youtube.com — opposing the construction of a 13-story, $100 million mega-mosque near the hallowed ground of the World Trade Center. Shariah followers have long built mosques on the most sacred sites of those they have conquered ; on Jerusalem Temple Mount, at Constantinople St. Sophia Basilica and in Cordoba, Spain, the capital of the occupying Muslim kingdom

There is no way that this gets built, but if it does, it won't be there long.
hewhopoopsJul 23, 2010
Are insinuating that terrorists will blow up the mosque?
kdx200riderJul 23, 2010
No, a wrecking ball would do just fine.
hewhopoopsJul 23, 2010
A wrecking ball piloted by terrorists?
ryfiJul 23, 2010
does liberty mean nothing anymore?
emailowndmeJul 23, 2010
So, you're for the Mosque then?
ryfiJul 23, 2010
I dont think trying to protect peoples rights by infringing upon others makes any sense. This video is a clear attempt to use fear to stir an emotional response rather than using logic.

1.
freedom from arbitrary or despotic government or control. (note the arbitrary in there, it applies to this argument)
2.
freedom from external or foreign rule; independence.
3.
freedom from control, interference, obligation, restriction, hampering conditions, etc.; power or right of doing, thinking, speaking, etc., according to choice. (also seems to support the rights of believers trying to build a mosque)
4.
freedom from captivity, confinement, or physical restraint: The prisoner soon regained his liberty.
5.
permission granted to a sailor, esp. in the navy, to go ashore.
6.
freedom or right to frequent or use a place: The visitors were given the liberty of the city. (also supports the rights of the builders of the mosque).
7.
unwarranted or impertinent freedom in action or speech, or a form or instance of it: to take liberties.
8.
a female figure personifying freedom from despotism.
In case you don't recognize what you're reading here, it's the definition of liberty...

thank you?
ascadianJul 23, 2010
Only when you fight for it, otherwise it's as good as fresh air to a dead body
FIGHT !!!
hewhopoopsJul 23, 2010
What the hell are you talking about?
ryfiJul 23, 2010
That sounds very American. Lets take away peoples freedom and liberty to buy land and build stuff because we are scared of their religion!
They dont allow us to have churches in Saudia Arabia, so no mosques here! = They don't have freedom of speech in Saudi Arabia so no freedom of speech here in America either?
backwards logic is backward.
govtdoesnotworkJul 23, 2010
Is it ok if, without taking a position yet one way or the other about whether the mosque should be built, Americans like me are just a teensy bit curious about where the $100 million came from in the first place? Because I am. But I'm sure these days that's probably proof that I'm somehow "a racist."
tzvika613Jul 23, 2010
I don't know it if is the case here, but the Saudi Arabian government funds the construction of mosques and Muslim educational institutions around the world.
Among the investors for the Cordoba House are the Cordoba Initiative and the American Society for Muslim Advancement.
Here is the Cordoba Initiative's website:

dalhectarJul 23, 2010
That's all well and good, but this video is not about "asking questions"
"Asking Questions" is not "Stop the Mosque"
tzvika613Jul 23, 2010
" It isn't 'asking questions' that makes one a racist. " - That statement was directed at the person that I was responding to. It has nothing to do with the video.

First off, Ground Zero is not in any way hallowed ground. It is a construction site which will include a visitors' center when it is done. Secondly, south Manhattan is already one of the most de-christianized places in the world. Why are people acting as if this were a Christian vs. Muslim issue? If there was an attempt to turn St. Patrick's Cathedral into a mosque, this would be an entirely different story.

I would say it's in bad taste to build a mosque there, 2-3 thousand people murdered there by people declaring a jihad in the name of Muslim faith.Comment is buried, click here to see the rest.
emailowndmeJul 23, 2010
So, what about those strip clubs near Ground Zero's "sacred ground"?
Closed AccountJul 23, 2010
It's not on ground zero. What is wrong with you people?
bohicatwentytwoJul 23, 2010
Its not actually a mosque, its a community center. Calling this a mosque is like calling a YMCA a church.
theexitwoundJul 23, 2010
It's blocks down the road from the former WTC complex. It's not ON "ground zero".
dshadownoseSep 11, 2010
Let's see if we can get this right. They have a constitutional right to build their community center and mosque on their property in Manhattan. But ... the rest of us have a right to STFU! That's the thing about rights. Your misinformed opinions and stupid fears and your emotions just don't matter at all.
