- apothekari, on 08/15/2008, -21/+139Take the whole list...and realize.
1.No solution for the storage issue.{Only the CORE Nintendo fan truly realizes how much this sucks,I ran out of space MONTHS ago}
2.What exactly is the Nintendo fan supposed to be excited about this Christmas.{release after release after release of ***** "tie-ins" and mini games and sequels to stuff that sucked the first time around and so much "Romper Room" ***** you want to put on a Diaper}
3.You have 2 Star Wars games coming out for the Wii and Nintendo didn't show them M+ so it will NOT be utilized and Lucas Arts are now laying off people left and right.Odds are that awesome Lightsaber game will never ever be.
4.Conduit STILL doesn't have a publisher
5.If being the number one console way ahead of 360/PS3 hasn't spurred the 3rd parties to NOT treat the Wii like a red-headed step child wtf will?
So no I'm still not convinced.
If Nintendo would get OFF their ass and answer the goddamn storage problem at the very least it would go a loooooong way towards lifting my hopes for the Wii But, the longer they wait the more nervous I get that something is seriously wrong with the systems design.
At the moment the Homebrew scene is the single bright spot the Wii has and it's just a matter of time before Nintendo makes me choose between it and themselves via a mandatory update. - inactive, on 08/16/2008, -12/+100Staying loyal to any company is pathetic beyond reasoning. They're in it for the profit, and as Nintendo has shown, they don't give a rat's ass about you little nerdy fanboys.
- MCA2142, on 08/16/2008, -14/+89in short:
1. Miyamoto
2. Miyamoto
3. Woman's face looks like a Wallace and Gromit character
4. Miyamoto
5. Miyamoto
I'm not keeping it for these poor reasons. - openaddy, on 08/16/2008, -3/+67I'm not a hardcore gamer, and the Wii is the first console I've ever owned mainly due to the idea of the motion control. I've been pretty happy with the Wii until I noticed recently that I've been playing Mario Kart for months, and I'm not really sure what the next "good" game for me might be. I look around the store, and I see a bunch of shovel ware and games designed for 7-year olds. So I guess I'm feeling kind of... blah right now, waiting for some interesting new game to show up.
And even though I'm not a hardcore gamer, I still find Nintendo's online rather pathetic. - MrHappyMan, on 08/16/2008, -6/+59http://www.vgcats.com/comics/
Sounds about right. - effoffpunk, on 08/16/2008, -18/+67I sold my wii, used, for more than I paid for it. I can't even think of a wii game I'm looking forward to. Its a disappointment, really. What happened Nintendo? Do you really think my girlfriend and my mom will want to play your console for years to come? I'VE PUT TIME IN TO YOU, GOD DAMNIT. I WAS A SEVEN YEAR OLD ZELDA ADDICT. I HAD PROBLEMS. LOOK WHAT YOUVE DONE. LOOK WHAT YOUVE DONE.
- finn, on 08/16/2008, -4/+43'console loyalism' should be abandoned. People need to stop being so specifically FOR just one company and anti-others; the point of the industry is to have fun right? The focus should be the games and not the platform they're on. Some games are going to be better for other consoles of course, and the Nintendo systems have their strengths for certain types of games just as the XBox360 is better for other certain types, and the PS3 has its best, and so-on (title exclusivity has its part too of course).
My systems are a Xbox360, a PS2 (not bothering with the ps3 for budget reasons, and not enough games on it to even think about), and I used to have a Wii, but sold it a while back because at the time there were just not enough games to make it worthwhile for me (don't get me wrong, it DID have its games, but one or two just did not warrant owning the system for). I also have the DS(lite).
Anyway, back to my point: stop being fanboys to specific companies and just broaden your mind to accept all 3 as legitimate game systems each due their respect. - then00b, on 08/16/2008, -3/+40Wow they REALLY had to stretch to come up with this list. Cammie? Really?
Yeah not so much. - mywhitenoise, on 08/16/2008, -0/+37Also, who gives a ***** about Reggie and Cammie? They're ***** PR, nothing more.
- M724, on 08/16/2008, -18/+53The Wii is dead to me.
- facelesscoward, on 08/16/2008, -3/+37The only reason you should ever need not to:
1. It's a ***** company. Get a life. - jakatak, on 08/16/2008, -14/+46The Wii isn't for digg users. The digg demographic is males 15 - 30. They don't want to get fit or play mario cart. What you don't realize is that grandma is now standing in line for the Wii and so is little johnny, because little johnny isn't allowed to blow the head off of a terrorist and watch him go into bloody convulsions.
Yes. There is a huge market for the Wii. In fact, it's a totally new group of people. let them have their Wii. This way we can play the PS3 and not share. - haterofps3, on 08/16/2008, -2/+30As a consumer I find this article to be entirely RETARDED, the assumption of brand loyalty makes me ill. I will go where the content that interests me is and not where some blog assumes the interesting content will be.
- cck2142, on 08/15/2008, -22/+46Thanks. I needed that. **still selling my wii**
- Valyn, on 08/16/2008, -4/+23If these are the 10 reasons to stay with Nintendo, then i might as well throw my Wii away.
- Darkangel754, on 08/16/2008, -0/+18The Conduit developers have said that they have had many offers from publishers but want to make sure they have the game done before choosing because they don't want to have any restrictions/a rushed release. They even said that that one publisher told them to finish it as quick as possible so they can "crap" it out for a Christmas release!
- Krlll, on 08/16/2008, -1/+17Too true.
Brand loyalty is for mindless or perhaps programmed idiots. - opnickc, on 08/16/2008, -2/+16Just to add to your list
Excite Truck - insanely underrated, best arcade-style racer out there (on ANY system)
Geometry Wars Galaxies - it's Geometry Wars, the best game on the 360, but more
Trauma Center - virtual surgery, try doing that on a gamepad
Resident Evil: UC
Zack and Wiki
Zelda TP
Metroid Prime 3 - Best use of motion controls in a full-length game. It really is awesome to play.
Mario Galaxy - If someone disses this game, they did not play it
Smash Bros
Mario Kart
Between Whackly and I, that's 14 must-play games. I certainly can't name that many on my 360, and while I don't own a PS3, I can't think of many on there either.
No good games my ass. - Arasaka, on 08/16/2008, -4/+17So the main reason to stay loyal... is hope that it will start sucking less. Solid stuff.
- inactive, on 08/16/2008, -10/+23In the world of Digg:
The Wii is a godawful piece of hellspawned *****. The X-Box 360 is made of Chocolate and Gold.
The National Gallery of Art has thrown out all their dead-old-man scratchings. They have been replaced with XKCD digital prints.
John Mccain Is dead, buried under the rubble of a bombed Fox News HQ. Barack Obama is KING OF AMERICA!!
Take me to your magical world diggers! - Zombi, on 08/16/2008, -1/+13#10 is an awful reason to stay loyal to Nintendo. She was so annoying at E3.
- Greyscale88, on 08/16/2008, -9/+21Is everyone forgetting the DS? Here's 5 reasons to still stay loyal to Ninetendo's lovely handheld system.
1. The
2. World
3. Ends
4. With
5. You - HorseloverFat8, on 08/16/2008, -4/+16That's not how to use grammar...
- TVarmy, on 08/16/2008, -0/+11The Nintendo Wii is pretty far hacked. Make your own fun. It now has a DVD player, emulators for every major 16 bit and earlier system, plus the GBA and SCUMMVM. Seriously, check out WiiBrew.org. You don't know what you're missing. And no, it won't get you booted off of Nintendo's fabulous online games or brick your Wii.
- aftern9ne, on 08/16/2008, -6/+17This is funny. Four of these are about the people who work for Nintendo, two talk about how much potential there is, and one is about how easy it is to forget about the good games.
Spin, spin, spin, Nintendo fans. If this were Sony or Microsoft these ***** excuses wouldn't fool anybody. - Whackly, on 08/16/2008, -2/+12I think the article had an excellent point about people completely overlooking the fact that there are some really kickass games for the system. Boom Blox, No More Heroes, Resident Evil 4 Wii Edition, Battalion Wars 2. Those are just the ones I own. There are others. If you can't find a game to play for the Wii you aren't trying very hard.
- Coffeedemon, on 08/16/2008, -2/+12DS isn't the problem. Even though it has a ***** of minigames and fluff it also has its fair share of games to appeal to the other demographics. The Wii development shows very little sign of catering to both.
Like the first poster up top I figured that with umpteen million consoles sold there would be enough development dollars allocated for *everyone* to get some games they enjoy. - ursername180, on 08/16/2008, -2/+12Well I've been staying loyal to Sonic for years and years...
Hasn't paid off yet. - Whackly, on 08/16/2008, -2/+11Phendrana,
I think that's because "hardcore" is a convoluted and meaningless term. Games should be challenging, fun, and hopefully fresh/innovative. Apparently all a game needs to be hardcore is some headshots, blood, *****, a ***** here and a ***** there and BAM... HARDCORE. Battallion Wars 2 is a seriously kickass game. No blood though so it's obviously not hardcore. Meanwhile, yet another dead simple FPS that's the same as everything before it is ***** slappingly hardcore and sends low IQ adults and underdeveloped teens into paroxysms of uterine style hysterics. Everytime I see the phrase "Hardcore gamers" my mind instantly replaces it with "Gamers who are fascinated by explosions and aren't very good at spelling." ***** the hardcore mold. If you people want to play games to pleasure the same part of your brain that tingles when you touch your penis then buy an xbox 360 or a ps3 and shut up about the wii. If you want to play good games regardless of whether they are bloody or controversial then a wii is a good addition to your arsenal. -end soapbox
opnickc,
Yes! I forgot to mention SMG! I don't consider Mario Kart and Excite Truck to be really great games, though. I have them both and they are a lot of fun, no question. They are especially fun to play with the family. They lack, however, the sort of depth that makes me want to play them when I'm alone. - Coffeedemon, on 08/16/2008, -0/+9*Individual results may vary
- cbartlett, on 08/16/2008, -2/+11The next killer game for me is Harvest Moon but every time I look it gets delayed another month.
- apothekari, on 08/16/2008, -0/+9That's good to know.
I really like what they've shown so far.
So that's something I guess. - Owwmykneecap, on 08/16/2008, -0/+8Maki Maki please stop spamming every bit of ***** off games radar.
also being loyal to a company is retarded - norman619, on 08/16/2008, -4/+12The title is inaccurate. It should read "10 Reasons To Stay A Nintendo Fanboy."
- mathcreative, on 08/16/2008, -1/+9Both of you are looking at the situation in the wrong direction. The reason why so many gamers like nintendo is because people like Miyamoto put their spirit into their games. In form of deep story lines(not always), music, artistic graphics(think zelda).Nintendo puts a theme in their games, and they do better then anyone else in the industry, when you play you feel like your actually fighting for something. That's not something that comes from most of the number crunching developers out their.
- Phendrana, on 08/16/2008, -0/+8When people say there are "no good games" what they mean to say is "no games that interest me." There are plenty of great games on the Wii, but unfortunately not many of them fit into the traditional "hardcore" mold.
- inactive, on 08/16/2008, -4/+12I took pictures of mine to put on ebay last week. I bought it on launch day for twilight princess, and in my opinion that was the last good game for the system. I plan on using the money to buy a ps3 and little big planet, and suprisingly I could actually have some money left over.
- doshindude, on 08/16/2008, -4/+11Nobody
Cares
We're
Talking
About
The
Wii. - nobelief, on 08/16/2008, -11/+18Is this a joke? Those are horrible reasons. Even the examples of good games were crap except for a couple of games.
***** Nintendo. They got too greedy this generation. - Katana314, on 08/16/2008, -0/+6Everyone's gonna agree with you, but then we're all loving Valve to death for no reason. I wonder what would happen if they suddenly turned to the dark side.
- josh1413, on 08/15/2008, -11/+17Ha, I've done sold mine.
- ZephyrNinety, on 08/16/2008, -6/+12STILL no online support. There's a handful of games that even have the internet as a second-thought but nothing to compare to Xbox Live or PS Network. Sad.
- uthallan, on 08/16/2008, -3/+8Dugg for "bloody convulsions".
- mywhitenoise, on 08/16/2008, -7/+12Sold mine last Sunday for $425 (it was modified, and had extra controllers). You probably wont lose any money if you sell it now.
- Katana314, on 08/16/2008, -0/+5OBJECTION.
Wrong game, greyscale. - TrentSteel590, on 08/16/2008, -1/+6I think someone needs a hug.
- JustinHopewell, on 08/16/2008, -1/+6Valve has an excellent track record of creating great games, and they have a great online store with lots of affordable on-demand gaming within Steam.
- apothekari, on 08/16/2008, -0/+5I would also like to add.
WTF is going on with the browser all the flash sites are upgrading and now none of the vids will play. The hold up was that Adobe hadn't released it to other than windows/mac but they finally did that almost 2 months ago.
Also I really dug the News Channel and others but it just seems like Nintendo has ***** shut down R&D on the Channel front because they know how little space they have and realize that for something to come something must go. - JollyDumple, on 08/16/2008, -2/+6Sounds like a kinda cool game, but the terrible art and character design has kept me away from it.
- carpespasm, on 08/16/2008, -1/+5The problem is that Nintendo doesn't just have a weak E3 lineup, it's that they show little to no regard to their bread and butter demographic, people who spend a signifigant amount of their disposable income on video games. While the Wii's got some great games, the VC lets older gamers relive the olden days, and there are a couple good games coming out before year's end, Nintendo has shown that they're pushing more and more toward the "casual" gamer and leaving those who enjoy playing more often than when their grandkids come over to either wait 5-7 months between polished and well thought out games or jump ship to a console which has actual gamers in mind.
It sucks, because the Wii really has a lot of potential and if Nintendo would pull out the stops (storage space and online seamlessness being the biggest problems ATM) they've got enough units in the wild to make it totally worth developing for, but as it stands it looks like they're much happier to just let console sales and mini games rake in money while they lose the gamers and fans who've kept them going in harder times. Do they suppose that the fickle casual gamer market will keep then running once they get bored and flood the market with used Wii systems some time next year? Do they think that the gamers who've traded their Wii for another system would be quick to turn back without a serious reason to do so? I'll keep my Wii, but it doesn't get much play anymore. I wish it did. -
