- Scrappy1850, on 12/28/2007, -4/+159"While in stock" you could have put that in the title or description.
- SSYe, on 12/28/2007, -10/+105They sold 536,479,200 Wiis? wow.
- LightSpeed4, on 12/28/2007, -6/+63buried for misleading title
- vpshockwave, on 12/28/2007, -1/+54Anyone else come up with 536112000 and go wtf? =P
- NightVortez, on 12/28/2007, -1/+28A second.
- supermanred, on 12/28/2007, -4/+30Yes, that is a crucial fact.
- supermanred, on 12/28/2007, -2/+27Yeah, they left out the "while it was in stock" from the whole article pretty much.
- soil, on 12/28/2007, -3/+27glad to see I'm not the only one who used a calculator!
- likwidfuzion, on 12/28/2007, -3/+27That's what she said.
- notjustmii, on 12/28/2007, -3/+23They were never in stock so they wouldn't actually have to sell too many of them.
- inactive, on 12/28/2007, -4/+2317 every second in 2007 = 536,112,000 Wiis. Did Amazon sell that many? No. Therefore, buried as inaccurate. How much more sensationalist can a title get?
- letierri, on 12/28/2007, -3/+19"On its peak shipping day, the retailer shipped products internationally to more than 200 countries, moving more than 3.9 million shipments."
3.9 million parcels in one day... wow. Talk about major manpower. - joebone, on 12/28/2007, -2/+1760 seconds *

536,112,000.
Where did *your* calculation come from? :p - inactive, on 12/28/2007, -9/+24Unless you're > 10 years old.
- NathanielJ, on 12/28/2007, -0/+15For crying out loud, if you're going to be that much of a pedantic wad, at least be right. A year has 365.2422 days, not 365.25 days. A year is only a leap year if it's divisible by 4 and NOT divisible by 100, unless it's divisible by 400. So, for example, year 2000 was a leap year, but year 2100 will not be.
But that's all irrelevant anyways since this article was about 2007, which has 365 days, not 365.25 as the original commenter's genius would have us believe. - zKman, on 12/28/2007, -1/+13I'm sorry
- jmpeagle, on 12/28/2007, -0/+11too bad 2007 isn't over yet....need to subtract a few days
- TomFrost, on 12/28/2007, -1/+10That one man is you. The rest of us hear it every day :D
- Digg90210, on 12/28/2007, -0/+7ISO3166 lists 240 countries, in case anyone cares:
http://www.iso.org/iso/english_country_names_and_c ...
Wikipedia lists 245, but only 192 are members of the United Nations (fwiw).
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_countries
If you're in marketing, writing a press release, I'm sure you choose the broadest definition. - celkin, on 12/28/2007, -0/+7I was about to until I read your comment...
- JusJ3ff, on 12/28/2007, -3/+1017 per second, in what time frame?
- phike, on 12/28/2007, -0/+6I sold one Wii this year.....and i did it in .02 seconds.....I guess that means I sold more than Amazon.com did in 2007.
- ted_hosmann, on 12/28/2007, -3/+9"the retailer shipped products internationally to more than 200 countries..."
I thought there were only 194 countries? Too much bogus info. - inactive, on 12/28/2007, -2/+8It's also completely wrong.
- DAaaMan64, on 12/28/2007, -1/+7One man can only hope that she would say that.
- b0rna, on 12/28/2007, -0/+6welcome back from your coma...
- nickmonkey, on 12/28/2007, -1/+6If you look at the U.S. Wii tracking sites Amazon had them in stock about once a week for 5 to 10 minutes; assume 8 minutes on average. So 17 Wii/sec * 60 sec/1 min * 8 min / week * 52 weeks = 424,320 which seems far more in line with overall sales figures.
- nospinhere, on 12/28/2007, -2/+7The title said that Amazon sold 17 Wiis per second IN 2007. That is not the truth.
- xJudahx, on 12/28/2007, -6/+11That has nothing to do with this calculation. Thanks!
- bgraves20, on 12/28/2007, -0/+5I don't think he was purposely trying to mislead anyone. Just because a mistake was made doesn't mean it was intentional.
- staticneuron, on 12/28/2007, -2/+7When will people stop referring to games as killer apps. That is one annoying trend that piggybacked in on the xbox as it entered the industry. When is it ever "cool" or nedded to use some idiotic marketing catchphrase to talk about games? Man this generation of gamers are getting pathetic.
- AndrewDB, on 01/10/2008, -1/+6It makes me damn happy I got mine on launch day.
Now I'm waiting for May 10th.. I paid my copy of Brawl off tonight.. - Kevinok, on 12/28/2007, -2/+7Thank you for doing the math for me.
- Shawn4168, on 12/28/2007, -0/+4While you're waiting until May 10th to pick up your copy of Brawl, the rest of us will have played for 3 months already.
- shanal, on 12/28/2007, -0/+4February 10th.
- LucasVB, on 12/28/2007, -2/+6Bad math is baaad.
- AndrewDB, on 01/10/2008, -1/+5What's worse.. sitting around on your ass playing video games with friends, or sitting around on your ass on digg.
Careful not to let your mind explode while you contemplate this one.. it shouldn't be that difficult. - inactive, on 12/28/2007, -7/+11Here is what I don't get, Four20...The Wii is doing very well. So why the ***** do you have to purposely write a ***** title like that? You don't HAVE to make it look like it is doing better than it is, because it is doing well.
- BlueSkyfish, on 12/28/2007, -8/+12I got mine, and I love it. I've been playing almost nonstop since I picked up Super Mario Galaxy about a month ago. I've also been playing online a lot in Medal of Honor Heroes 2 and Guitar Hero 3.
It sucks that Brawl's been delayed. I kind of expected to be playing it by now. But I guess we'll just have to wait until February. - bgraves20, on 12/28/2007, -0/+4That's also what I don't get about Digger's. They pick out any and every little mistake made. Which, in an of itself isn't a bad thing. But, if you're going to depend on Digg and other new media for your information, then you're going to have to learn to look past minor mistakes that would otherwise have been taken care of in the editorial process. Anyone who actually RTFA knows what Four20 meant.
- Ajajadude, on 12/28/2007, -3/+7I was thinking 17 Wii's a second was a little too much....incomprehensible?
- Shawn4168, on 12/28/2007, -2/+5It doesn't matter. This calendar year is still only 365 days. Next year, when it actually is a leap year, you're not going to say there's 365.25 days in the year. You're going to say there's 366 days in the year.
- Wartz, on 12/28/2007, -0/+3whats wrong with doing a little math? maybe it would stir that rusted out thing you call a brain.
- thebaron2, on 12/28/2007, -2/+5The title makes it sound like Amazon sold 536 MILLION Wii's, though.
86,400 seconds/day, 36 days/year = 31,536,000 seconds/year. At 17 Wiis/second that's 536,112,000 Wiis. I'm sure that's not the case. - Fire4Effect, on 12/28/2007, -0/+3Wish Digg had a sub-category under Bury titled "mis-leading fanboy *****". I suppose "lame" will have to do.
- NathanielJ, on 12/28/2007, -1/+31. 500 million, not 5 billion.
2. We can read. We're commenting on the inaccurateness/misleadingness of the TITLE. - flair1, on 12/28/2007, -0/+2then you sold it for more than you paid unless you are an idiot. cry me a river big boy.
- Johnvanjim, on 12/28/2007, -0/+2One might argue that playing the Wii is the least like "sitting around on your ass" of all the game systems. Also, the math is wrong.
- KingGoonie, on 12/28/2007, -4/+6I love people like itsthebro...11 year olds who like to think there mad cool playing Halo, the most immature game of all time based on who I hear over my earpiece the few times I play it with my nephew....while saying games like smash and galaxy are kiddy because they don't have blood.
- woohhaa, on 12/28/2007, -0/+2I did.
