This is what we call true love.
norman619Mar 16, 2011
Nah that's what we call true stupidity.
nerysMar 15, 2011
Dying for what is yours is not a waste. if enough people resisted if enough people trained and ARMED themselves these kinds of crimes would go away.
NOT resisting. simply "giving up" your stuff is 100% assured to create MORE CRIME.
I will protect my property. With your life if you insist.
norman619Mar 16, 2011
Dying for a cellphone is stupid. Dying for a loved one or defending the life of another is worth it. You have to pick your battles. Know when is a good time to fight and when fighting is not worth it.
peaches33Mar 16, 2011
So true. And text messages disappear after a while anyways. Maybe she should have focussed on the real rather than the words
wojjieMar 16, 2011
I don't think it's stupid, just because we don't share the same sentimental value for our cell phones doesn't mean others don't.
It's quite possible that it happened too fast, and all she wanted was to keep was the cellphone, it might of meant to her as much as her wedding ring or hand written love letters (which no one would really steal) for someone else.
I know for one that my wife wouldn't give up her rings willingly, and in chaos she wouldn't know whether she would be forfeiting her life for it either.
I really hope they find and lock up the thugs for good!
nerysMar 16, 2011
its not dying for a cell phone. Would you risk dying for your watch? would you risk dying for your Phone? For a heirloom from your dead mom? for your car? for your HOUSE? at what point does it become "worth" the risk?
Without taking the risk you INVITE CRIME. if no one is willing to RISK their lives for what is "RIGHT" then there is nothing stopping the criminals.
SO if someone robs you for your phone its not worth it to risk your life. What if a COP is standing down the street. your not going to call him right? I mean if your unwilling to risk your live for your phone HOW DARE YOU risk the life of the officer for your phone.
should the police LET criminals go for petty theft since its "not worth" the risk?
so your not willing to risk your life but your willing to risk anothers life for your property?
if not your phone are you saying policeman should NOT go after car jackers? should NOT go after burglars?
NOT defending your property from your watch to your home is INVITING crime against these things! Your saying its not worth it for us to RISK OUR LIVES for these things. SO as long as you threaten my life I am going to let you have anything you want.
are people truly this crazy today?
I never said I would want to risk my life. I said I want to risk YOUR LIFE your being the criminal.
Is my cellphone worth more than my life? NO but IT IS worth more than YOUR LIFE and I will TAKE your life if you force me too. (again your being the criminal)
Theft is theft. I do not distinguish between values.
Now that does not mean you throw away your life. if someone aims a GUN at me and says give me your cell phone the only viable answer is YES SIR.
but if he turns his back while running away with my cell phone I am going to draw my weapon and order him to stop and if he so much as pivots his gun in my direction he is dead.
If he does not have a gun I am going to resist him and get violent doing it.
ITS NOT ABOUT THE CELL PHONE. FORGET the cell phone. Its about one human being wanting to VIOLATE ANOTHER to take what is theirs.
My cell phone is $400 that is not $400 cash to me that is 40 "HOURS" of my life taken from me or a FULL WEEK of my life stolen at $10 an hour. 1.5 weeks once you add in taxes. more than 2 weeks of my life once you add in taxes and life expenses.
retardIQ70Mar 16, 2011
@ nerys I agree with you whole heartedly. People lack the ability to draw distinction anymore, you see this all the time in news headlines that read like "Man shot over Ice Cream Cone" etc. People don't understand that it's not the object but the human emotion involved. People have become so callous as to state that this woman was somehow stupid for not relinquishing what was here property. It's blame the victim with the ones responsible for her death are the assh**es who mugged her in the first place.
It's the principal that what is yours is yours, and you should be safe from threat of being violated. More people need to start resisting, and when possible these thugs should be met with unmerciful violence. This woman had more balls than all the people calling her stupid combined.
Angry_BastardMar 16, 2011
Exactly. A well armed and highly practiced population would rid us of much of this type of behavior; punch a few holes in 'em and let 'em bleed out in the street like animals...
Fact of the matter is, even if she had given up her cellphone as so many have asserted, their are no guarantees they would not have killed her still.
couragewulfMar 15, 2011
Too bad she didn't have a 9mm in that purse.
bdbrMar 16, 2011
Maybe they thought that's what she was trying to get out of her purse.
bobosmitorMar 15, 2011
To kill someone over a purse robbery is terrible. Now they aren't just robbers, they are murderers.
norman619Mar 16, 2011
They probably didn't plan on killing her but got pissed when she put up a fight.
breakspiritMar 16, 2011
Really feel sorry for the husband. They were clearly very much in love and she died to keep symbols of that love. Very beautiful and tragic story.
xpsiterMar 16, 2011
Slick name: Shazam Khan.
Beautiful wife: murdered for a stupid reason or plot?
Stole the cell but left the purse and didn't touch the husband. Really odd.....it sounds a bit fishy.
joefish142857Mar 16, 2011
That is a sad story, and very unnecessary in so many ways. She wouldn't have to hold onto four cellphones to save her texts if she just had Google Voice!
wojjieMar 16, 2011
Or if she stored the messages on the SIM card or microSD card and archived them somehow or just replaced those, or CCed a dummy cell phone that is locked away in a safe, but IFs won't bring a person back to life.
dellaroccokcMar 16, 2011
Go become batman now. It may not be your parents but close enough
superlanternMar 16, 2011
why? he is already Shazam, he just needs the super powers
itaintriteMar 16, 2011
What a misleading topic. Her love of her husband is what it was. If a woman struggles for her wedding ring, is it because of her love for jewelry?
gordonvMar 16, 2011
This is not the first time these guys have struck in this area. This was the first time they killed someone. (Source: NY Post comments)
Trying to compile some facts.

Just give them everything and freaking RUN!
noobiedoobiedoMar 16, 2011
Let's no blame the victim here. This is a tragedy and I hope the criminals spend a s**t load of time in jail.
max1001Mar 16, 2011
The mugger cost her life, not the phone.
thisisentirelybogusMar 19, 2011
It's not the cellphone. Many people have had run-ins with muggers because they take precious photos that "represent" loves ones when they steal your wallet. It's a primitive impulse.
konagalMar 19, 2011
Muggers took her life, there is no accidents and surely not the victim's fault !
