- Gizza, on 12/23/2008, -1/+124Is it just me, or are Analysts the most pointless job on the planet? They basically get paid to guess and make stuff up.
- inactive, on 12/23/2008, -5/+48Buried for Gamespot.
I still remember how they ***** over Jeff Gerstmann, and want nothing to do with a company that puts ads before editorial content. - drlha, on 12/23/2008, -0/+33Analysts can "expect" anything they want. The chances of Nintendo having another Zelda up their sleeve without us having positive news about it coming 12 months in advance is extremely low. Just check any websites and see how far advance of release the previous Zelda games were announced/shown. I'd expect a new Zelda to be announced in 2009, but I doubt it'll get released until 2010.
- o0joshua0o, on 12/23/2008, -0/+22I'm going to go ahead and make the mind-blowing prediction that Nintendo is going to publish another Pokemon game within the next couple years.
- DigitalisAkujin, on 12/23/2008, -2/+23In other news: Half Life 3 in 2015. Story at 11.
- chaosblade77, on 12/23/2008, -0/+12Based on what Miyamoto said at a couple of shows this year, they don't even have the basic gameplay aspects for the next Zelda game yet, they were still trying to figure out what they wanted to do. There's no way we'd see anything about it until late next year at best considering the effort they put into that franchise.
- YancyFryJr, on 12/23/2008, -0/+12You might want to check the history books for that one.

- mattyboy555, on 12/23/2008, -1/+13Where is Majora mask on the virtual console? such an awesome under appreciated game.
- nesstheking1, on 12/23/2008, -0/+12You should be an analyst!
- apothekari, on 12/23/2008, -0/+11Exactly.
How are these ***** any different from The National Enquirer's year end "Top Predictions"? - opticwind, on 12/23/2008, -2/+13Zelda: I remember Miyamoto saying that Twilight Princess would be the last of "traditional" Zelda games, and that the next one will be a significant change compared to any before. Not just in gameplay, but in the very core basics. Can't wait to see that.
GTAV: I mean, that's great cause I love GTA but I'll honestly still be playing 4 in 2010. I just made it to the friggin' 2nd island this week. - BradOFarrell, on 12/23/2008, -2/+13Miyamoto's said that Twilight Princess will be the last of the current 3D style of Zelda games (ie "Z targeting" combat). Implied: waggle sword. The already-announced Motion+ accessory makes the Wii remote able to detect 1:1 sword-like movement, and will be released before any new Zelda game is released. He also said, during the development of Wind Waker, that Zelda 2 was more realistic-looking because it was more action-based, and that they try to make the aesthetic match the way the game plays. Also, in terms of story, the only back story bits of Zelda games that I can think of which HAVEN'T been made into games yet (like LttP's prologue becoming OoT and FSA's back story becoming TP) are flood preceding Wind Waker and the story of Gustav, which isn't to say they can't just make up a new story based on non-foreshadowed events.
- crypt, on 12/23/2008, -0/+9That's expected to appear on digg next week I heard
- geoman2k, on 12/23/2008, -1/+10my idea: mexican border town. make the main character a smuggler. one half of the map is rich and american, the other half is poor and mexican. that would be awesome
- mediaspree, on 12/23/2008, -0/+8I think you'll be done by 2010.
- mediaspree, on 12/23/2008, -1/+9Your ideas intruige me and I wish to subscribe to your newsletter.
- crumb28, on 12/23/2008, -0/+8For the first time I'm kind of indifferent to the thought of a new GTA.
- Weezergames, on 12/23/2008, -9/+17Let GTA V have all the stuff like San Andreas and more
- UselessTrivia, on 12/23/2008, -0/+7I also liked the property system, but it wouldn't have made much sense in GTAIV's plotline. Your character was ostensibly poor and doing these terrible things because it's all he knew and he had to make a living.
That said I kind of doubt we'll see a GTAV in 2010. You'll probably see something along the lines of a couple major expansions to GTAIV just like Vice City and San Andreas were essentially expansions to GTAIII. - steelclash84, on 12/23/2008, -2/+9Copy pasta? The problem was that the editor was sacked for voicing a negative opinion about a game that had advertising through Gamespot. How does adblock plus solve that?
Your comment is mindless. - ncnavguy, on 12/23/2008, -0/+7I think this analyst doesn't know too much about video games because its much more likely that Rockstar will release a GTA:(Insert city name here) rather than release a whole different iteration of the game with new engine and all.
- starf, on 12/23/2008, -1/+8They're going to add a boomerang to mario?
- dullnation, on 12/23/2008, -5/+11Oh wow...
Still no cure for cancer though.... - badqat, on 12/23/2008, -1/+7Jealous much?
Look at it this way...they get paid for...uh, ah...nothing! - daridave, on 12/23/2008, -0/+6I wouldn't mind if it was like Vice City. Buy buildings, feel powerful. That "the world is yours" theme if you know what I mean. GTA4 is great, but by the end I didn't feel like I owned the city -- which I guess isn't what they were aiming for anyway, but that's the coolest feeling when you complete a game -- to pretend like you rule it all... even if it's pointless and doesn't change a darn thing, cuz you're done with it. :P
- Carrot1991, on 12/23/2008, -1/+7Zelda 2 was by no means bad. It was just different. I also seem to remember it to be bloody hard, the game that seperated the men to the boys.
- o0joshua0o, on 12/23/2008, -1/+7"They basically get paid to guess and make stuff up"
It's scary how many professions fit that description.
See: theoretical physics, philosophy, marketing, consulting, finance, government, etc. - GlitchEnzo, on 12/23/2008, -2/+8God I hope not!
- homescrubb, on 12/23/2008, -1/+6buried for silly guesses
- Pulp, on 12/23/2008, -0/+5Meteorologists and weathermen are not necessarily the same thing.
- mwalker05, on 12/23/2008, -1/+6i was done before i even made it to the 2nd island
- bblande, on 12/23/2008, -3/+8I've visited GameSpot 4 or 5 times since they fired Gerstmann. That's compared to 4 or 5 times a week when he was there.
- SniperZero, on 12/23/2008, -0/+5I think japan or something completely different would be cool.
- Ragarnok, on 12/23/2008, -0/+5Simultaneous release with Counter Strike Source²?
Team fortress 3 following 2 years later? - seraph582, on 12/23/2008, -2/+7Protip: you gotta rescue the princess. Again. And there's a boomerang.
edit: same with the next mario installment... - Elranzer, on 12/23/2008, -0/+5When Zelda II came out, it was only the SECOND Zelda (duh!). That means, the "Zelda-style" gameplay wasn't established yet, as it only existed in one game (the original).
A Link to the Past pretty much sealed the series as a top-down action-RPG. - YancyFryJr, on 12/23/2008, -1/+5I found most of the gimmicky-type Wii stuff in Twilight Princess kind of annoying. Some stuff (like aiming with the bow) was really cool, but I hated flicking my wrist to attack and stuff like that.
I hope they put in more original gameplay that isn't rooted in the ***** "look, it can tell you're shaking the controller!!!" philosophy, like the sailing mechanic in Windwaker. - HyphySoul, on 12/23/2008, -2/+6lol who the hell is digging this?
- backslashdigg, on 12/23/2008, -0/+4I'd like to see Majora's Mask in the VC.
- CoD4, on 12/23/2008, -1/+5GTA in Africa

- mattyboy555, on 12/23/2008, -1/+5I never could get into GTA IV, I guess I wanted San Andreas 2, but designed for current gen consoles.
Some things in GTA IV that I missed.
1. Fun ways to melee fight, how come niko don't know any martial arts or some kind of military hand to hand combat, I was in some Akido classes and they teach you how to take people down quickly. I always wondered why in GTA IV you cannot use the knife to stealth kills sneaking behind someone.
2. customizing cars
3. taking over gangs areas
4. Buying real estate, not upgrading from crappy apartment A to not-so-crappy apartment B
5. Just doesn't feel fun to drive anything, cars feel to squirrely,
6. The Overall comedy factor about everything from the one liners, gangs, weapons, chainsaws, miniguns, etc.
To me, GTA IV seems like it wants to be in the realm of harsh gritty realism, but also sometimes move into the wacky fun land at the same time, and does not know where to be at any given time.
*deep breath*
That being said, BRING ON A NEW ZELDA WII GAME!! - CynicalTyler, on 12/23/2008, -0/+4Yes, back when I got my Bachelors of Science in Video Game Design and Cancer Cures, I had a tough decision on where to spend my life's work. Now that I've launched several successful Flash games, I think I made the right decision.
- silencerider151, on 12/23/2008, -0/+3Hopefully they'll make decent, enjoyable use of the MotionPlus attachment.
- gambl0r, on 12/23/2008, -0/+3Its coming for the 360... not for PS3 unfortunately :(
- inactive, on 12/23/2008, -0/+3lets hope the PC version isn't a trainwreck like IV
- Patareco, on 12/23/2008, -4/+7I'm looking forward to the next zelda! Hope they don't screw it!
- RomeLeader, on 12/23/2008, -0/+3Anybody can make stuff up. At least the analysts make up the facts and figures to make it seem justified.
Besides, you could argue that's what the weather people do. - mwalker05, on 12/23/2008, -1/+4zelda is definitely a holiday release title. there is no way zelda is coming november '09 when we havent seen a single screenshot or a title or even a hint at its existence. i would expect them to announce something at E3 or at their own show over the summer with a sexy trailer. likely with a november 2010 release date.
also its not going to be a GTA V. its going to be a GTA IV clone just like san andreas and vice city were with GTA 3. they need a little more time to flesh out their new sand box world and try again with a more polished experience. -
