- supakoopa, on 04/07/2009, -1/+24Dugg for a nice website with a good format and interesting information.
- xenmaster4, on 04/08/2009, -1/+10Nope - this is different from the sp - micro 'upgrade' in three ways.
1. New hardware capabilities (2 cameras, for whatever that's wroth - we'll have to see what developers do with it).
2. They've announced plans for DSi "enhanced" games (that will play on old DS and DS-lite units but will have something extra on the DSi) and "DSi only" games - which won't play at all on older hardware.
3. DSi has an online game store similar to Wii-Ware with downloadable DS titles (and the potential for a portable virtual console... but no announced plans)
It's not DS2 - but it's definitely more than just a cosmetic change. - jakk, on 04/07/2009, -1/+10I digg the content, I digg the site.
Dugg. - Bungleboss, on 04/08/2009, -1/+9It's like CSI DSi
Seriously though, who's left that hasn't already bought an original DS or one of the lites. I thought they've sold about 100 million, billion, gazillion of them.
Is this supposed to be the new super slinky one like the Game Boy Micro? - inactive, on 04/07/2009, -3/+9R.I.P DSi
- Elranzer, on 04/08/2009, -1/+7It will outlast its battery life...
- Naryuu, on 04/08/2009, -1/+7nerd porn...
- nachochease, on 04/08/2009, -0/+4Yes the DSi does have significantly less battery life than its predesesor. Check out the review on Cnet.
- Lorddias, on 04/08/2009, -1/+4Er... since the battery is so much smaller does that mean the DS Lite has more battery life?
FTA:
"The DSi uses a smaller 840mAh rechargeable battery (right) compared to 1000mAh for the DS Lite (left). The difference in size is proportionate to the difference in capacity."

- Daemastrius, on 04/08/2009, -1/+3OGC
- emjaymj, on 04/09/2009, -0/+1WPA wireless capability is a really needed feature too. DS/DS Lite required your home network to use WEP which is just absurd...
- pygmy, on 04/08/2009, -1/+2but will it play my LYNX games?
- jackburtonxxxx, on 04/08/2009, -1/+2It will never out last my GameGear!!!!
- Zippo, on 04/08/2009, -1/+2Poor little DSi never stood a chance. It's fate was sealed... or rather, unsealed.
- VeniVidiVici182, on 04/08/2009, -1/+2Screwed your mom...
- trdrstv, on 04/09/2009, -0/+1Forgot to mention in #2 - there's a reason "DSi only games" won't play on other systems, the Processor is twice as fast, and it has 4 times the RAM of the DS, and DS lite.
- reyoo30309, on 04/08/2009, -1/+2Where are the power gems?
- Megatog615, on 04/08/2009, -2/+3Why the hell would they upgrade the hardware and make all new games that utilize it incompatible with the old DS's?
Nothing satisfies you Mac users... - inactive, on 04/10/2009, -0/+1I would be so afraid to take it apart because I would probably lose a tiny screw.
- Macintoshreader, on 04/08/2009, -1/+2Behold the new Nintendo DSi. Now with just barely more processing power than an iPod Classic/Nano, but a screen with less resolution and a lot less RAM. Now also introducing the revolutionary new Game Store, which allows you to do the same thing that the iPod touch has allowed you to do for almost 2 years.
AWESOME!!! - MichiganJeep, on 04/08/2009, -0/+1Maybe I missed it (ADD) but I didn't notice any warranty stickers.
- JudgeMonkey, on 04/08/2009, -1/+1That's the first thing I noticed when compared to the ds lite, it looks all scuffed up.
Probably looks nicer in person, I suspect. - airwalke, on 04/08/2009, -1/+1First, the Gameboy Autopsy article, and now this. I'd expect the innards of the DSi to look a lot more complex, but the differences between these two technologies are staggering.
http://www.pcworld.com/printable/article/id,162588 ... - JeddHampton, on 04/08/2009, -1/+1It still lasts plenty long, though.
- EngrJayze, on 04/08/2009, -1/+1hope they'll send me the gadget instead of mercilessly destroying it
- vietnamerican, on 04/08/2009, -0/+0umm actually, I believe that when they make a game for a gaming console, they make it so that it uses the hardware to the max. Now, if the DSi has more power than the DS, then the games that are made for the DSi will be too hardware intensive for the DS to handle. It's like trying to play a game that is made with the core 2 extreme as the minimum requirement will not work greatly on a system with lower hardware. Also, computers are more flexible than game consoles.
- robbob, on 04/08/2009, -1/+1All the King's horses and all the King's men...
- dronkmunk, on 04/08/2009, -1/+1Rool 34?
- Macintoshreader, on 04/08/2009, -1/+1They can upgrade it and still make it compatible. Are you saying that an app that works on an Intel Core 2 Duo will not work on an Intel Core 2 Extreme or Pentium D? It will be completely compatible as long as it uses the same architecture. They could've used a faster ARM processor like the one on the PSP, which runs @ 333MHz and has a larger cache, but they didn't because they want to keep making as much money as they were making from the DS. It all comes down to that the bastards don't want to raise the manufacturing costs on any of their machines.
- bilbravo, on 04/08/2009, -1/+1Didn't the App Store just release in July? That's not even a year.
- brownsin07, on 04/08/2009, -4/+3reveals built in blue ray player but it cannot be accessed...
- BBarash, on 04/08/2009, -3/+2I honestly feel that the DSi looks like a Chinese knock-off of the DS Lite. OMG!!11!1 IT HAS A CAMERA!!
That said, there are some pretty cool new features though. - digirob89, on 04/08/2009, -1/+0Wait wait wait.... No nintendo screws?
- vietnamerican, on 04/08/2009, -1/+0wow, does anyone agree that the DSi looks like it's something for the military? matte-gray case. Looks like a lenovo thinkpad
- Salginon, on 04/09/2009, -1/+0Unless you own Nintendo stock, why would you spend 40 dollars more for this?
- jackburtonxxxx, on 04/08/2009, -2/+0Totally true -10 HP for humiliation
- mdvideos, on 04/08/2009, -2/+0the new dsi is awesome, i cant wait for some games which will use the cameras in game.
