Sad.

...and Ta-Dah! This is why governments hate drugs - highly lucrative, low initial investment, and VERY destructive outcomes.

No drugs only do those things because there is a prohibition against them. Ex: compare alcohol related violence during its prohibition vs now (mafia, bath tub posion, tommy guns, Al capone, etc). Once it was legalized and regulated the bad guys could no longer compete. Same thing would happen with legalizing marijuana (which is less toxic and more beneficial than alcohol). The gangs would not be able to effectively compete with the legal growers and would no longer have that major source of revenue to fight with.

And you can imagine what society would be like if you could stroll on down to Drugs R' Us and pick up your baggies of heroin, crack, coke, etc.
I think you're missing the big picture; you don't come across alcoholics slurring "its my right as an American to get drunk"; just because you have the right to get drunk, doesn't mean its a good idea. Government TRIES to keep drugs illegal/taboo because its corruption of youth, they don't make policies will-nilly to ruin your good-times; I used to dabble in lots of things - hallucinogens, stims, pot, ecstasy, etc... I still maintained solid 3.x GPA in HS and college, but its all for naught, it didn't do anything; you spend your time and money, and nothing comes of it, other than the mental/physical addiction to acquire more of that little substance that made you happy. Alcohol, drugs, sex addiction... all works the same way.

@Goweigus:
Exactly. Because of the prohibition IMO, cartels/dealers become rich quickly from being parasites. This makes them extremely dangerous. I don't believe in legalizing all drugs, but marijuana is a no-brainer. We pay for minor drug offenders' upkeep in prison & we pay dearly. Some people are doing years for minor offenses.
@Waj5001 You don't comprehend the dangers of alcoholism compared to drug addictioin IMO. If someone goes to detox as a heroin addict in the middle of the night, they'll tell that person to come back during normal hours because it's not life threatening. An alcoholic can be admitted anytime 24/7 because you can die from alcohol withdrawal. It is not uncommon if not supervised.

Thanks goes directly to Tricky Dick, Nancy Regan, and the rest of the prohibitionists douche bags who created a war on American's freedoms.
Even school children know by now that legal sanctions against marijuana fuel a worldwide black market and pour money into gangs and criminal organizations.
Fvck prohibition and the assh**es who created the idea...
