I've been using Tumblr since being introduced to it by seeing Amy Vernon's posts. It has replaced wordpress as my own personal blogging platform.Comment is buried, click here to see the rest.

So badqat..how much of your former imcome have you salvaged by whining to Digg until you at least got SOME power back?
anillopSep 7, 2010
Does anyone know how to remove followers? I prefer not to have some of the people who are currently flowing me being able to stalk me so easily?
itwasonlyajokeSep 7, 2010
It's currently impossible.
thejokkerSep 7, 2010
you could stop posting as much personal info, or realize that it's on public display 24/7 on the web.
danbarkerSep 7, 2010
followers -> unfollow. THAT WAS f**kING HARD!
absolutelytrueSep 7, 2010
That stops you from following them, not them from stalking you.

Buy gun -> shoot.

Had digg bookmarked on the family computer and my son would hit it on occasion. He just asked me why all the articles there suck now - nothing really interesting or current. Took me a minute or so to explain what transpired lately and then we just replaced the link there with reddit. Anyway, he's happy again.

Cool story, bro.

At least it's only growing pains and nothing terminal, haven't tried the site yet, I think I'll check it out.
chriskidsterSep 8, 2010
I don't know why people are disliking your comment.
chriskidsterSep 7, 2010
Absolutely love tumblr! It's so easy to use.
kingpSep 7, 2010
This doesn't look like 15 comments to me.
chriskidsterSep 7, 2010
true.

Been using tumblr since 2007. I love it. Great service. But as of late they've definitely had some growing pains. Errors all the time. Sometimes the service is slow. And there are a lot of issues that the devs seem to ignore, in favour of other features they roll out with.Comment is buried, click here to see the rest.

Their soaring traffic is probably partly due to Digg's plummeting traffic.
danbarkerSep 7, 2010
Source?
absolutelytrueSep 7, 2010
Alexa.com
danbarkerSep 8, 2010
thats not really a source. I need direct links.
uv0001Sep 8, 2010
http://www.alexa.com/siteinfo/digg.com
Click on the traffic stats tab and look at the graphs for Traffic Rank, Pageviews, and Pageviews/user. The daily pageviews have plummeted since v4 was released.
More damning stats if you compare it to reddit's stats. Put reddit.com in the compare to box underneath and you'll see. Reddit, being historically a smaller site with a smaller community always had less page views. Now Reddit is even with Digg when it comes to daily pageviews and completely surpassed Digg in Pageviews/User.

Tumblr rocks my world, sort of, mostly, 60% of the time, it works every time.
robotpixelSep 8, 2010
I've never used tumblr, is it any good?
chriskidsterSep 8, 2010
Yup .. although this article says it has a lot of downtime .. i've never experienced it myself.
onreactSep 8, 2010
It's like blogging and Twitter together but you'll sure miss the Digg flame wars. It's a much friendlier atmosphere. You only see updates by friends most of the time.

Who cares about occasional downtimes on Tumblr. Its not a platform for professional blogs but a chit-chat one. I have my occasional downtimes in private as well. Especially using the BEER platform.
Twitter has been infamous for its fail whale. So what?
badwetterSep 8, 2010
Well the old Dig flame-wars are gone hopefully. Didn't like the old dig and the various "dig gangs" that made it almost impossible for independent folks to get their favourite stories dugg.
BTW robotpixel as the article states the prime reason to like Digg is it's ease of use!
