Windows 7 will be renamed as Windows 8 in 2012...

collective "meh"
punkrawkerApr 14, 2011
The recent 'leak' was fake -- just a hackers joke of re-releasing windows 7 with a few mods. the official preview leaks are barely more than an officially modded win 7 though also. meh. wait another year.

Microsoft's response to the coming tablet wars: Release another desktop OS.
lvaneedeApr 15, 2011
Windows 8 will work on ARM processors.
charlotte_webApr 15, 2011
Sure, but who wants to run a desktop OS on a mobile device? MS owned that market for a decade before the iPad, and it never went anywhere. And yet, that's still their strategy.
lvaneedeApr 16, 2011
I would for the same reason as I want windows on my netbook.

Usually every Computer I have bought lasted about 2 windows versions (4-6 years).
My latest Laptop was Windows 7 however this time I'm going to skip Win8 by the looks of it.
There's nothing radical - Windows 7 is the best WinOS to date so If it isn't broke don't fix it- I think many this time will do the same.

haha I love how the desktop background says. "shhhh... let's not leak our hard work"

I love how the desktop background says: "Windows 7" right on the background image

Meh, it's Microsoft, they'll just make it flashy, buggy, redundant, bloated, and resell the same old WXP interface for $200-400. Doesn't surprise me.Comment is buried, click here to see the rest.

I can't wait for this $300 'upgrade'.
So far Vista Ultimate and Windows 7 Ultimate have cost $500 per machine, to stay current, which it actually the price of an entire laptop when you think about it.Comment is buried, click here to see the rest.

More FUD... if you're paying $300, you're doing something wrong.

Chrome plating a turd...
sabret00theApr 14, 2011
I wouldn't be surprised if Windows 8 is simply a stripped more efficient of Windows 7 in a bid to bridge the gap between Win7 and WinMo7. Windows 9 will likely be the official attempt for a scalable OS that works in the same manner on Smartphone, Tablet and Desktop.Comment is buried, click here to see the rest.
