- Loornadune, on 04/30/2008, -2/+15I Don't understand why Nintendo won't capitalize on this series that will get them a good chunk of change. Seriously, most of the people that I know that own a Wii would probably buy Earthbound/Mother, and They really need to get off their lazy chair and do an official translation of Mother 3.
Earthbouuuunnnnnd!- littlelives, on 04/30/2008, -1/+4It especially doesn't make much sense since it is free to distribute digitally. So even if the vast majority of Wii owners don't purchase the game, it is not like they lose anything. Seriously, this better not be because Nintendo doesn't want to open old wounds.
- djSyndrome, on 04/30/2008, -3/+1It is not 'free' - ESRB certification costs money (the rumored figure is $12k). Still, for Earthbound Nintendo would easily make that back in a heartbeat.
- Sirocco, on 04/30/2008, -1/+1$1500, actually.
- djSyndrome, on 04/30/2008, -3/+1Source?
- Nudar, on 04/30/2008, -1/+1Didn't ESRB certify it about 15 years ago?
- Sirocco, on 05/01/2008, -0/+1http://www.gamasutra.com/php-bin/letter_display.ph ...
It's from '03, but from the people I've spoken to the fees have remained the same. Either way, the ESRB updates virtual console games with content descriptors, and I doubt they do that for free ;)

- fael, on 04/30/2008, -3/+4hell... they haven't even released Smash Bros 64!
dugg for Earthbound.

- doshindude, on 04/30/2008, -22/+1um...it isn't the most wanted. Sorry, but it isn't.
- InfiniteNothing, on 04/30/2008, -2/+5How do you figure?
- luna124, on 04/30/2008, -2/+5well considering everyone voted for it and Nintendo Power printed the poll with EarthBound at #1 I would say that it is ....
- ozztastic, on 04/30/2008, -2/+8Then what IS more wanted?.... and why didn't it beat EarthBound on that list?
- farfromsubtl, on 04/30/2008, -1/+3Care to substantiate that bold claim?
- heypetray, on 04/30/2008, -0/+1He said so?
- XenoSNK, on 04/30/2008, -0/+1Hey. You're a dick.
- XenoSNK, on 04/30/2008, -1/+9I love how the list consists of games we probably won't see ever (except Majora's Mask).
- farfromsubtl, on 04/30/2008, -1/+2Sad, but true.
- McSploogins, on 04/30/2008, -1/+5I got SMRPG when i was in in 2nd grade. It was the first rpg I've ever played and it got me hooked on the genre. Honestly it was easily one of my favorite games of all time. And now that I'm on the subject. I wish Geno could've been in Brawl :(
- heypetray, on 04/30/2008, -0/+1Yeah, but when you think about it, his move set would have been kinda lacking. Oh wait. I'm thinking of Sonic.
- ozztastic, on 04/30/2008, -3/+6How great a PR move it would be for Nintendo to FINALLY FREAKIN' DECIDE to put EarthBound on the virtual console...
I guess this is an excellent opportunity for the big N to show whether they actually care what their fans think or not.
But alas, they'll probably just keep shoveling out the far more massive hits that the fans are clamoring for, like the cult classic of Donkey Kong Jr. Math. Oh, that one must just be FLOODING the Nintendo servers with downloads. Yay, Nintendo marketing -- you sure do know your audience.
Dummies.- heypetray, on 04/30/2008, -0/+1I'm sure it's as simple as releasing them because you think it's a good idea. Maybe they are doing the right thing by holding out and waiting for a dip in downloaded content. I'm no marketing expert and neither are you.
- SasaLukac, on 04/30/2008, -2/+6i'm surprised the original Smash didn't get a top spot, but kudos to Chrono Trigger!
- djSyndrome, on 04/30/2008, -1/+2I'm not. Smash has had two superior sequels, both of which are playable on the Wii. But there is only one Earthbound.
- SeventhSon, on 04/30/2008, -1/+8If they make it, I'll go out and buy a Wii just to hear the Runaway Five play again.
- farfromsubtl, on 04/30/2008, -1/+2You said it.
- mack788, on 04/30/2008, -8/+3I could never get into this game. I bought for 50 bucks on ebay, tried playing it, never was interesting to me and I love classic RPG's. Sold back on ebay for 50 bucks. Besides you can just play it on an emulater for free.
- honeymustardn, on 04/30/2008, -4/+2Yeah stealing money from game developers is always fun.
- djSyndrome, on 04/30/2008, -1/+4No new copies in pipeline = not stealing from developers. Not saying that piracy is okay, but try a different argument next time.
- D14BL0, on 04/30/2008, -0/+1It doesn't matter if there's new copies or not. I can make 20 copies of X game and then stop. It doesn't justify making illegal copies of the original 20.
And you people wonder why the game developers are so uninterested in making new games. BECAUSE PEOPLE KEEP STEALING THEM. - heypetray, on 04/30/2008, -0/+1D14BL0:
As long as the first 20 copies are sold, the developers have earned all the money they can. If those 20 copies are pirated after the series has been discontinued, then it's the company's poor distribution and planning that is to blame. Buying a copy on ebay from your mom is the same as playing the emulator - Neither effect the developers.

- Zap2, on 04/30/2008, -0/+1you can't say that on digg!

- n8r0n, on 04/30/2008, -4/+5How can you say that? This game has been out of production for years. you cannot buy it new. There is no loss to the developers. Hell, using your logic, buying it on ebay from a private seller is stealing money from the developers.

- acero47, on 04/30/2008, -1/+6Your mind is all you have left...
In the end, I will take your mind,
though you probably don't want to allow that, do you?
So... you can't answer? You can't even move?
Are you sad, are you lonely?
If you lose your mind, you also lose any feelings of sadness...
Do you accept this?- Nudar, on 04/30/2008, -0/+1Yes
- scooterbaga, on 04/30/2008, -0/+4I want a translated Earthbound 2/Mother 3. They should release all three for the VC. The Wii is begging for stuff like this. They're essentially throwing away money! DAMN IT.
- cheerio, on 04/30/2008, -0/+2Nintendo, get your heads out of your asses please. Earthbound was an awesome RPG.
- airwalkery2k, on 04/30/2008, -0/+5I've sent Nintendo a few e-mails asking for Earthbound-related games to be released here. They rarely get answered, but one time a Nintendo rep answered my e-mail asking for a US release of Mother 1+2 by saying something along the lines of "Demand is great, but we don't release games based on demand."
What kind of business model is that?- Zap2, on 04/30/2008, -0/+2it would seem, based on Wii sales numbers, a winning one
- coheedcollapse, on 04/30/2008, -0/+1I'd rather have Mother 3 myself. I still own Earthbound in both ROM and original SNES form.
- MasterTroll, on 04/30/2008, -0/+1great game, but it wouldn't be that popular with new gamers/kids who have no idea what earthbound is.
- Rebel40000, on 05/01/2008, -0/+0On the contrary, I think it would do better than what it did back in '95. RPGs are far more mainstream than they were back then, and with Ness in all three Smash Bros. games, Lucas in Brawl, and so many stages, items, and trophies appearing in those games, people such as myself are certainly generating enough interest to play these games.
The Smash Bros. games is enough marketing to bring Fire Emblem, a series which was Japanese-only, over here, so why not EarthBound, a series which already had a game translated (two if you consider EarthBound Zero)?

- YAOMTC, on 05/01/2008, -0/+0Come on, NoA! Get your head in the game!
- drewlew, on 05/03/2008, -0/+1I want to see Rygar.
- moocow1452, on 05/03/2008, -0/+1I voted for Mario Paint, but Earthbound would be pretty up there on the Awesomiter.
- LinDeviant, on 05/03/2008, -0/+1Earthbound would be awesome to see on VC.
Next up, the Seiken Series!!! :D
