justify the enemy's quicker recovery time. You just have to time your hits more carefully with Roy, or you'll get owned by a faster character.

      For instance, Ness was top tier in the original SSB, and was at the bottom in Melee. Happens all the time.

Dr. Mario is probably my favorite character also, and for those people out there who think he is just a simple clone of Mario do not know what they are talking about. He maneuvers horizontally better, falls slower, wavedashes farther, and has better moves. It would be a shame if he doesn't make it into the game. I'm still hoping that he will be an unlockable.

I'm gonna miss the bunch he did in the air that was always good for sending opponents flying... regular Mario was just too weak and light. I don't know why they got rid of him either since he was just a clone and couldn't take too much extra programming. Maybe they rebalanced mario to be more like Dr. Mario.

    there is so much room to add them , even as extra costumes for their base characters. This game is going to have the most characters of any ssb game yet.
