- rpgguy1o1, on 10/10/2007, -1/+62i don't remember being polled :
but i agree, playing smash bros without the trash talk isn't the same - mywhitenoise, on 10/10/2007, -7/+6798% of Wii owners?
That's such *****, i'm betting only about 15% of their owners even intend on playing online.
Wasn't there a poll around that something like less than 25% of PS3 owners know it has blu-ray (even though it launched with a blu-ray included)? I highly doubt the general population is even aware of Nintendo's online capabilities. - Okari, on 10/10/2007, -3/+52I must be in that 2% then. I don't even play online all that much, and when I do, I don't want to hear little kids saying, "***** you," all the time.
- inactive, on 10/10/2007, -5/+34I must be one of the 2% that doesn't want to hear 12 year olds screaming in the microphone.
- nymphetamine, on 10/10/2007, -2/+25Yea, it's just not the same without a 10 year old yelling, "dude your're fag" while your playing MySims.
- KingGoonie, on 10/10/2007, -2/+25To prove this b.s. percentage wrong, this should be a poll question on Everybody Votes Channel lol.
Don't get me wrong, a Mic would be great.. thats not what I'm arguing... i'm simply arguing that 98% nonsense. - djSyndrome, on 10/10/2007, -3/+23I hope the Xbox 720 and Wii 2 allow the use of a non-proprietary mic.
- KingGoonie, on 10/10/2007, -1/+19Agree.... guarantee if you asked wii owners if they even care about online not even 98% would say yes... Hell if you ask 360 owners, a system known for online, if they cared about online its doubtful 98% would say yes even in that case. . 98%... you have any idea how rare that is for anything!?!?!!? MADE UP PERCENTAGE!
- djSyndrome, on 10/10/2007, -2/+17Diluted with what? Water?
- feverjunk, on 10/10/2007, -2/+13I think 98% Wii owners want better games.
/takes getting buried like a man. - ontain, on 10/10/2007, -2/+12IGN readers. not Wii owners :P online polls mean squat.
- ausfahrt, on 10/10/2007, -0/+9wow how about any bluetooth mic for the ps3?
- mywhitenoise, on 10/10/2007, -2/+10hmm, no I think i'd rather pay $100 for a 160GB drive, than $100 for a 20GB drive.
bluetooth headsets are cheap. - KingGoonie, on 10/10/2007, -6/+14Actually I bought it because it has the best games of all 3 next gen systems... the innovative controller is just an awesome bonus.
- devate, on 10/10/2007, -1/+8Apparently miracles do happen....I find myself actually agreeing with something mywhitenoise said....
- uberphildo, on 10/10/2007, -1/+8What online capabilities? ;-)
- MaTT2011, on 10/10/2007, -2/+9I could seriously do WITHOUT interacting with the vast majority of gamers via voice chat, most PEOPLE are stupid to begin with....do you think the majority shifts all of a sudden simply because its gaming? HA!
- inactive, on 10/10/2007, -1/+8They come damn close to saying there will be no voice chat in Brawl: http://www.smashbros.com/en_us/gamemode/wi-fi/wi-fi01.html
"And even send short messages during brawls!
These short messages are entered in advance, and you send them by taunting. There are four messages for the four directions on the + Control Pad: Up, down, left and right." - mywhitenoise, on 10/10/2007, -2/+9"free is better than cheap"?
Isn't one of your biggest arguments is that you'd rather pay $50 for xbox live, than have a free PSN? - truspector, on 10/10/2007, -1/+7Chatting with friends online that you don't get to see very often sucks too.
- mywhitenoise, on 10/10/2007, -0/+6you're full of a *****. Do you mean the downloadable videos? Because that's not a demo.
- jhanson, on 10/10/2007, -2/+8I love my Wii, but I won't be playing online ever. I don't like playing games online. I like playing in a room full of people. Needless to say, I'm in the 2% (probably more like 82%) that don't care about online voice chat.
- DiGiLifeX, on 10/10/2007, -0/+6The only thing I don't understand is how come Metroid prime Hunters and Pokemon on DS have voice chat with online play. When it comes to wii we are stuck with short txt assigned to the D pad. Half the fun of Smash was laughing with the people I was playing with and hearing them scream as I hammer them off the Screen. Looks like my hopes of laughing it up with the rest of the world have been SMASHED! " at least its online right "
- MetalLizard, on 10/10/2007, -2/+8I can tell you why this feature will not be included. Nintendo does not want to be responsible for some asinine lawsuit following up because someone's special little child got harassed over a game. It is Nintendo, and sadly they will be a target more than the Sony or Microsoft if someone's special kid gets trash talked to. They can't just add have the developers add "Game experience may change while online", they will be sued, well because... they are Nintendo. Sad, but it's true.
- MaTT2011, on 10/10/2007, -0/+5I don't think "chatting it up" has anything to do with being part of the "hardcore" demographic.
Hardcore gamers concern themselves with PLAYING the games....thats the key part there. - imamessy1, on 10/10/2007, -0/+5It does say in big letter right before that this was according to a poll at IGN, a gaming site. With the Wii being considered a console that targets non-gamers and casual gamers, people who don't go on gaming websites and probably haven't the first idea about online gaming. It's a little skewed.
- watcht, on 10/10/2007, -2/+7Yea nothing beats a kid undergoing puberty calling you a *****...
- Renton, on 10/10/2007, -2/+6That would be cool if we could just connect the DS and Wii and use the DS's built in microphone.
- Destinatus, on 10/10/2007, -0/+4here's a better statistic: 100% of gamers wish for more wishes
- indiepenguins, on 10/10/2007, -1/+5I understand no voice in smash bros with random people, but you gotta be able to talk ***** to your friends!
- NikoKun, on 10/10/2007, -0/+4Think about that for a second...
How the hell are you gonna hold a DS... AND a Wiimote?
It would be far easier for Nintendo just to create a microphone attachment for the Wiimote. - dracflamloc, on 10/10/2007, -2/+6You all do realize that the 360 headset jack is the same jack that is on cell phones right? Go buy a cheap cell phone headset, plug into 360 controller and... SUCCESS!
- djSyndrome, on 10/10/2007, -1/+5If it's so 'free' then why doesn't it come with the Core unit?
- squison, on 10/10/2007, -0/+4And you don't even get THOSE when playing people who aren't on your friends list. Everyone else could be computer players for all we know.
- RainNIU, on 10/10/2007, -1/+4Are we surprised?
Poller: Hi Wii Owner, would you like voice chat?
Wi Owner: Sure, why not?
Why would someone say, "No, there's no way in hell I want voice chat!"? - qevlhma93, on 10/10/2007, -0/+3Yes because you actually believe that statistics depend on every single person voting.
The 98% thing is obviously made up, but they only need to poll around 1000 people to find out a close answer. (as long as they pick the right 1000 people)
So you not being part of the poll has no meaning whatsoever. - littlesquall, on 10/10/2007, -1/+4Nintendo really needs to get their online act together.
- spyrochaete, on 10/10/2007, -0/+3Many of the questions are really interesting, but more interesting are the statistics of male vs female and country vs country. I love the Everybody Poops channel.
- Azuroth, on 10/10/2007, -0/+3You know, they do take suggestions for questions on the Everybody Votes channel, we should all put that in as a suggestion.
"Should the Wii include voice chat in online games?" - evozero, on 10/10/2007, -7/+10The remaining 2 percent want a sequel to Cooking Mama Cookoff.
- Asianwaste, on 10/10/2007, -0/+3I'm sorry but what kind of a stupid question is "Do you want Voice chat?" That's like asking "Do you want free air conditioning?" or "Do you like cookies?".
- Supadude, on 10/10/2007, -1/+4Im a Wii owner and I dont want voice chat. 98% is *****.
- nonposter, on 10/10/2007, -4/+7I own a Wii. I don't want online voice chat.
- Bokista, on 10/10/2007, -0/+3And it's a percentage of IGN owners who actually care to vote. And the ones who are more inclined to vote are probably the ones that need to voice their opinion on not having it.
- mywhitenoise, on 10/10/2007, -2/+5the core doesnt come with those either.
If you're a smart shopper you can get a headset for $20 and an HDMI cable for $5. - robotsongs, on 10/10/2007, -2/+5Does anybody still use "Everybody Votes?"
I stopped checking when I realized that every question was a variant of "Which would you rather snuggle: Cat or Dog?" - TangentThought, on 10/10/2007, -0/+3Your math is bad. Try taking some basic math classes to realize that polls are often taken with a bigger pool of data than a lowly 44 comments.
- inactive, on 10/10/2007, -0/+3If you can't chat with your competitors, I don't even understand the point of online gaming. I thought the whole idea was for it to be social, but if you can't chat with people, you might as well be playing against bots.
- inactive, on 10/10/2007, -0/+2Why? Seriously, is there even a decent online game out yet? That's what you get in an inexpensive, "casual" console. Isn't that the market they want? Digg me down, but it's true.
- opnickc, on 10/10/2007, -0/+2There's a game called "Outside" I think you might be interested in. . .
