yet unfortunately the f**king media won't cover it because its not a dramatic as the tsumani's.
kanockAug 10, 2010
*US media
Other countries have real news agencies instead of propoganda machines.
sanmanAug 10, 2010
how was the tsumani (sic) more dramatic?
was it because of Robin Williams and the elephants?
dahatecatalystAug 10, 2010
Yet we still have Sean Penn livign in Haiti. Where are ya Sean?!
naieveAug 10, 2010
Well to be fair to western media, the flooding is taking place in areas controlled by the Taliban, who execute journalists and foreign aid workers.
nobody98Aug 10, 2010
No it's not you idiot.
enterenceAug 16, 2010
Naieve, you are wrong ... the entire country is controlled by the ISI (their secret service) who calls the shots....
Its a terrorist country that gets by blackmailing the world...
Its Karma... its a bitch and it aint pretty...
Nobody... if you are so concerned what are you doing in England.... go to Pakistan and help your brothers... me and an Indfidel like my head on where it is... not going to risk it by wanting to go to a place filled with hate towards all infidels...
Its funny how Infidels are so hated, yet when Karma wakes up and does its jobs, we are some how expected to be kind and merciful and do the right thing by helping the very people who want the end of us....

The U.S has been giving them millions of dollars. They're fine. I'm sure they'll use some of that money for recovery effort.
Oh, wait...
cdnphotoAug 10, 2010
So, here is a really great chance for the US to change the perception in that part of the world. Right now, the people of that area look at the US as the big evil empire out to kill all Muslims. If the US comes in, like they did in Haiti, and provide aid and shelter to those who have been totally devastated, hopefully it will open some eyes to show that the US and the west in general are not out to kill them. Yes, I know it's an idealist point of view, but I'm hoping that done the right way, it could be a major PR win for the US.
sanmanAug 10, 2010
waitasec, didn't the US help hugely during the 2005 earthquake, providing helicopters, field surgeons, food, shelters, and financial aid in a massive relief effort?
seems like they forgot about that real quick, and went back to calling the US the Great Satan. I don't think you even have the brains to remember that yourself.
how come Muslims are supposed to be the one ethnic group deserving the world's constant attention and care?
what, like everybody is supposed to be in orbit around them?
why doesn't Pakistan stop spending disproportionately on its military, and build more infrastructure in their country?
their stats for military spending are the worst
hardeep1singhAug 10, 2010
No use trying to build relationships with Pak, they forget it pretty quick and stab you in the back. That's what has happened to India every single time they tried to be nice.
bemenakerAug 10, 2010
See how much the Taliban helps those people versus us. Now would be the time to step up and make a massive PR move
hardeep1singhAug 10, 2010
But they spent all that money on Guns, Bombs and Terrorist training camps.
enterenceAug 10, 2010
exactly... im sick of my Government giving "AID" to Pakistan... all that AiD money goes into funding the Taliban and setting up terrorist to attack India... and lets not forget the corrupt politicians...
I hear Zadari has a Chateau in Normandy, France... WTF ???? Sell the Chateau and take care of your people man....
Lets them use the billions they already receive for this natural calamity....
And in any case they are going to turn around and blame this on India, USA and the Israel....

spartakipAug 10, 2010
monsoons are just mother nature's way of douching.
hardeep1singhAug 10, 2010
Not douching, more of a balancing act. You train terrorists and kill hundreds abroad and boom nature balances it back home.
zeibenAug 10, 2010
I'm sure if a mom who's burying her kids read your comment, something like the word "douche" would come to mind....

uknowimrightAug 10, 2010
if it is really monsoon then they should ve prepared it better. I live in Jakarta, a city that is hit by flood every 3-4 years. and what we did? we build dams, better sewage, pumps, drainage, etc and the last BIG flood we had is like in 2000. Forgive my ignorance but I dont think Pakistan gives a thought about flood beforehand

naieveAug 10, 2010
Many of these people are in areas controlled by the Taliban. The same Taliban who just executed 10 aid workers.
So, who is going to lead the invasion necessary to bring these people aid? Because sending them into the SWAT Valley and other frontier provinces without a Division of infantry is f**king suicide. Not even the Pakistani Government goes out there.
If there is a God as they say, perhaps they should take a f**king hint from the non-stop natural catastrophes killing them.Comment is buried, click here to see the rest.

Might surprise you to learn that natural disasters don't give a f**k about people's politics or religion. They kill and displace indiscriminately.
naieveAug 10, 2010
I agree entirely.
But the Taliban has spent the last decade hunting and killing aid workers and reporters.
Are you surprised that there isn't a f**king stampede to go out there without a weapon into an area where the country that owns the land won't f**king go because their military gets its ass kicked by the Taliban?
gerardcornieljeAug 10, 2010Submitter
Naieve, that is the most ridiculous thing I have ever heard...people are people and nature is not out to punish anybody...
naieveAug 10, 2010
Really? I've heard quite a few people, Muslim and Christian, say that s**t was the will of God, or Allah if you prefer.
What, the Taliban can't have Allah deliver food and water?
Maybe they shouldn't have spent so long trying to kill the people who go to disaster areas to distribute such things.Comment is buried, click here to see the rest.

naieveAug 10, 2010

You do understand these people have been supporting a group that has spent the last few decades slaughtering people? Cutting off hands, fingers, ears, arms, and various other body parts for anything the Taliban decided they didn't like.
Sorry, I feel for the people, I really do, but they should have placed their faith in the Pakistani Government instead of the Taliban.
They now live in a war zone, which now happens to be a disaster area as well.Comment is buried, click here to see the rest.

230,000 people died during the tsunami -- 1600 in the Pakistani floods. The floods are still a tragedy but calling it a "worse" disaster is very sensationalistic.
Closed AccountAug 10, 2010
the tittle means:
-14 million people have been affected by monsoon flooding-
14 million people now live in way that you can't call it a living, they even doesn't have enough food to eat even once day.

The comparison is in terms of people directly affected.
Having lived through a tiny flood that destroyed part of our home, I empathize with them. It is a helpless feeling and I think many are much worse off than we were. Very very sad.

Lots of very rich Muslim countries just to the west of Pakistan... now they'll find out how much their muslim brothers really care about them. (Hint: Not much at all).
Seriously, Pakistan have been a bunch of assh**es for a long time now, assh**e to the US, assh**es to India... pretty much assh**es to everyone, not mention their international reputation of being lower than shark s**t and willing to sell their mother at an auction if there was a dollar in it... and along comes a natural disaster and all that's just supposed to be forgotten.
Still, it would be very Christian of the US to leap to their aid, all things considered.
enterenceAug 10, 2010
yea and they will then turn around and blame the US, Israel and India for this Natural Disaster....
And the Mullahs will say its Gods punishment for not blowing up more Non Believers.... and they will even believe that and set out to terrorize the world alot more....
realcoolguy9022Aug 10, 2010
Well Islam does have a tradition of not helping out during natural disasters attributing it to the will of Allah for punishing non-believers. I know this is true of earthquakes and droughts. Floods? I don't know for certain but I would imagine it falls under the same heading.

enterence the hate is on both sides. Look at what is happening in Kashmir for instance. Although India would like to blame Pakistan for it, it is the regular Kashmiris who do it.
In other cities in India, it is an insult to call somebody a muslim or pakistani, more like a derogatory term. Really, you have no idea what you are talking about

Unfortunate but these natural events are a part of life.
From one angle it's good that this happened in Pakistan.
jy11Aug 10, 2010
It's not just Pakistan though. The East is getting rocked by natural disasters. Russia is on fire, China has been hit with devastating floods and mudslides, and Central Europe has finally beginning to recover from its floods. CNN did a report on all the disasters, it's crazy what some bad weather can do: http://www.frequency.com/video/weather/197879
kingmanicAug 10, 2010
The area affected contains many strong Taliban supporters. The Taliban draws troops, supplies, and shelter from this region. Pakistan is sick of most of these people. Remember every dollar in AID you send here will more or less directly fund the Taliban war effort. Bury me if you like but this disaster likely benefits the NATO war effort in Afghanistan immensely.
ubitendoAug 10, 2010
Why are there dumbasses who are happy about this natural disaster? Hell, some people even think mother nature did this on purpose to kill terrorists...goddamn people are f**king stupid.
twobluedayAug 10, 2010
So, on the tragedy scale, 14,000,000 people being inconvenienced (understatement intended) is bigger than 250,000 dead (tsunami).
Sounds like a hyperbolic attempt at wheedling money out of the cash-strapped nations of the world to me. If I were running the US, I wouldn't borrow (it would have to be borrowed--seeing as we are broke) a penny to help Pakistan.

ironlungAug 15, 2010
It is shameful to see all that sarcasm and hate directed towards ordinary pakistanis. Disgusting. It is not the ordinary peoples fault. Those people have been abused by no fault of their own. Let me correct some historical facts for you.
Most pakistanis feel that they are in part of a war that is not of their own creating. It isn't. Although some of these problems can be dated back to the 1800s- such as creation of the feudal system by the British (that screws ordinary Pakistanis) but lets stick to the 1980s. Pakistanis had no intentions of getting involved with the cold war. The 1980s Afghan war was won mostly because of them and they didn't even want part of it then. Pakistan was inundated with over 2 million Aghan refugees that caused nothing but problems. But they were promised help by the American government for fighting this war for them so they continued. These terrorists, or mujahideen as they were called back in the 1980s were created by the CIA to help fight the Russians by the way. Again, not a Pakistani creation. So when the war was won, which played a huge part in ending the cold war, everybody abandoned them. Pakistan had a lot of its own problems.
True that the ISI used these mujahideen to fight their proxy wars- first to stabilize Afghanistan to prevent the Aghan problem inside of Pakistan itself, and then for separatist movement in Kashmir (both of them being bad decisions) these mujahideen that we now know as terrorists was not a Pakistani creation. Charlie Wilson's war hints on these things. But pick up any decent history book and you'll see support for all these arguments.
Now when America wanted Pakistan to fight another war for them, obviously Pakistani could not trust them for what they had done just a few years ago. That is why Hillary Clinton on a recent visit apologized to Pakistanis for the injustices of the past. Yet, even if Pakistanis trust the Americans and the western world, more Pakistanis have been killed because of this war than anyone else in the West because of september 11th. They feel that it is unjust and they don't think it is their war. But they're bearing the brunt of it, which no one thanks them for and all they get is mockery. Just like people on digg.
So before you right off a whole nation why don't you pick up a history book and get your ideas straight. Spending just a few minutes researching this issue might prevent you from hateful thoughts that does no one any good ever. I know the Pakistani government is corrupt but even if 1 cent from a dollar ends up with people who need it, it is more than what they have right now. And I'd rather that they have that 1 cent, that could save someone's life, than them not getting anything at all.
Please feel free to message me and I will gladly provide you references to any of these arguments and more if you'd like. I am always open to a fair and balanced argument.
