I once worked in an e-commerce company, and during our marketing brainstorming sessions using the "Five Forces" technique, the mobile platform has been identified as a "Threat."
It would be nice to hear elaborated comments on that or 'the Five Forces'.
Mobile is a threat to making money because folks get info on others for Free or because they can't fit enough Adverts on the Screen ?
Well just in brief (albeit I know this can be more elaborated), most e-commerce companies back then have invested money and human resource (technology included) trying to make up the best sites on the Net that would generate profit. They came up with the best designs that sure were catchy on the desktop platform.
Come the mobile environment, e-commerce experts are now fearing that the technology and design they used can be obsolete sooner than expected.
Another thing is that mobile display is so less in size that banner ads cannot be optimized as compared to desktops displays.
