We could use those doctors here in USA as many need care who cannot afford it.
darwininmotionJan 4, 2012
Pretty much all of the conflict zones MSF work in don't get any press coverage, Democratic Republic of Congo, Sudan, Burma.. it's a real tragedy as it's the average citizens who are suffering but it's somehow not news-worthy enough or maybe been going on for so long that the media is apathetic. The doctors and support staff deserve a lot more recognition for what they do and the conditions they're working in. This is why they get my donation money.

And what are we doing in this country to help them? Let's send some troops and eliminate the evil ones. It's been going on too long. If they had oil or something we needed, Washington would care, but they don't so they get ignored. This should have been the lead story on the news tonight. Not the stupid preidential candidates.

"If they had oil or something we needed, Washington would care"
Oh just shut up.
motozeroJan 4, 2012
Well we can't go around saving the world,, but it is kinda weird how we can kill a million Iraqi's too "save them" but can't seem to have any say in the genocide that occurs in Africa continually, for as long as I remember being alive. Replace "oil" with "profit" and your comment will be more on the mark.

We tried that in Mogadishu and Beirut. It didn't work out so well. An army is trained in fighting other armies. Door to door street fighting or tearing ass through a jungle requires different tactics and the ones we're after almost always know we're coming, kill the hostages, and then blend in with the local population that's too scared to turn them in knowing they'll get whacked when we finally leave.
Oddly enough, fighting hundreds of thousands of troops is easier

And here we go again. Try to help the sandmonkeys and bam, kidnapped or murdered doctors. When are the fools going to learn. You can not help these people. They are all terrorists waiting for a place and time to happen. Even the ones they were helping will only turn to barbarism as soon as they are healthy enough to pick up a machette or AK-47Comment is buried, click here to see the rest.

wow,, your comment is so heartfelt,,,, you must have actually been there trying to help! You sound like you know all about people around the world.
howdoesseanrollJan 4, 2012
I just got a call from the Sudanese militia, they're willing to trade the 130 doctors in exchange for you. Even they think you're a bad person.
cupofkonaJan 5, 2012
Very sad and disheartening...

Seems many of you think I am heartless in my comments. Well, for those of you that are history illiterate, maybe you've forgot Rowanda. American troops went in to help the peacekeepers distribute food and one of our helicopters got shot down. They dragged the burned bodies of the airmen down the streets and hung them up to video tape. That is just one of hundreds of times peacekeepers, religious organizations and others have been attacked in that region for trying to help those people. They are constantly at war with each other. Each tribe trying to take over. On and on. Day after day. Year after year. Governments being overthrown almost every ten years. That whole region is a Hell-hole. I think we should stay away and let them kill each other off until no-one's left. Then we can go in and take over, finally making that region a decent place to live.Comment is buried, click here to see the rest.
