- IdiotequeDance, on 10/10/2007, -1/+30That blue glow looks so nice, it's a shame there's no option to turn it on permanently (and perhaps then make it pulse when an update is available/a message is received)...
- turpenine, on 10/10/2007, -0/+24well the disk slot glows... but here is referring to the menu button.
- barc0001, on 10/10/2007, -0/+23I don't have a modded Wii, so I did the upgrade, but I was amused to see that Nintendo actually seems to care about the people with mods, as part of the upgrade process brought up a dialog essentially saying if your Wii was modded, this might screw it up, so you might not want to do this. I am quite certain the other console companies would not feel such a friendly warning was good for business..
- Bossman1086, on 10/10/2007, -1/+17Call Nintendo. Best customer support.
- varunb007, on 10/10/2007, -8/+24i still refuse to update because my modded wii works fine and i don't want to risk stuff getting screwed up
- badjoke, on 10/10/2007, -5/+16"Your Wii might have just started glowing blue. Here's why."
- Bossman1086, on 10/10/2007, -0/+11You could just send yourself a message...through your email and don't check it. Or have a friend send you something. Also, you don't have to read the message to update.
- MatttK, on 10/10/2007, -1/+11I gave keyboard support a go.. mine didn't work. :/
The other thing I'm still waiting for is a Flash player update but that's Adobe's fault more than anything. - OrangeofDoom, on 10/10/2007, -0/+10USB keyboard support *was* added to the Wii, but wasn't present when using Opera as of the update.
- doshindude, on 10/10/2007, -3/+13Wow, that was a quick fix (for nintendo at least).
anyone notice that the blue glow lights up on the Wii Menu now when there's an update? (there's also a noise letting you know) - TheVirus, on 10/10/2007, -0/+10It's a drive mod, the Wii won't know it exists. You can do whatever you want with updates as it won't affect the chip. Also, games, like Super Paper Mario, include firmware upgrades, so it's going to happen eventually.
- Protoss, on 10/10/2007, -0/+9Uh...no, MatttK is right, its Adobes fault. The Flash SDK, which is needed to port flash to other platforms (Like the Wii, PSP, etc) is still Flash 7.
- BlackTye, on 10/10/2007, -0/+8Ummm... Metroid?
- mancat, on 10/10/2007, -0/+8Get a job and go buy one.
- varunb007, on 10/10/2007, -0/+8i'll look into it when its required to play games... i don't use any of that other crap
- varunb007, on 10/10/2007, -1/+9the deserving? i stood in line at 6am on launch for mine and that makes me as deserving or more deserving than anyone else. as for ***** it up, it's my choice to do whatever i want with it.
- Wahngrok, on 10/10/2007, -1/+8Gosh! So the rumors that the update can break the Wii are true then, eh?
- Bossman1086, on 10/10/2007, -7/+14Um, the last update was supposed to add keyboard support. That's what IGN said, anyways. Apparently they tried it...was in the Wii team's weekly podcast. Said USB keyboards work now.
But anyways, you don't need a damn keyboard...if you want a keyboard, use your computer to surf. - blahtastic, on 10/10/2007, -0/+6I swear I saw a video of someone who modded it slightly (not the console or playback ability, just the circuitry of the light) to dim and brighten with the audio output while playing games... Cant find the video though. Anyone have it?
- Shawn4168, on 10/10/2007, -6/+12I love the irony in that you modded your Wii, yet you say you don't want to "risk" screwing up your console.
- ObeseSnake, on 11/14/2007, -0/+6You can turn the blue glow on permanently by sending an email to your Wii and not opening or reading it. Blue light will stay on.
- emjaymj, on 10/10/2007, -2/+7My shop channel STILL won't freaking work, even though I can use the opera browser just fine.
- Korexz, on 10/10/2007, -2/+7Modding to "Homebrew" is just an obfuscation of "Stealing games that I am too cheap to buy".
- plagiats, on 10/10/2007, -0/+4IdiotequeDance : This might be what you are looking for

or if you read german http://www.modfreax.de/tutorials/wii_light_mod.html
( link found on http://wiili.org/ ) - Cyber_Akuma, on 10/10/2007, -0/+4Don't you love it when people think AR is good for nothing but infinite lives? Never expiremented with debug rooms or "deleted" characters and levels? Or just overall giving a game wacky physics for the fun of it?
Also, what is your argument with freeloader?
Finally, neither the AR nor Freeloader allows one to play burned games or roms. - Shawn4168, on 10/10/2007, -0/+4Yeah, that surprises me too. I guess it will save them thousands of unnecessary service calls in the long run, though, and it will probably discourage people who haven't modded yet from doing so in the future. But for me, I'd just as soon say screw the modders, let their systems break.
- Pic0, on 10/10/2007, -1/+4SSX Blurr is awesome, $30 and RE4 is amazing, $30 too.
- phort99, on 10/10/2007, -0/+3If you'd read the message from Nintendo they mention that one of the modifications this update is meant to fix the Internet browser channel crashing.
- SkippyDoorknob, on 10/10/2007, -0/+3No online netowork? I guess all the online Mario Strikers games I've been playing are a figment of my imagination.
- Bossman1086, on 10/10/2007, -0/+3Fair enough. I like the other stuff, though. Only reason I haven't bought a mod chip yet.
- ontain, on 10/10/2007, -0/+3I use it to watch youtube from my couch with a remote. it works well.
- Rupan, on 10/10/2007, -0/+3OMG Nintendo just got new respect from me. They have a warning that says "If you have a modchip this update may cause your console to stop working. Please turn the system off and ignore this update' (paraphrased) Does this mean nintendo accepts and realizes that not all chippers are pirates, and some just want and hope for the ability to have great homebrew games around the Wiimote?
- coheedcollapse, on 10/10/2007, -1/+3For those with mod chips this update will stop some GC format discs from running natively on the Wii (I don't know about actual games, but SNES emulator discs and modchip setup discs are having some trouble) , but from what I've seen it's not a big deal. Backed up Wii games run perfectly from what I've seen.
Good news though. If your modchip was installed with the battery in, the date glitch is gone (if it's happened to you, you'll know what I'm talking about). - xmorridin, on 10/10/2007, -0/+2I love when my wii pulsates blue
- rYno, on 10/10/2007, -0/+2thought I saw it updating earlier... :/
- Cyber_Akuma, on 10/10/2007, -0/+2Isn't it standard practice though to increment the version number whenever you officially publicly release a change/update to a software product, even if its just a bugfix?
- furashi, on 10/10/2007, -0/+2That's not right either. :) Adobe only lets companies like Nintendo license Flash 7 at the moment.
- coheedcollapse, on 10/10/2007, -0/+2Whoops. We're talking about different updates here. Apparently there's another one because my Wii is blinking at me. I have to choose between possibly screwing something up and updating the Wii before I go to bed to shut the light off and actually sleeping tonight. Or I can unplug it. Whatever really.
- SkippyDoorknob, on 10/10/2007, -0/+2The Metroid Preview channel is an item in the WiiWare section of the shopping channel, it wasn't part of the system update a few days ago.
- MrSidnet, on 10/10/2007, -0/+2wtf? double post. Bury this..
- SkippyDoorknob, on 10/10/2007, -0/+2The blue light goes off as soon as you turn on your Wii, even if you don't read the message.
- chubbybubba, on 10/10/2007, -4/+6I like my wii glowing blue... I haven't updated just because of that. (nothing worth playing anyway until galaxy comes out)
- SkippyDoorknob, on 10/10/2007, -0/+1Because this is a new update that only appeared Monday night
- championchap, on 10/10/2007, -0/+1Thats what I'm saying. There is no Metroid Chanel for us yet.
- longhairman1337, on 10/10/2007, -0/+1I wonder why my wii's disk slot was glowing blue for like 3 straight hours until i turned it on and off
- inactive, on 10/10/2007, -0/+1indeed and why pay for over priced vc games when you can just download a romdisk and have 9gb of games on 1 disk.
- MrSidnet, on 10/10/2007, -0/+1My BenQ keyboard works fine on the Wii, but being that this update was targeted to the Opera Browser, I didnt bother mentioning that the Browser has no keyboard support.
- ddobson, on 10/10/2007, -0/+1Never used it seriously until this past weekend when my wife and I had to work on a mailing for 4 hours. Fired up the Wii, put on YouTube and kept ourselves entertained for the afternoon with stuff we didn't have to watch closely.
- Blah_Blah_Blah, on 10/10/2007, -0/+1it won't, you hvae to go to the metroid channel and check what date the video comes out and it'll be available that day.
- fak3r, on 10/10/2007, -0/+1True that, I'm about ready to sell SSX Blur - I have ALL of of the SSX's before, with the last on the GameCube, SSX TOUR, being incredible. It's a shame they put forth such a lackluster effort here.
