Maybe right now but with mass production you will see prices fall like a rock. Also, when an SSD fails it goes into read only mode and the data is still accessible. When a hard drive fails, you're screwed.

SSD is not accepted by data integrity services like the government and other security companies, but they are definitely missing out on the share.

Be sure to check Amazon before you buy even from Newegg. I bought two WD1002FAEX drives new in sealed WD packaging from Amazon for $145 a piece. The same drive on Newegg (at the time - about 2 weeks ago) was $249. It's now on sale for $199, but still...
I've bought my tech from Newegg exclusively for the last ~8 years, but this managed to break my streak.
