Any other diggers waiting for a sequel to The World Ends With You? - tadj, on 01/16/2009, -2/+26Dragon Quest and Kingdom Hears - three cheers for the SquareEnix love!!
- TheInimitable, on 01/16/2009, -0/+21TOP 1 REPLIES TO THIS QUESTION OF 2009
1. No. - MikeCI, on 01/16/2009, -1/+22Will somebody please please please make a good cyberpunk RPG for the DS.
- goldenhearted, on 01/16/2009, -0/+20I need my Ace Attorney fix. With how Justice For All, Trials and Tribulations and Apollo Justice all came out within a span of a year, I'm not used to this long wait for another Ace Attorney game.
Edgeworth FTW :D - inactive, on 01/16/2009, -0/+19We need a Pikmin DS game or F-Zero on the DS.
- AzzX, on 01/16/2009, -0/+15Have more fun with the DS than any other console. PC gamer at heart yet the DS just has it.
- SketchaMPM, on 01/16/2009, -0/+15The Mario & Luigi RPG series is brilliant, and often hilarious. I can't wait for the 3rd game!
- TheInimitable, on 01/16/2009, -0/+14Come on people, I'm trying to forget the new Phoenix Wright (slash Apollo Justice) game is based on Edgeworth...
It makes the wait easier. - Elranzer, on 01/16/2009, -0/+12Only the downloaded games are region-locked. DS Cards are region-free.
- Falldog, on 01/16/2009, -0/+12Infinite Space looks awesome.
Most people haven't even played 2008's best game, The World Ends With You. - Kazakaz, on 01/16/2009, -0/+11WTF? I finally get enough bells to pay off my house, and that damn Tom Nook upgraded it. Now I owe the bastard more money!
- Tonelico, on 01/16/2009, -0/+11some hints for you:
1) stop going to your local GameStop/EB/mall/wherever you go, and THEN...
2) buy from Amazon.com
Result? Being in "Southern" USA doesn't mean *****. This list isn't pretentious. The fact is that about 90% of the worthwhile software on the DS is coming from Japan. I'm not being a Japanophile; there's no question that the main consoles have great American developers. But on the DS, it's almost entirely Japanese games that are worth your time. - Elranzer, on 01/16/2009, -0/+93) They're not out yet.
- AndrewDB, on 01/16/2009, -1/+10Buy Clubhouse Games. I bought it when it came out two years ago and I've never taken it out of my DS.
Loads of card game and stuff to play in it. Quite fun. - muxaulo, on 01/16/2009, -0/+9In 2008 I really enjoyed FFIV and Chrono Trigger for the DS. Dragon Quest IX looks awesome and I Iook forward to it's release.
I hope the big N port more of the classic SNES role-playing games to the DS. - Falldog, on 01/16/2009, -0/+7The fashion thing is a mute point, mostly geared toward the Japanese and their obsession with changing styles. While you can put on different shirts, hats, shoes, etc. They never actually change how your character look. They just have different attributes and special abilities. It's akin to your average armor and weapon system from a standard RPG.
The story and the action element are probably what makes the game the most popular. I haven't played a with such game play elements so it was a fantastic break. The music is amazing too, better than a lot of big name console games. - newbis, on 01/16/2009, -0/+6Dugg for Perfect Prosecutor. I didn't know this game was going to come out, but now I can't wait for it. All of the Ace Attorney games were like playing a book.
- 1310nm, on 01/16/2009, -0/+6Tom Nook will put a horse head in your bed, MFer.
- iLEZ, on 01/16/2009, -0/+6Just of the top of my head with a little help from wikipedia: Deus Ex, the Fallout series, Beneath a steel sky, Flashback: The Quest for Identity, Hell: A Cyberpunk Thriller, System Shock 1&2, to some degree Bioshock, and to some degree the Metal Gear series, even though they aren't really rpgs..
- petebot, on 01/16/2009, -0/+5I know you were being sarcastic, but it is pretty wonderful. The DS is kind of perfect for RPGs and its the only reason I'm glad I still have it.
- inactive, on 01/16/2009, -0/+5How many cyberpunk rpg's are there period?
- avianeddy, on 02/17/2009, -0/+5wa wa wa WAU!!!
Dragon Quest 9? Mario RPG?
FRONT MISSION??!!
Nintendo's BACK!!! - FURIOUSgeorge24, on 01/16/2009, -0/+5Where the hell is Scribblenauts? That is shaping up to be one of the most innovative titles coming out on any system so far.
- phbohn2, on 01/16/2009, -0/+5the DS loves RPGs
- Dead666, on 01/16/2009, -2/+7These games sound very interesting.
But the DSi is a piece of *****. With a region lock I couldn't play most of my games, I couldn't play my GBA Games anymore, or use GBA slot features.
And the majority of "enhancements" are totally useless. Why would I want to take pictures or record things with it, its a ***** gaming console. I would buy a DSlite again if mine breaks. - kevinmoore, on 06/13/2009, -0/+5I hate that ***** coon.
- inactive, on 01/16/2009, -0/+5Do you know what upcoming means? Do you realize that this is the year 2009?
- libertao, on 01/16/2009, -1/+6Hope you like RPGs!
- ausoff2, on 01/16/2009, -4/+9"if you like RPGs, get a DS."
Ugh. A year of RPGs. Wonderful. - Divals, on 01/16/2009, -0/+4What, no Ys books 1 and 2? Shame, random list.
- Tonelico, on 01/16/2009, -0/+4HURRAY!
If you check dsfanboy.com or rpgfan.com, you'll also discover that Square Enix just announced a remake to SaGa 2 (Final Fantasy Legend II), from the old black-and-white Game Boy to DS, now with cel-shaded graphics. I was getting tired of the remakes, but only because they were remaking games that had already been remade like four times. This one, however, hasn't gotten attention since its debut in the early '90s.
THUS, that's one big one to look forward to. I'm also pumped about DQV, VI, and IX. :) - Elranzer, on 01/16/2009, -0/+4They were ported by Square Enix. They know that's where the money is, so you can expect more port/remakes in the future.
- Arramol, on 01/16/2009, -0/+4Honest question: what makes this one so popular? I've been looking for more good DS RPGs, but the whole style/fashion thing in TWEWY has had me thinking it's not my type of game, so I haven't bought it yet. The sheer volume of fans it has makes me second-guess my judgment on that though.
And yes, Infinite Space sounds like something I want right now. - erasermcfleafly, on 01/16/2009, -0/+4HIP HIP!!!
- Slayerdude51982, on 01/16/2009, -0/+4can't wait for KH 365/2, sure it's just another filler game but looks descent.
- estat, on 01/16/2009, -0/+4A new, 2D METROID would be nice
- Tonelico, on 01/16/2009, -0/+4it's 358/2. I am still trying to figure out the stupidly-esoteric significance of taking the entire year (minus one week) and then dividing it by two.
If it's based on Roxas, my thought is this: the beginning of KH2 you play as Roxas for one week. What about the rest of the year prior? And for the "half," you only play during the daytime?
idk...that game looks weird. - SteveMax, on 01/16/2009, -1/+5Why would someone buy an R4 in this day and age? It was great at its time, but it's dead. The CycloDS, Supercard and Acekard teams (among others) are the ones that keep up nowadays.
- YouRookies, on 01/16/2009, -0/+4Please, JRPG's are unique. I don't understand how kids nowadays can play the same WW2 and Alien shooters every year. Play one shooter and you've played them all.
- LOGNATR, on 01/16/2009, -0/+4Nice list. I'd also add Dragon Quest V and the new Valkyrie Profile game.
- cdsfire, on 01/16/2009, -0/+4I am also a PC, Wii, and DS gamer and am constantly looking for more DS games. Care to share your list of favs?
- Darkangel754, on 01/16/2009, -0/+3Fallout isn't Cyber-Punk, it's retro futuristic. Cyber-Punk is more like augmentations and spaceships and stuff.
- jerrycan, on 01/16/2009, -0/+3Ah phantasy star. How I miss thee, endless treadmill....
- miralize, on 01/16/2009, -0/+3give it to your momma. (sorry)
- jfujita, on 01/17/2009, -0/+3I've been playing the Japanese release of Rhythm Heaven and I think its one of the best games ever released on the DS. Everyone should pick this one up.
- bruins72, on 01/16/2009, -1/+4The only one of these that really looked interesting to me was the GTA game. The rest all seem to be Japanese anime stuff.
- heavystone, on 01/16/2009, -0/+3Advance Wars is pretty damn good.
- GIJosh, on 01/16/2009, -0/+3The World Ends With You was my game of the year. I'm not even an rpg fan, but I got more out of that game than any other game all year. It was sad it got so little love.
- Falldog, on 01/16/2009, -0/+3Sorry for the double post, but what are the chances even half of the Japanese released will be translated and released in the US in a timely fashion?
