Buy an Apple iPhone next time. They have been able to do this for a while and the service is free.

Apple did not just throw their iPhone together in a year or so and push it out the door. They thought things through. You still pay for the "service" when you get an iPhone. Just because it's a free app, doesn't mean it's necessarily free. Frankly, I'd be willing to bet you pay more every month just to have that iPhone in comparison to my HTC Desire.

Lookout is nice. They're a startup that has enabled me to wake up my phone when it's on silent, and even locate it to within ~1m. Lookout has been out for quite some time (I do believe it was actually before iPhone's Find my Phone app), and has been generally fantastic. It also backs up my data autonomously, and doesn't kill battery life (from what I've noticed).

So please, stop advertising Apple products unless you've tried the opposition and can actually compare.

And Lookout is still free, anyway.
