Wow, didn't know that at all...so my close neighbours...
genericdiggerAug 17, 2010
Legalize it!
lordskywalkerAug 17, 2010
Garden ≠ Factory. I hope to see that number double again in two more years.
lnxfiAug 18, 2010
With all this sun on the east coast, I'd say I got a basil and oregano factory. Want a baggie of it?
vibr8Aug 18, 2010
'crop' up
lol

Cannabis is hydroponically grown indoors in the UK, and generally from the strongest strains available.
russ3Aug 18, 2010
I came to say the same thing, something along the lines of Nebraska being a giant corn factory.
tirauAug 17, 2010
Not that I condone them, but there wouldn't be any need for booby-traps and other unsavory measures if cannabis were legalized. Daily FAIL.
opr8rAug 17, 2010
I just knew there was something going on...

DailyFail, unreliable source. just a tabloid.

You can buy The Times in tabloid format, so what the hell do you know? The Daily Mail is crap, but I'll wager you don't know why.

Cannabis it be to benefits only from fabricas to police in way blind problem in drugs.
goweigusAug 18, 2010
... what?
russ3Aug 18, 2010
none of what you said made any sense.... can I buy some weed?
mweatherAug 18, 2010
Sounds like a market ripe for taxation.
bigviAug 18, 2010
You cant fight the will of the people. In the end, youre gonna loose.
jareddennisAug 18, 2010
A "market for export"? May I suggest Chicago? It's been a little dry since the big bust last week & the really good stuff typically runs $120/quarter in the inner city.
djbandit23Aug 18, 2010
Do Brits drink tea while toking?
goweigusAug 18, 2010
they probably put tea in it

Oh yes.
antz0rzAug 18, 2010
Its in the tea.
1fastdakAug 18, 2010
Taking out those "Factories???" is just going to keep the value of marijuana high. As long as that price is high people will find/buy/rent places to grow. Drug dealers should be thanking the police for keeping them in such a profitable business.

Is it opinion if its the law? I mean I want it legal but I am under not under the illusion that I am not a criminal until the law changes.
darkphenoxAug 18, 2010
Dude tort law is civil law which means no jail time it involves damages and compensation while criminal law is the stuff you get arrested for, so ya possession/growing/selling is a CRIMINAL CHARGE otherwise, they could not arrest you for it.
goweigusAug 18, 2010
I thought it was funny how they kept calling them 'commercial'
andyb747Aug 18, 2010
Alternate Headline: Britain; too many cops not enough real crime.
ugoffAug 18, 2010
Haha, this reminds me of Weeds when Nancy moved her grow house to this neighborhood. Turns out there were rival grow houses all over the neighborhood.
ghostalkerAug 18, 2010
Wow, glad they have tax dollars to burn away....

they already can/do pay a crapload for weed, and current drug dealers have no reason not to sell to them.

How many dealers are there for alcohol? And your "uncle" just doesn't want it legalised period no matter the benefit to society or to the addicts themselves. Legalisation isn't about the dealers anyway as they would go away eventually, same as when prohibition ended.
kinggorillaAug 18, 2010
If they see old people smoking medical marijuana they won't think it's cool anymore
grantmoore3dAug 18, 2010
I remember kids as young as 12 being able to get weed here in Canada. If it were legal, then it would at least become as difficult as getting cigarettes as a minor (which is still entirely possible, but a different kind of difficult)
mattbdAug 18, 2010
If it was legalised, the market would soon be dominated by a few well-known brands, and the companies responsible could be tightly regulated as to the quality of the end-product. If an age limit were placed on it (I reckon 18 sounds reasonable, similar to cigarettes) then responsible vendors wouldn't sell it to kids, and the strength of the end product could be regulated - for instance, they could prevent the sale of stronger varieties.
It would also hobble the old "gateway drug" argument somewhat - by making it commercially available, people wouldn't have to contact a dealer to obtain cannabis.
ejpusaAug 18, 2010
As someone pointed out to me today, there appears to be a pretty good correlation between quality of life, start/ups healthy people and liberal MJ laws, e.g. San Fransisco, Portland, Boulder, Seattle and Amsterdam, a few that come to mind. Or maybe just a coincidence?
While cities that have draconian laws, AKA Tokyo, London and New York (+440,000 arrests in just last few years), really are not that favorable to start/ups. Just seems like a trend.
russ3Aug 18, 2010
Not even coincidence, just your bias. First off New York and Boston have possession decriminalized. Second according to the 2010 mercer quality of life survey, for US cities it's Honolulu, SF, Boston, Chicago, DC, Portland OR, NYC, then seattle. Although they are all pretty close together.

ejpusaAug 18, 2010
NYC is a police state for MJ users. You go to jail. Period. I live in NYC. You do not get a ticket of any kind. You go directly to jail, for minimum of a day. And then to court. It's 100% a money maker here.
clone206Aug 18, 2010
"Running a cannabis farm would lead to the criminal charge of producing a Class B drug – punishable with up to 14 years in jail."
Such bulls**t.

Shouldn't the police be out finding innocent people to club?

What are they doing for electricity? Just curious.
StrutThatAssAug 18, 2010
They steal it from someone else. Remember, growing weed is a harmless crime.

tirauAug 18, 2010
Anything to make headlines.
mheykAug 18, 2010
Why is this illegal again?
grahamuk82Aug 18, 2010
If it was legal then the increased production would have meant we could get it cheaper.
Prices haven't gone down though D:
aeronAug 18, 2010
just legalize it, f**king morons...
