- supasurg, on 10/11/2007, -1/+315Sounds easy....but where do I get five friends?
- dj_sea2005, on 10/11/2007, -5/+98i almost had a friend once
- Lordpenguin007, on 10/11/2007, -10/+84I don't think Digg users are capable of this operation. By stating the obvious, we have a severe lack of friends
- dorianh49, on 10/11/2007, -4/+73Yeah! Some of us still sleep on our parents' foldout couch!
- sirchrissypoo, on 10/11/2007, -3/+58There's always a catch...
- larrykoopa, on 10/11/2007, -4/+49"Just slip the hundred dollar bills into her thong and she walks off the stage and comes back with a Wii clamped in between her boobs."
Wtf? - inactive, on 10/11/2007, -7/+49Oddly enough, about 70 people have befriended me here on Digg.
http://digg.com/users/ilyag/friends/befriended
Who the hell are you, people!? - inactive, on 10/11/2007, -5/+42Yeah, and the smartest thing to do is put it on the front page for all of digg to see.
Way to go. - J3yrad, on 10/11/2007, -5/+40MySpace of course...
/sarcasm - meatmcguffin, on 10/11/2007, -5/+35"You win the smartest boy of the day prize."
Could the comment have been.....a.....joke?
I think the winner should be disqualified from the contest which makes you the winner by default. - TheGeneral, on 10/11/2007, -2/+28It says earn a Wii OR 1 year of gamefly...I wonder which one they give out more often??
/sarcasm - AcePup, on 10/11/2007, -0/+19Cheaper way... Tell your friends to sign up through your link and use http://www.brightspot.tv they will credit your gamefly account up to $10 each month. So instead of giving your friends $10 each and losing $50 tell em to use the website and get it free and not spend money in the process.
Brightspot is legit and is in the FAQ for Gamefly. - playhouse, on 10/11/2007, -1/+18then its not fake is it
- mywhitenoise, on 10/11/2007, -0/+14*****, I emailed them about it, they word it as '30 days'. I got 5 friends to do it, and when they weren't shown as paying members, I emailed them, and they gave me the form right away. They sent me the DS Lite in probably less than 2 weeks. This all happened about 2 months ago. You can even check my ebay account to see the Black DS Lite I sold.
- DrummerBones, on 10/11/2007, -1/+14More like try to find 5 friends who haven't maxed out their credit cards
- magicjames92, on 10/11/2007, -8/+21DO NOT DO THIS, AFTER DOING IT SOME GUY ON AIM STARTED HACKING MY COMPUTER, HE WAS TELL ING ME EVERYTHING I WAS TYPING AND DOING
- mywhitenoise, on 10/11/2007, -2/+15You don't know anything about business. This isn't hurting their profits, they're gaining money, and a prolonged customer base.
- CannedMango, on 10/11/2007, -6/+19Thanks to you this trick will no longer work. Why must people wreck good things for popularity?
- Nerys, on 10/11/2007, -0/+10Or 5 $10 gift cards from your local mall (many of which are visa debit cards and work with ANY name like cash)
- mywhitenoise, on 10/11/2007, -0/+9Well, most people wont invest time, or money on things they're unsure of. A lot of people don't have 5 friends who are willing to do this. A lot of people on digg don't have friends at all.
Besides, they clearly state they make more money this way, then to advertise on their own, that's why this offer is so cheap. They're prepared for this. This only means the more people who try to 'scam' them, the more customers they end up getting in the long run. - AcePup, on 10/11/2007, -1/+8@blazecloud, do you think Gamefly cares, they are still getting there $10 none-the-less. One reason why they have the brightspot.tv promo
- joey368, on 10/11/2007, -0/+7How is Gamefly gonna find a Wii?
- daofma, on 10/11/2007, -1/+6Or you could create fake names and make them authorized cardholders. Although that would technically be fraud, if you were to use it for this purpose, so I don't advise it.
- cam503, on 10/11/2007, -1/+6The site is currently down.
Something makes me think Gamefly may be changing this after all. - Elranzer, on 10/11/2007, -2/+6"yea no *****. gamefly is what, $20 a month. So that's what??? ....thinks for a second.... $273"
Hey short bus, $20 * 12 is $240. (pretty close to the Wii's $250 MSRP) - aten, on 10/11/2007, -0/+4http://friends.gamefly.com/
- frederoil, on 10/11/2007, -0/+4Friends must be those people who DON'T ignore you, right?
- ryanvsrobots, on 10/11/2007, -3/+7you're retarded if you think the two things are related...
- MakutaBloodlust, on 10/11/2007, -4/+8ltworek: show me these theoretical "Diggers with lives".
- bightchee, on 10/11/2007, -4/+8What a fool I was waking up early on a Sunday to purchase a Wii of my own. All I have to show for it are the five people I got to keep as friends.
- aten, on 10/11/2007, -0/+4How do I indicate whether I would like to earn a Nintendo Wii or a free year of GameFly service?
After you meet all the eligibility requirements you will receive instructions on how to redeem your reward by submitting a redemption certificate. You will be able to select your specific reward on the redemption certificate. - MakutaBloodlust, on 10/11/2007, -1/+5from terms&conditions: "GameFly will begin to bill your credit card for monthly membership fees plus applicable sales tax AT THE COMPLETION OF YOUR PRE-PAID MEMBERSHIP PERIOD unless you cancel PRIOR TO THE END OF the pre-paid period."
so, unless you quit before the end of the month, they charge you for the second month.
and if you do quit earlier, you can't get the Wii. - weeeeeeee, on 10/11/2007, -0/+4does my mom count?
- Matt2k, on 10/11/2007, -4/+7YOU NEED TO STOP TOUCHING YOURSELF, KENT
- Thorlord, on 10/11/2007, -0/+3so thats what my friend was doing...
he made me this same offer. - JonnyTrombone, on 10/11/2007, -0/+3Even with articles like this, something tells me that Gamefly won't be taking the promotion down. A lot of the people who get signed up for the service this way (to help a friend get a Wii) will probably keep it. If they weren't confident in their ability to make money this way, they wouldn't have the promotion.
- rudy23, on 10/11/2007, -9/+12@ltworek ^^^^
learn to take a joke man - supersheep7, on 10/11/2007, -0/+3BE CAREFUL. I read the Terms of Use on the GameFly website, and it explicity says that even if you complete the program of 5 referrals, they are not obligated to send you anything at all. I've also heard stories from friends about programs like this coming through, but just be wary.
- mywhitenoise, on 10/11/2007, -1/+4I got my DS lite from them. It works. I'd do it again with this promotion, but you can't do it to the same address more than once.
- inactive, on 10/11/2007, -5/+7why don't you just get 5 friends to send me $10 each and i'll get you a Wii***
*** Legal disclaimer: I reserve the right to substitute a Wii at my discretion for a bag of marbles or possibly some waffles. Maybe a can of tuna. - Doorfingers, on 10/11/2007, -0/+1wow i didn't even have to go to the story great description!
- wastedthelight, on 10/11/2007, -2/+3i may do this. i got my ipod from freeipod.com (see i didnt link a referral cause i ALREADY HAVE ONE). but if you go to their site and go to the company who owns it, they have a photogallery, im the first picture, have been for 2 years now cause i made such a stupid face during it, lol. BUT not all work but since this is GameFly...yeah...i'd trust it.
also that picture of me was used on a myspace banner, i got calls from friends and family and i had no idea, was pretty funny. - MindStalker, on 10/11/2007, -2/+3@lumiras: Businesses don't think that short term. I'd be willing to bet at least 2 out of the 5 people will keep thier membership especially if they are gamers, some may even opt for the more expensive options.
20*3 + 2*20*12(12 months though quite possibly more). = 540, plus you the Wii scammer a possible 240 additonal Sure they lose some money on the fact that after paying for the wii these guys are getting the first year at an effective rate of 10 a month. But so what.. Hell a Dish Network rep told me once that they spent on average $600 per subscriber on advertising plus hardware, so this sorta thing isn't rare at all. - sharigan, on 10/11/2007, -0/+1congo line does not work in digg
- psyonide, on 10/11/2007, -0/+1Nice. I know a few people who can't find Wii's. I'm gonna see if I can get this going for them.
- BenKenobi88, on 10/11/2007, -0/+1Those bastards! I was wondering how you're supposed to be a member for a full month but not get charged for another though...
Still...I'd be willing to pay my friends $125 and get a Wii. I'll make them rent a few Wii games for me hehe. - inactive, on 10/08/2009, -0/+1megalize larijuana
- adrake86, on 10/11/2007, -0/+1NOw that this has been dug so many times people are gonna overload gamefly and they are gonna figure out what is up.
- TheGeneral, on 10/11/2007, -0/+1Can I get that Gamefly subscription money to buy a Wii? ...there's not even enough games I want to rent to warrant a yearlong subscription to Gamefly.
- spyrochaete, on 10/11/2007, -1/+2Why would they take it down? They're doing this promotion to cultivate business by showing their product to people. Articles like this are free advertising.
