the raccoon and tanuki suits were different. raccoon suit gave him ears and a tail. tanuki suit was the full body deal. - Smyley, on 10/23/2009, -1/+7I think it's because it's based off the Japanese creature, a Tanuki, which looks a lot like a raccoon. No joke, the tanuki has huge balls, which grant him flying power. I believe mario's "tail" was not actually a tail at first, but the balls. Someone correct me if I'm wrong.

At least it's that way for things I have made... which aren't really more than knitted rectangles.
