Chain saws can be dangerous. I try to make sure I have good footing when using one. That can be tough to do when you are climbing around a felled tree. Dropping a fifty footer is a little scary also, especially one that is hard to tell which way it's leaning. I see people getting in a big hurry cutting wood. No thanks. It's like getting in a hurry using a circle saw or something. I take my time and watch the blade.
I'm glad you understand the dangers of chainsaws, and take your time when operating them. Hopefully you use all the proper safety equipment, and you've taken the time to thoroughly read, and understand the operating manual with all of it's precautions.
I don't even know where my manual is right now. It's basically common sense anyway. It's like all the warning signs on the top steps of ladders. Someone's going to do that anyway, but they have to put them there to keep from getting so many law suits. I've been using a chain saw for over 30 years and they still scare the crud out of me, which is healthy.
My dad had a chainsaw skip off of the log and hit his leg. I watched it. It was a split second, no time to react. I'm sure the poor guy didn't see it coming
I have a friend who was cutting a tree with a chainsaw and the tree jammed his hand between it and the chainsaw chain and he didn't lose his fingers because the chainsaw cut them off, the chain was so hot that it literally singed them off. I couldn't imagine the amount of pain that he suffered.
That is tragic. You have to be careful when using powerful equipment. I learned that an easy way. I was driving a tractor, and without knowing it, a thick tree branch slapped me on the shoulder and a little on my neck. Had it been an inch or two higher, I would have been knocked unconscious and who knows what would have happened.
That was my personal wake up call from powerful equipment. I wasn't wearing a helmet or hard hat or anything like that either.

That one only applies if the contestant has not yet procreated and thus is unable to pass on the stupid gene.
