it fine if people dont want a smart phone but what i dont get is how expensive some of those phones are. i just dont understand why people would pay the same price for a product that has less features. i mean one of the was about $200 which just seems a bit much for something that is just a phone.

Theres a couple of reasons
1. Some people are too old/technically challenged to use a smartphone, even though they are so simple there is a very slight learning curve some people won't go through
2. People hate change, and some people just want to go against the logical flow of innovation
3. Some people actually don't know the benefits or the differences, there are a lot of older people who just don't read about tech or care
4. I'm sure there are skeptics who freak out about GPS being in all these devices...
The point is, there are many reasons, accept them, just don't buy one of these yourself and all's good :P

I never thought I would be looking for SIMPLER when it comes to phones but recently I actually had to as a favor to someone. An elderly family member (not tech-savvy at all!) needed one so I went shopping... It opened my eyes to be looking for simpler, bigger (buttons, screen text size etc) and louder.
Yah, and what is out there is so expensive! Would you believe some of these 'simpler' devices cost like close to and even over $100!
The only reasonable one was a good 'ole Tracfone called the SVC phone marketed at seniors with all the features seniors need and none of the extras.

For all 3 of you non-smartphone types?

If you're not going to buy an iPhone or an Android, you might as well just get the cheapest cell phone possible. Everything else is so horribly designed, it doesn't make sense to spend more money than the minimum.

Everyone wants a smartphone. Why you want a normal phone, that can only call and send messages? You'll get bored, and I'm sure you will want something moreComment is buried, click here to see the rest.

idg why you would buy a feature phone (if you could even call some of those low-end ones that) if it just looks like ass like those do.
At least Japan has nice-looking feature phones:
