About time Mashable covered it.
Long live reddit!
boldfireAug 30, 2010
The Digg community is being quite childish. The same complaints that happens whenever Digg, Facebook, Twitter, MySpace or a major site changes their site.
The effort to digg up reddit stories is destructive rather than constructive. Digg and Kevin has said many times over the past few days they've been listening to feedback and they've already reacted to some of it.
Use the site for what it is now, or go else where. Digg is moving forwards, if some users don't want to move with it they can enjoy Reddit until they become the "I can has cheezeburger" voting engine.Comment is buried, click here to see the rest.

Dugg for getting an error message the first time I clicked on comments.

It failed to even load the story for me. This "new digg", is just plain bad. Those that are trying to compare it with the other changes that have happened, seem to to fail to see the fundamental difference. That is, while the other changes were tweaks and slight alterations, this new digg is completely different. The only similarity is the name.
For instance, Digg's biggest plus was the conversation. The discussions and debates. Sure they got heated, and yes they tended to devolve pretty quick - BUT - both sides were in on it. Both sides had their say, and both sides heard what the other side was saying - even if they didn't agree.. Now, this is an echo chamber, a corporatist echo chamber.

Looks like I missed out... came to sign-up for a Digg account a few weeks ago and received a message that they were no longer accepting registering. Just signed up and not quite what I had heard about.

I understand that but digg isn't what it use to be http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9WhnBbH6dNM I find the new digg to be like a pod-casting service where you can subscribe to your favorite sites like mashable, lifehacker..etc. it use to be about what we as the users think, there's still some of it just not as much as we want. Reddit has that internet meme, Digg just lost it.

At least he acknowledged that they screwed up and should have had an open directory from the start. Changes like that, plus bringing back much of the old site like "upcoming" and favorites will help restore Digg to what it always was meant to be, yet still retain a lot of what makes Digg v4 interesting like "My News."
The current implementation is broken to hell, but at its concept of Digg v4 isn't that much different from the old Digg. Its just going to take several weeks worth of fixes and pains to get there.
crowdersoupAug 30, 2010
Ok, ok, I get that people get pissed when you take away something that they love, but the old digg was broken too. Maybe it didn't crash all the f**king time, but the system itself was flawed. Power Users got their stories dugg to the front page all the time and average users just had to go with it...
Sure we're looking at a similar problem with Mashable basically taking over the place, but that's what your freaking "My News" tab is for! You subscribe to the news YOU want to read about! If you don't want to see Mashable, DON'T f**kING SUBSCRIBE TO THEM!
Everyone who is so caught up complaining about the new digg needs to pull their heads outta their asses. f**king f**kfaces.Comment is buried, click here to see the rest.

Understand that many pre-DiggV4 diggers (like me) never used the social aspect of Digg; we could just jump to the front page, digg and bury at will. For people like us, My News basically boils down to two options, since we have no friends digging news: either subscribe to all the big news sites, essentially turning My News in to a huge RSS dumping ground; or, follow a few power users, which, gee, instead of having partial control over my front page news, they now have a monopoly. Both of those options suck balls.
firecopstation6Aug 30, 2010
Now I can see why too... took three times to sign in (was already signed in on a different tab) and still got stalled...

Great, Mashable! My favorite website where I learn all about Social Networking and Search Engine Optimization!
therandomoneAug 30, 2010
Why? I love the new Digg. It's easier to get around and isn't as jumbled up as v3. That's all I need say.
onefreespiritAug 30, 2010
Consequences will never be the same Kevin.

The New Digg Isn't that bad, aside from a few downtimes and errors its way better then the old less hands on digg!

The main thing is all the links suddenly seem crap and boring.
And what's with all the redit spam, why can't I block it, I might a well go directly to redit.

Everyone is opposed to change. I like the new Digg!!
garussellSep 3, 2010
I can't find the upcoming stories. I particularly liked the recommendations. How does anyone now find a story that hasn't made the front page?
cadcam3dSep 20, 2010
I was part of the v4 beta group. Thought it was total garbage then, still do.
