If the desktop, with far more processing power and screen real-estate, hasn't abandoned native applications, I can't see why the mobile market would either. Web browsers are a bloated way to deliver applications.

For one, you can have much smaller packaging size, no worry about platform compatibility because firefox, opera, and chrome all cover 3 OS's, and IE will drag it's foot through anything anyway, while it is improving, and processing power can be harnessed by the browser as well considering that speed is the first thing people compare when they question browsers.Comment is buried, click here to see the rest.

Have you ever developed an application for a browser? It's not platform independent in the slightest. I'm not talking about CSS hax either. Getting something like Google maps working across browsers takes a considerable amount of effort. The Javascript engines are all very very different. Some browsers just straight up don't implement parts of the language. This coming from someone who develops geographical mapping software for an international multi-billion dollar company...
A native application will always be faster than a web app too. Javascript, flash, Java, Ruby, you name it, it's slower than a robust native language like C++. Even .NET apps (as bloated as they are) run faster (again coming from 18 years experience).
Try actually developing something besides Hello World before vomiting your stupid, incorrect thoughts around on the internet.

True. People who say native applications are going to die are simply evangelists. Most of them don't even have a f**king clue how a computer works.
