Why would intel stand to lose? They just sing a cross licensing deal with each other.

x86's dominance in the "regular" computer market means IT is the processor of the future as well. Because regular desktops are NOTt going anywhere any time soon.
melthornalJan 11, 2011
Dude, Windows 8 isn't even going to be on x86. x86 processors have run their course, they are over.
acdcfanbillJan 11, 2011
FUD, Win8 will most certainly be on x86, possibly not 32 bit, but 64 bit extensions yes. MS only said they will be supporting ARM processors for cell phones and the like, exactly like win 7 does.

If your intent with that comment was to convince others that don't really understand the computing marketplace, I think you succeeded.
There are more applications written for x86 than all other platforms combined. There is no way that MS will ignore that with Windows 8.
crumbakerJan 11, 2011
Windows 8 is supporting arm cpu's and most cell phone use one already. These two factors might make the transition easier and more plausible. I don't think Intel has anything to worry about within the next 5 years though.

...everybody in the server/future server market...
themachine1Jan 11, 2011
This could hurt Radio Shack's plan to dominate the high end sever market.
