As someone who works from home, I think the lack of social interaction is a little reaching for those who call it a disadvantage. As a father of a 2-year old, I am spending more time with him than my friends who work office jobs. It also affords me the chance to be available when my wife needs something and to take vacations when I want to (I can always work from the road, if I have to, but at least I am somewhere I want to be).

As someone who works in an office, this forced "social" interaction is more work than play in any case. I prefer reading and posting on forums to talking to these poor, trapped souls who are just playing an unsavoury game to gain status. Most of you tend to speak your minds.
Also, I am tired of old women flirting with me.

Problem is when your kid gets older and demands more of your constant attention. I have a 4 year old and if we all get snowed in I can't work from home as I'll get nothing done, so I just take the day off.
I also enjoy the ability to work remote, but you have to be very careful drawing those lines of work and family. I worked from home for over a year and my family life suffered for it (since I was always available, the work kept creeping up and I found myself working a lot more hours). Now it's a lot better (for myself, and family and job) since I started working in the office and mixing some work remote time in here and there.

we all know the real reason is because you are free to...well lets just say the internets don't have work blocks on them at home o_O

It's a minor inconvenience to have to circumvent filters. The real issue is that you can't masturbate in front of co-workers in most establishments.

You actually end up getting more done!

Having your familie around you, take a break whenever you need, targeting to the jobs you like. Of corse this is a "happy" working environment.

The real reason why I am happier this year than before as a web worker, is that IE6 is DEAD!
