- ares041, on 12/07/2007, -3/+63i'm glad activision is owning up to their mistake, other companies should take note.
- Rev0lver, on 12/07/2007, -4/+60Didn't know lazy development was a "bug".
- squirrelza, on 12/07/2007, -1/+37It's good they're offering replacement disks but something like this should not happen in the first place.
- lucidguru, on 12/07/2007, -2/+35And take away my mono sound!? then what can I do about my deaf ear?
- mattyice11, on 12/07/2007, -4/+34Other companies patch games all the time. It's just a shame the Wii can't really support patching.
- KenSPT, on 12/07/2007, -1/+29I always thought gargling with salt water was the best way to fix mono ...
- durandal2005, on 12/07/2007, -9/+29When are they going to ship new discs that fix the Nintendo64-level graphics?
- ryan899, on 12/07/2007, -1/+16Don't get a replacement disc?
- Otnip, on 12/07/2007, -4/+15That isn't what Guitar Hero should ever be about...
- biznatch11, on 12/07/2007, -1/+11This is great news, now if only I could actually find one in stock somewhere.
- DarkStalker, on 12/07/2007, -4/+14You definitely haven't played it on any other system then.
- FirstDigg, on 12/07/2007, -1/+10It'll rock even more with the Dolby Pro Logic Audio they promised for the Wii working. =]
- tapo, on 12/07/2007, -2/+11If that was the case, don't you think it would apply to all three versions?
- uppedbyhiggins, on 12/07/2007, -0/+8You haven't played N64 in a while.
- MixMastaKooz, on 12/07/2007, -0/+8I believe the tracks were copied in mono from the master...I don't think it can be fixed with an update: unless you want to download every single GH3 song on your wii....just make sure you have a 2-4GB SD card in it!
- tapo, on 12/07/2007, -1/+9Not as much as GH1, GH2, or Rock Band - and this honestly shouldn't have happened in the first place :-/
- TheG2, on 12/07/2007, -1/+8Don't be so drastic, a fork in the ear will give the same effect and won't ruin the speakers.
- scottsolo, on 12/07/2007, -6/+13Actually, most concerts are NOT in mono. Especially bands that have thousands of fans showing up. There are a TON of stereo effects that cannot be recreated using mono. Things like reverb and distortion effects, the drum set overheads will most certainly be panned L/R somewhat.... Stereo creates an entirely different sonic image, and I think it's ridiculous for ANY game these days (not to mention, a game about MUSIC) to be played in Mono. Just ridiculous.
- fognozzle, on 12/07/2007, -2/+9Replacing all of the music in Guitar Hero represents more than can just be patched.
- SkippyDoorknob, on 12/07/2007, -2/+8Jab a fork into one of your speakers and wiggle it around for a bit.
- Korexz, on 12/07/2007, -0/+6The Wii guitar is really just a shell, the others are actual controllers. I would be even happier if when Activision replaces my disk that they send another guitar. Realistically the thing should only cost $25 retail.
- Renton, on 12/07/2007, -2/+8Well maybe they should fix the Nintendo64 level graphics on every system then.
- NnyCW, on 12/07/2007, -0/+6Which is why every other version of the game is fine.
- nicko68, on 12/07/2007, -4/+10I avoided the Red Ring of Death on the 360 by not buying one. So far it's working great.
- ChiTownsWarrior, on 12/08/2007, -1/+6You're right, it's Nintendo's fault that Activision made a development mistake. I hope Activision sends you the bill.
- danielco, on 12/07/2007, -1/+6Thank Jeebus. It's about freakin time!
(not that it matters i still can't beat Slash on Hard) - Almadiel, on 12/07/2007, -1/+6Good luck getting downloadable songs when you can't even get downloadable patches. And this almost certainly is a problem with the code, not the songs themselves. There is no reason why they would have intentionally put mono encodings of the songs only on the wii version. What is happening is that they are unintentionally (I hope) downmixing the sounds into mono. This is probably just a bug, and I would bet its a simple one to fix (or would be if they could actually distribute a patch).
- h4rdcor3, on 12/07/2007, -1/+6Try playing on a Dolby Pro Logic II system. their is no way way you can't tell the difference.
- Laxaloot, on 12/07/2007, -1/+5If they didn't someone could file a lawsuit for false advertising considering the box claims you get dolby pro logic II
- YoHenYo, on 12/07/2007, -0/+4Maybe they should include a few new songs on it.
- doshindude, on 12/08/2007, -0/+4this has nothing to do with bad TVs.
- Mrstupid7, on 12/08/2007, -0/+4You're watching the people? I wish I knew the songs that well.
- IIIBTW, on 12/07/2007, -10/+13GH3 rocks!
- rumorsofdemise, on 12/07/2007, -2/+5I didn't notice either, up until I played my friend's copy for PS3.
- VeganG, on 12/07/2007, -3/+6It's disappointing that Wii games can't be patched.
- MacHarborGuy, on 12/07/2007, -0/+3GOOD. I was just playing GH3 last night and Through The Fire and Flames sounds horrible no matter how I have the Wii's sound set up.
- BlueSkyfish, on 12/08/2007, -0/+3The 360 and PS3 versions have problems with the controllers. IDK about you, but I'd rather have mono sound than a faulty controller that doesn't register button presses correctly.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Guitar_hero_iii#Techn ... - sindex, on 12/07/2007, -0/+3Clearly this is feature, not a bug.
- TheG2, on 12/07/2007, -1/+3The system started giving me disc read errors and I pulled it out to see a perfectly circular scratch on the dvd.
- bleonard, on 12/07/2007, -2/+4Because they have to re-master discs, I wonder how much money this is costing Activision. I'm sure its costing more than a patch for the XBOX 360 or PS3 version which would be available for download and media-free.
- troub, on 12/07/2007, -2/+4"They could have easily placed a small update patch as a Wii Ware download."
Wii games are not "installed" to local storage, so it would have to be written into the game to check an SD card, local memory, etc. for replacement code and somehow manage to handle swapping it in and out of memory while the game is running without ever loading the old code from disc. It may be possible, but it would seem like all that checking would be very inefficient and difficult to code, which is probably why you don't hear about games being patchable on the Wii. - Mrstupid7, on 12/08/2007, -0/+2I bought a console so I wouldn't have to patch their ***** product. It's called quality control.
- CBanga, on 12/07/2007, -1/+3How would you know the disc is scratched if it has never left your Wii?
- gweedo767, on 12/08/2007, -1/+3That is because it is a horrible song...it has nothing to do with the mono issue.
- MRintheKeys, on 12/07/2007, -0/+2Just don't kiss it until it's cured.
- Mrstupid7, on 12/08/2007, -0/+2We're playing console games. I can't believe you think it's acceptable to have patches for console games.
- inactive, on 12/07/2007, -0/+2Its about time
http://www.petitiononline.com/mod_perl/signed.cgi? ... - doshindude, on 12/08/2007, -0/+2My favorite is when the characters walk through things and the singer puts his hands through the mic.
- krakelohm, on 12/08/2007, -1/+3I am thinking... mail.
- benmakesmovies, on 12/07/2007, -2/+3That's pretty damn impressive
