Cool, a lot of other services do this already though.

Why not link to the Post storyu, rather than this blog spam?

As an owner of an iPod (and other players) since 2003, its always been laughable how Apple justifies the fact that it's always playing catch-up. They insisted that no one really wanted to have video on an iPod, up until a couple of weeks before they released one with video support. Then they insisted that no one really wanted subscription services...until they offer it, of course. Then its magical and innovative!

The second part of what you said hasn't happened yet.

With three industries copying every move Apple makes, I find your statement more or less the ludicrous and bitter ramblings of a wannabe with a fandroid "device".
There is a difference between Apple taking their time to get a feature right and making actual statements that "justify" the lack thereof. I've never seen Apple do this except for perhaps one or two rare occasions. Can you link to some Apple press release where they did this? I seriously doubt it.
Meanwhile, Apple will continue to invent entire industries and markets while fools continue to try and discredit them.Comment is buried, click here to see the rest.

300 DVD & 100 VHS concerts and, 50 MCs. all originals
are you hard of reading - paid apple-spammers ?
pronounce it - "then you hear also don't bore me !"

This will be useless unless it is worldwide. If I'm gonna pay 10 bucks I want to download Miley Cyrus from US, Kari Tapio from Finland and bollywood from India.
If its restricted to one slice of the pie, no thanks.Comment is buried, click here to see the rest.

Good on Apple for realizing that different people have different purchasing habits, and therefore want different payment models.
I am the type of person who is extremely picky about my music choices and it can be MONTHS in between releases of songs I'm actually willing to pay for vs hear for free now and again on Pandora. Thus the current payment model works fine for me, and with a subscription system I'd be wasting my money.
Meanwhile there are others that have a broader range of music or like building a large collection of songs, and the current pay-per-song model is not as cost-effective as a subscription model.

Yeah, good on them for only taking YEARS to figure it out too. That's if it even comes to fruition (ooo, hehe, I just noticed someone a few posts down also used the word fruition.) fruition...fruuuuuuuuuuiiiiiition.
flarn2006Oct 10, 2010
Maybe the $10 subscription includes DRM, and the $15 one doesn't.

Bring back Digg v3.
greg2kOct 10, 2010
Yeah, let's just see if this will actually come to fruition. Remember the RIAA tends to be a real bitch with Apple just because they lead the legal music downloading market, and I wouldn't be surprised if Apple were the only company to be banned from offering music subscriptions, solely because it's the market leader.
InfotographyOct 10, 2010
Subscriptions services like Rhapsody and Zune Marketplace don't allow you to actually purchase your music. You are basically renting it. As long as you pay the $15/ month you can download as much as you want. if you stop paying that price you lose it all. There is no way anyone can afford to sell you unlimited music for $15/ month and allow you to own it.
Over time, subscription services are more expensive.
dkdogz54Oct 10, 2010
From what I remember, Im still getting my 10 songs (with no DRM) a month from my zune pass. For $15 a month I get to keep 10 songs and temporarily keep the other songs for 2 months. So the renting part is really only $5 if not cheaper since you keep them for 2 months at a time...
ywgflyerOct 10, 2010
Cool, that means you get two months to try to reverse engineer the DRM off those 'rented' files.
I'd never pay to rent DATA.
zombinateOct 10, 2010
so don't. Using zune as an example, you can still buy songs from their marketplace, just like itunes. However I find a rental service to be excellent, I can try something I might like, or play the hell out of something I like temporarily, and if I am tired of it, no harm. while there is stuff I want in my personal collection, much of the stuff that gets listened to is of temporary basis, and I am happy to have services like zunepass, rhapsody, and netflix which allow me to do full "sampling" without screwing the artists. given that with zunepass you also get 10 song credits each month is an added bonus, as you can keep the songs you want to hold on to in your personal collection. comparatively to itunes where in a given month you can download 10 songs for $10, on zune you can download 1000 songs, keep 10 permanently, and listen to the rest until you tire of them for $15.

Yes, and it was also offered by Lala (although not quite a subscription model) earlier this year before Apple bought them and shut them down. Which is why Apple is now able to offer it themselves.
darthOct 10, 2010
Interesting question will be, will they bring back some sort of DRM? With this service, what will prevent me to download everything and then cancel my subscription?
zombinateOct 10, 2010
anything "rented" would absolutely have DRM if they were to implement this
godsdeadOct 11, 2010
yeah, like spotify has been doing this for time already.

This is very interesting but I find that you can find lots of free music and movie sites. There is one site that I found that list every single site on the net in one place for your to browse and use you can check it out here http://www.allonlinedownloadstore.com/ad/
