- Rovient, on 10/10/2007, -1/+132This 100% depends on one thing as to wether it's the best news or the worst news ever; is the lightsaber control going to be 1:1 with the wii remote?
If yes, then I'm over the moon! It'll be a true display of lightsaber skills as to who wins. You could create your own 'style' of fighting!
If no, this means that certain movements will simply trigger premade and designed animations, and once again I might as well be pressing a button. In which case, the developers will have taken the easy route and once again missed the whole point with the Wii.
Only time will tell on this one. - andyduncan, on 11/09/2007, -11/+112As if the Wii needed any more momentum. This is going to f-ing kick ass.
- AuburnTigers, on 11/09/2007, -1/+72The Star Wars Kid has been having wet dreams about this day...
- canewediggit, on 11/09/2007, -4/+65this plus mario kart = kick ass spring for wii owners.
- yomamaisfat, on 11/09/2007, -2/+60It's been used as a lightsaber for a while, except now it will be turned on.
- Crashwithuhk, on 10/10/2007, -2/+51This version is under development by Krome Studios as opposed to LucasArts (whose working on the 360/PS3 version). You might remember Krome Studios from such AAA titles as "Extremely Goofy Skateboarding", "Barbie Beach Volleyball" and "The Adventures of Jimmy Neutron Boy Genius: Jet Fusion"
Oh yeah... sounds like a reeeaaal winner there. - paulzy, on 10/10/2007, -10/+55something crazy just popped in my head... 2 wiimotes at once. dual saber action!
- shavenlunatic, on 10/10/2007, -0/+28force feedback.. isn't that a given?
and it also has a speaker built into it, so let the light sabre noises commence.. pssssiioowwww - canewediggit, on 10/10/2007, -2/+25in case you never saw this...... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VuzFzs0hPKc
- halohunter, on 10/10/2007, -1/+23Nintendo have said that it is entirely possible to have 1:1 controls in games.
- DanteDefiance, on 10/10/2007, -4/+24I must admit I am aroused.
All I ask for is 1:1 controls. Imagine a Jedi Outcast type game with 1:1 controls....*drools* - DanteDefiance, on 10/10/2007, -4/+23It means that the motions you make with the remote are directly translated on the screen.
- pxa270, on 10/10/2007, -2/+20Even if the control mimics what's on screen, what lots people miss at first is one natural limit of the control: it cannot provide resistance. Even if your sword hits another on screen, your Wiimote is just going to go right through it. The best you can get is some vibration feedback. So maybe it will be a lot better than the standard button/gamepad control. But maybe it will turn out to be one of those "uncanny valley" things, where a closer approximation to the real thing only emphasizes the difference.
- alexkorova, on 10/10/2007, -1/+17Real 1:1 will not be possible, in fact it would probably suck. You strike your enemies lightsaber and nothing happens since well, he is still holding his wiimote the same way. But sure, something where your character in the game tries to mimic your wiimote constantly could work pretty friggin great.
- cjh24, on 10/10/2007, -2/+17"I am so completely geeking out right now it isn't funny..." - nice
- pbaehr, on 10/10/2007, -0/+15Except he will be so paranoid that someone might be filming him that he will be paralyzed with fear every time he tries to play.
- ikrit2006, on 10/10/2007, -0/+13With movement controlled by the WiiFit balance board!
- SpatulaTheMixer, on 10/10/2007, -0/+13I had no idea "The Force" was trademarked....
- JoeVerrone, on 10/10/2007, -4/+16Sounds cool but I think we all know it will be disappointing.
- mediaspree, on 10/10/2007, -5/+16When they code named this thing Revolution I had no idea. No idea.
- inactive, on 10/10/2007, -0/+11The menu has 1:1 movement and rotation. Don't believe me? Go try it.
- Jeffler, on 10/10/2007, -1/+11The Wii isn't $250. It never has been.
$249.99 ;) - Lasereth, on 10/17/2007, -4/+13Oh come on guys. This will not be a wiisaber. You're gonna swing the wiimote 1 inch to the left to make the character do a huge lightsaber attack and you know it. The Wii isn't capable of emulating a perfect lightsaber attack, and frankly, gaming development code isn't even mature enough to calculate what would happen if you attacked in a wild manner. You guys are expecting the impossible. Someone said Red Steel in space...and it's the truth. Swing the wiisaber around all you want but after the 1 inch to the left you're just wasting energy.
- Jarasmen, on 10/10/2007, -1/+10ARRRRR, well be blowin' ma' seagulls an' call me a mackerel, tis' make ma' winds in ma' sails.
Arr. - h0ly, on 10/10/2007, -0/+9I find your lack of faith... disturbing
But yeah, expectations are so high that are nearly unreachable. - Azuroth, on 10/10/2007, -2/+10Sure, Wii Sports Baseball.
- Drull, on 10/10/2007, -1/+9Man, this the day starwars kid has dreamt of. Awesome.
- kennon, on 10/10/2007, -1/+9...but only because of the sensor bar (which provides two infrared dots so the infrared sensor at the end of the wii remote can calibrate to the screen).
AFAIK, the accelerometers inside the wii remote can only sense acceleration, not position, so it won't be perfectly 1:1.
I just hope it's better than the sword control for Zelda, which was terrible (a sad stroke against what was otherwise a completely fantastic game) - halohunter, on 10/10/2007, -0/+7I beg to differ. If the game determines your relative position using the infra red sensors, and you don't walk away from that position, the accelerometers will be able to calculate your relative position hence forth.
Example: Some monkey ball party games like wack-a-mole - cjh24, on 10/10/2007, -0/+7can you cite nintendo on that halohunter?
- Sithlrd, on 10/10/2007, -0/+7The Force is strong IN MY PANTS for this one.
- Liability, on 10/10/2007, -0/+6YES!
- Konrad9, on 10/10/2007, -0/+6Title is inaccurate.
Should have read: Announced: Pure Awesome for Wii. - MindStalker, on 10/10/2007, -0/+6It has a pretty good rumble to it to let you know when you've hit things. Works pretty well in other games.
- mtnhippy, on 10/10/2007, -3/+8Every time I swing the bat in Wii Sports Baseball I say to myself, "If they got this close to 1:1 with a pack-in game, certainly someone out there can put countless development hours into it and really nail 1:1 sword control." I believe it is possible, and during the lifetime of the Wii someone is going to implement it in an amazing way and create a mega-hit.
- cjh24, on 10/10/2007, -1/+6you can only play on one at a time, unless you're an electronic genius or som'n
- vichs, on 10/10/2007, -4/+9thats retarded.
- inactive, on 10/10/2007, -0/+5um..... how can you make a video without any lightsaber action?
- Slowface, on 10/10/2007, -0/+5the wii is proof that there are people that prefer or at least appreciate unique game play over graphical power.
this game should be amazing. - GameJobHunter, on 10/10/2007, -1/+6if the wiimote chops off my arm, i'm going to be pissed
- TenebrousX, on 10/10/2007, -0/+5The angle of the bat when you hold it over your shoulder is almost perfect
- slackerbox, on 10/10/2007, -1/+6The bat will swing if you move the controller but stop it before you do anything remotely close to a full swing. How is that 1:1?
- nunofgs, on 10/10/2007, -1/+5hah, joke's on you. NO PC VERSION.
Dumbest decision ever! - AntBing, on 10/10/2007, -0/+4online capability?
- andyduncan, on 10/10/2007, -8/+12sorry, but what are 1:1 controls?
- TubaTechno, on 10/10/2007, -0/+4But the bat can actually mimic the orientation of the wiimote, it's decent but a slight jolt will swing the bat, even without a full movement swing.
- bagboyrebel, on 10/10/2007, -0/+4Zelda was actually a Gamecube game with the motion controls added on.
- alexkorova, on 10/10/2007, -1/+5Real 1:1 will not be possible, in fact it would probably suck. You strike your enemies lightsaber and nothing happens since well, he is still holding his wiimote the same way. - DevlinD, on 10/10/2007, -0/+4*****. Yeah.
- shadokast, on 10/10/2007, -1/+5Yeah, so did half the dumb asses that bought Red Steel.
